  • On my channel, I wanted to watch my top 5 favorite movies of all time. I started with Scott Pilgrim & then did Silver Linings Playbook. This week, I wanted to do a movie commentary video to The Fundamentals of Caring, a movie I love but think is so underrated. The Fundamentals of Caring is based off of a book, and although it's a Netflix film, I think it's amazing. It combines a heartfelt and emotional story with some absolutely hilarious dialogue. I don't know if many people know about this movie, but I really wanted to react to it because it's very special to me. So, if you haven't seen it, definitely watch The Fundamentals of Caring on Netflix! I hope you enjoy this week's video!
    Also, at the end of the video, I talk about my posting schedule and how it's been difficult lately to keep up with posting. I try to post every Thursday, but I may miss an upload day here or there. If you like my videos, be sure to subscribe so you know when my latest videos come out!

    If you've never seen it, I think you'd really enjoy As Good As It Gets with Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt, Greg Kinnear and Cuba Gooding Jr. I saw it in the theatre as a teenager. It was released in 1997, the same year as Titanic and Good Will Hunting and was also nominated for an Oscar, but it deals with a lot of very current issues. And it's just hilarious. But as a disabled guy, I love this movie. It shows what cynical, sarcastic bastards we can be. I also grew up with UK humour, so Craig Roberts, who is Welsh is right up my alley.

      Although we just see the take they used for the film. It could very well have taken a few takes before he could get through it w/o laughing.
      Also, consider all the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon actors who get desperate to lose their good image because they don’t want to get stuck with that image. And sometimes they can’t make that transition. Like Hilary Duff in a film called Greta. It was hard to believe her as Greta because she was Lizzie McGuire. Which is why Selena’s profanity seems forced in this film because she was on that Wizards show.

    • @StephLeone
      @StephLeone  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@glenncabacungan9269 true, I could definitely see the actor laughing a bunch and having to re-do the scene. And yeah you have a point about the Disney Channel actors for sure

    BOIIITEE OF THAAAA JAAAYMMEEESSS?! Also definitely not trying to be rude, but Selena Gomez ended up at the gas station because she was hitchhiking. They are in middle America, so it could stand to reason that she would end up at the same rest stop/restaurant because of how little their actually is out there.

    • @StephLeone
      @StephLeone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol that part gets me 😂 and yeah that’s fair. They never really show or say how far apart those two stops are

  • @johncampbell756

    I had never heard of this film before and don't have Netflix. Based on this, it seems like a good film. When Selena curses, it sounds lie dialog and not conversation. When she's just talking it sounds more natural.
    Still annoyed that Paul Rudd is my age, but ageless. Him and Robert Downey, Jr. doing superhero movies in their 50s. (Then again Harrison Ford may be about to do Indiana Jones 5 in his mid 70s!)
    The kid's deadbeat dad I know from the show In Plain Sight. He looks a bit like his cousin, actor Peter Weller.
    Thanks for the film introduction.
    ETA: If the kid didn't see the car coming, the back could knock him down and the toll over him. The weight would easily kill him. Anton Yelchin who played Chekhov in the JJ Abrams Star Trek reboot films was killed checking his mail when his car rolled back and crushed him against the wall of the driveway. This is sadly not uncommon and a big reason for the invention of reverse cameras.

    • @StephLeone
      @StephLeone  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s one of my favorites! And yeah Paul Rudd just doesn’t seem to age lol. But that makes sense, I was just thinking about how fast/slow the car was going and if that made a difference but your explanation makes a lot of sense

    Amazing movie! I just don't get why they did such a big thing about Katy Perry and then just left it out though. I also think it would have been nice to get some kind of interaction with Trevors mother regarding the letters. Fantastic movie nonetheless.
