On a different video, this guy was mentioning everything that could go wrong with the fuel pump but didn't address the simplest test. Thank you. You saved me so much money.
Thank you so much for posting this video! My 1995 Mazda B2300 suddenly wouldn't start and I suspected the fuel pump had failed. But this video showed me that it was in fact just the inertia switch. It was such a relief when the truck started! Anybody else out there with a Mazda B-series truck would do well to check this switch, too.
where did you find it located i cant find the dang thing anywhere
My 2005 Mazda B2300 wouldn't start this morning...9/29/2021....Thought maybe bad fuel pump. Googled truck wouldn't start and found this video. After pushing the red button the truck fired up IMMEDIATELY. This was truly a lifesaver.
Was just stuck on the side of the interstate without my vehicle being able to start after a blown tire this video save me from having to sit in the heat with no air conditioning.
My son had his front passenger tire blow out on his '03 XLT, then the truck wouldn't turn over.
Checked the fuse and the relay, looked for the driver module and realized it's in the tank on an '03. Truck isn't worth dropping the money into a fuel pump and labor. We were getting ready to have it hauled to the junkyard until I stumbled across this video. Pushed in the button and the truck fired right up.
Liked and Subscribed.
Thank You so much!! This saved me from being stuck on the road after a blowout!!
well i am a welder by trade, already went out and purchased a fuel pump $200.00, I wish i would have seen your video b4 hand and i would of sent that to you... after replacing the fuel pump n checked the fuse, found your video, jus wanted to say that was our problem... and THANK YOU...
Thank you so much for the help full video I was outside for 2 hours trying to figure out what's going on with my fuel pump checking relay switches and all types of nonsense ran across your video hit the button and it fired right up no problem again thank you so much you have been a big help
Good to hear it was helpful!
@@AirtexFuelPumps hi 👋 how are you doing? Do you know where is the cutoff switch located on 2012 ford focus
Thanks for the reply
I'll have to look into that .
I also got from a mechanic that it might be a skipped timing belt . Thanks again
Short, sweet, love it. Thanks.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was just about to buy a fuel pump for my 2003 B2300, but I saw your video first!
do you remember if it worked?
@@benstewart3194 Yes, it worked. Mine was triggered by releasing the parking brake initially. Resetting the switch was an instant fix.
Thanks man, was about to take my 250 to a shop before i saw this.
Saved me having to drop my tank out and replace my fuel pump. Thanks
Yes it is a good video that makes sense now since he has added the picture and clarification of what he is talking about. That was missing 10 years ago when I 1st commented on this video
Beautiful! Thank you!
Lol WOW! Video was extremely easy to follow. I don't know wtf some of these comments are about. Thanks for the vid!
Thank you. It is nice to hear the video was helpful.
I couldn't tell where it's located
Wow a short informative video on TH-cam!
Thank you!
Does the enertia switch on a 98 Ford f150 red button supposed to be raised up to be operatable or in the down position
@@douglasveal2511 down 😁
Almost shit my pants right now man I thought I had to change the fuel pump but it was just the button 😅😅😅
Very helpful thanx
After transporting (flatbed) vihicule, running tests, checking relays , fuses and harness connections discovered no power flowing to fuel pump. Wifey discribed that engine died after misfire and hesitation. Apperently that is what happened when someone hit fuel cutoff switch with their feet. Pushed reset and all is great and running.Thanks.
FYI on a 1994 Bronco, the inertia switch is behind the side kick panel on the passenger side.
Thank you!
wcolby where is located on 2013 Ford Taurus sel
I learn alot
Every post I find says on the passanger's side like pictured here, however, on my '91 F250 with dual tanks, a 7.5L engine and automatic transmission, the Inertia Switch is located on the drivers side mounted to the fire wall on the left side basically under the fuse box.
So the switch is supposed to be pushed in..?
Yes
Right no explanation
@@davidarroyo8831hey actually said the answer if you were listening
Thanks any way for your help guys. I will keep trying
Thanks for that it worked . but what causes it to keep tripping
Accidents, a jolting turn or even going too fast over speed bumps. It’s like a sensor. When it senses rough handlings it responds as if it’s a crash then trips to prevent fuel from flowing to the floor which can be fatal.
Can I manually over ride the button simply by crossing the two wires on the plug in adaptor for the fuel reset button?
thank you
Damn! thanks guys it helped me out a lot
What makes my 1987 F250 with dual tanks abruptly stop running. Going down the expressway, it will start right back up but driving short distance in hot weather, not so lucky to start right back up.
And what about the trucks w/ inertia switches that don't have a physical button. There was this thing we had to do with the key that would make it reset instead. The last time I had to do this for my 2002 F140 I looked it up and it said to turn the key to position "on" and hold a second (but not more if you can help it), then go to position Off. I wanna say it was just doing that three times in a row and it worked. The next time I turned the key after that sequence, it started right up like normal. I was really bummed when I finally got that kick-plate cover off and saw that my fuel inertia switch had no big red button.
Hi, I have a 96 Ford Explorer, We broke down about a week ago, The mechanic where we broke down said it was the fuel pump that it was dead, The car wants to turn over but just wont, We replaced the Fuel Pump and Filter on it but still it wants to turn over but just not doing it, Do you think this switch might need to be pushed ? There are a lot of pot holes in my city.
Does running out of gas affect the inertia switch on a 1986 for Thunderbird, 5.0??
I had small front end collision 2002 Ford mustang. Recently, fixed parts. Car kept starting, I could drive it. A month ago though, I had trouble starting, cranked, and eventually started. Like no gas. But yesterday it didn't start. Cranked, but no start. Is there an inertia switch in the front? Thank you
would this be the same procedure for a 96 ford explorer. I notice the switch is under the hood. Do I just need to simple press the switch down. Have a no start with vehicle that comes and goes
My 2019 Fiesta ST does not have the inertia switch behind the glove box. Or, in the passenger kick panel. Wonder why they decided to put it elsewhere?
I have my switch off the vehicle (2005)Ford Escape XLT 4WD and Im wondering if the switch is susposed to remain down when its pressed? In the video I seen a small window of the red button rising?
Yeah that's what I'd like to know...Is the button suppose to be pushed in to make the car run or out to make the car run
The button is supposed to be pushed in. When the button is in the popped out position the fuel pump will not get power.
will reseting it help my fuel gauge wrk properly?
on the 2000 f150 triton is the inertia switch on the passenger side kick plate?
is the inertia switch for a 1997 taurus in the trunk or pass. kick panel?
So with the switch up you're not getting any power to the fuel pumps and with it down it's functioning properly right?
Yes
This is a great help, but when I checked mine, it was in still pushed in, I got my truck stuck. And truck won't turn over, almost like the battery die on me
sir. i have a 93 ford escort that reads 8 volts at the wiring harness for the fuel pump. my inertia switch seems fine. what could be the problem. the car battery is good
My 2013 mustang keeps cranking but won't start and I think it's the inertia switch but we looked for it and can't find it!!! Where can I find it!??!? We found the panel that says fuel reset but we can't find the button
I found the inertia switch and Preston down does that mean that my truck will be able to start now or does the red button have to be in the position
i have a 97 ford ranger and the truck has been sitting for a month. in went and check the switch and it was down. however it will not turn over. what do i do?
I need help finding my inertia switch on my 1993 ford festiva plz help
I have a 1988 ford ea fairmont ghia and I think the intertia switch may have tripped? Could you help me by telling me where it is located in this car?
My Manuel says to turn on the vehicle and then pop up the switch and it will turn off but my ford zx2 never did until i unplugged the fuel pump fuse.. Can the switch be causing my intermittent start issues???
what causes the inertia switch to trip. has happened twice this week to me. 2000 ford f150
seems like i have no voltage at switch. tried turning key on when checking. switched relays around. fuses in distribution box are ok. its a 94 explorer. have manual for 92. says it has a 30 amp in distribution under hood but doesnt show fuse on plastic cover.
I have a 2002 ford focus. I suspect the inertia switch is faulty. My switch looks liek one black primer ball . once it's pushed down nothing stays in the down position, could it be faulty?
I have a 2001 Ford focus Manual, I turned it on not knowing it was in gear i let go of the clutch and the car stalled, It jerked around pretty bad, I found the Inertia switch clicked it on still nothing, i was told it could be the belt came loose or skipped is that possible?
I'm having issues with my inertia switch, it's gone bad on me. Can I replace it easily or bypass it in some way?
Is there one on the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid?? My daughter is away at college and blew the tire out and there is a code warning to stop safely. She has put a tire back on and the error code is still there..
I believe I have a problem with a fuel pressure sensor, which is supposed to be located in that passenger footwell area of my 2008 Lincoln MKZ. Any clues on where to find it?
if the switch is pressed down and truck is still having fuel issue is it safe to just suggest filter swap?
I would probably want to check my fuel pressure at the fuel rail, just a few pounds of low pressure will make your truck at crazy, you will be able to tell more about it than, you can are maybe should replace the fuel regulator on the rear of your fuel rail
Any clue WHERE the inertia switch is located on a 1990 ford f600 or if it even HAS one ? I'm not getting any gas to the carb. , and I dread pulling that 32 gallon tank if I don't have to .
Thanks
I have a 2004 ford ranger edge. A few months back my truck shut completely off on me while driving. I pulled over and tried to start her back up but nothing happened. had my passenger step out. I checked the fuel shut off switch located on the fire wall and she started right up. The connector had come loose probably caused by the passenger. Hope this helps. God Bless America and Ford Motor Co.
Oh! That's cold!.... You didn't even let your passenger get back in the car before you drove off.
can this switch be found any where other then in the front( 94 ford explorer sport)
Where can I find this switch on my 2009 model (Australia)
Music is louder than your voice... Great...
Hi, trying to find this switch on my 2008 Ford Galaxy, 2.3 Liter Benzine engine. They are hiding it pretty well. Cannot find anything on the Internet about the location for this year and Model.
I have a 1999 mercury mountaineer and it turns over but won't fire I recently moved in the truck and kids slam door and had a small bump on the back from a accident do I need to reset my switch
I'm about to go check mine because my truck was running fine and then all of a sudden it wasn't. it's acting like it needs a new fuel pump and I wouldn't be surprised if it does because my fuel gauge does not work and whoever own this F-150 before me took out the rear gas tank. Maybe it tripped because it doesn't have The rear gas tank and something triggered the inertia switch to trip idk I doubt that's what it is but at the same time I hope that's what it is I don't want to drop this gas tank and put in a new fuel pump. Thanks 👍🏻
Thanks guys but how do you know if you reset it lol
Where can I find the inertia switch in the Ford Escape 2015? Or how can I reset this switch ?
I have a 2006 ford ranger. The car sometimes stops and wont start again. A few years back we had the inertia switch replaced. Now it is happening again. I have located the switch and it does not stay down when pushed. Can you bypass the switch? if so how? In the past when this happens, it eventually starts again? How can it start again? does the switch build up pressure to trigger it to stay down? Thanks for your help
The switch is designed to shot off the fuel pump in a hit hard or roll over wreck makes the button trip, you can unplug it and put a jumper wire in between the two wires that plug up and you should be able to start and run the car,not recommend to continue to operate in this manner, replacement of switch is recommended at earliest chance
Is there a switch on a 1999 ford f250 diesel powerstroke
I have a 2002 ford f150 5.4, There is no power going to the fuel pump. and no ground to the fuel pump relay. would this switch cause that?
I have a 2004 FX4 is it in thhe same spot?....also do you need to remove the fuse box?
Airtex/ASC Performance Pumps Thank you...I found the schematic...it was the fuel pump module driver. Very easy fix.
I have a question if the inertia switch is bad, will my fuel pump still turn on? I have a crank no start condition and just installed a new fuel sending unit, the fuel pump turns on but is not priming, could a inertia switch cause this.
thank you for the reply.
I have an 87 Ford Ranger with a 2.3 fi engine. When I turn the key I can hear the fuel pump run. Does this mean the inertia switch didn't go off? My truck got hit by a hit and run driver. The truck was hit hard enough that it ripped the neutral safety wiring harness off the switch. I got the engine to rotate but it won't start.
Have you checked your filters and fuel pressure, when I know my pump is running, I am confident too check my filters and my fuel pressure,if that is good you probably want to hook up a code reader
Sorry spoke little English but wanted to see if I could tell if a Ford countour 99 has inertia switch
is the fuel pump switch is it up for on then down for off or up for off or down for on??
Thank you for asking!!!
Thanks I must have missed the part where you told us where it's located LOL
My shut of switch beep's when it has tripped, and has reset it's self before it's a 1997 Mazda B-2300.
I have a 1989 F-250 that has been sitting for 4 yrs., would that cause the inertia switch too trip.? My vehicles turns over but will not start so do I have an inertia switch and if so where may it be located?
Can this switch go bad without it showing its tripped?
damn it I was hoping this was my problem. my 1995 ford truck won't start i got fuel pressure at the rail but the spark plugs are dry as a bone I'm thing something's up with the injectors what do you think
+Airtex Pumps OK thank you.
where is it located on a 08 ford e450 6.8 thanks
Do a ford expedited 2000,2001 have a fuel safely switch where is it..
does a 97 ford ranger have a inertia switch
If the fuel pump runs & won't stop like it normally does after a few seconds when key is on, does that mean the inertia switch isn't the problem? Thanks.SamFox
Thank you. That's what I thought. I put a new fuel filter on the frame under the cab. The engine will start sometimes & not at other times. When it won't start, the fuel pump stays on & doesn't shut off. I switched the large relays under the hood next to the under hood fuse box, didn't change anything. Now I am stumped. My mechanic for a living friend says the problem is something besides the fuel pressure regulator, but didn't say what he thought the problem might be. Again, thank you for your reply. SamFox
to know where is the fuel pump shut off in a ford f 150 2011 i cant find
Do you know where this switch is located on 2012 e450 shuttle bus
