Specifically, to accelerate a 315 ton train from 0-30 mph in 30 seconds. For this he made an 0-10-0 tank engine, and once the demonstrations were over, he just made it into a 0-8-0 tender engine.

I'm amazed how many people on the internet have come out about being picked on or bullied for liking Thomas the Tank Engine. I remember feeling weird because the series itself was in that "its for babies" period where the show got dumbed down hard and as result getting picked by other kids in my class. It lead to me having a dramatic switch from Thomas the Tank Engine to what I saw as less "baby" things like hype focusing on Star Wars & Video Games I saw my brother playing on our Xbox 360 (Call of Duty World at War & Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer because that's what was popular at the time & I vividly remember he played with his friends) but ironically I always came back to my love for Thomas somehow over time through fan content, but I owe it to that Fictional Blue Dumpster for giving me an appreciation for machinery, locomotives & anything else railroad related.
Feel ya hardcore. I didn't end up coming back to Thomas, but, it definitely left an impression. And I am genuinely appreciative of how cool the show's filming really was the more I've learned about it.
Scott isn’t kidding about the accounting dept of live steam. Me and by friends joke that we run our live steam at meets to find out what else needs to be fixed.
4 weeks late to this, but I must perform my civic duty: fly high, mighty *banana!* And don’t feel bad about being bullied for liking Thomas in your old age, man. My dad (who’s been into trains since the day he was born) was in college when it came over to the states and he’s admitted to me on multiple occasions that he used to watch it back in the day SOLELY because of the model work.
When i was a kid, everyone my age, was more concerned about football, basketball or baseball. I couldnt care less. I played Soccer, that didnt help my social situation, I am also extremely fair skinned, my first born son actually has Albinism of the eyes because both my wife and I are so fair skinned. I didnt watch "sports" besides Racing. I grew up watching NOVA, Jeopardy, Modern Marvels, etc. I read everything i could get my hands on that dealt with anything, ANYTHING, that moved, Cars, planes, boats, spaceships, and of course, trains. My grandfather grew up dirt F***ing poor in Owlsley County Kentucky, and started working the railroad when the family Tobacco farm wasnt bringing in enough revenue for him and his 16 other siblings. Hell my grandfather, i think only finished 4th or 5th grade. Taught himself how to read and do math, and everything else. Dude was my damn hero. He got me into trains real quicklike, and took me to railyards he used to work at as a Heavy Equipment/rescue Operator when i was 5 years old. My mind was blown. I was already fascinated by transportation, but he worked with it, and that made it all the more special to me. He was a giant among men, to me at least. And when i tried to share my love of this stuff to classmates, yeah i was shunned, yeah i was bullied, yeah i got the hard R thrown at me more times than i can count. However, that grade school educated man, taught me more about life, how to work, how to fish, how to cook, how to be self reliant, how to work on cars and machinery, how to improvise and fabricate, and so did my parents too. But there is a reason, my first born, has his name, Colson. And you know what, all the people that bullied me, sure they know sports, good for them, they dont have life skills though. They have to pay somebody to fix their stuff. I do it myself. From wiring, to plumbing, to cars, computers etc. I'm a bonafide jack of all trades, because of him. So yeah man, take it on the chin, we all came out better, for the love of giants that shaped our lands, and the people who rode and built them.
Its a weird thing hearing about being made fun of for liking trains. I’ll admit i kinda got off lightly with not being bullied but I certainly felt alone in what i had an interest in. It wasnt until, 3 years ago almost that i met and made my first ever friend through trains. Also, the Railway Series is still an amazing set of books and you can find readings of them on youtube and I listen to them on the regular, theyre amazing! Dont stop being awesome Hyce
I've got nearly everything I've ever made digitally still around and I know the pain of watching back early stuff. I remember waiting all evening as a kid for some YT videos to upload and I've still got them. I never could get into the content making grove and so I've got a crazy patchwork of I made a half dozen of this, and dozen of that and here is 4 completely unrelated things.
Hardcore nerd here, also got bullied for loving trains and thomas. Now i work as an engineer and helping out at setesdalsbanen narrow gauge museum railroad.
When you have a moment you may want to look into your OBS settings, the areas where you zoom around on this video.. the encoder seriously kills the bitrate. The word throttle on your UI just completely goes fuzzy and then disappears even on youtube 1080P. Ideally you want consistent quality insofar as your rig can support it. You may also want to consider 30FPS. Also Banana and Salami. Drunk Hyce was good

The Graham County RR used Shays because of the grade from the connection to the Southern RR at Topton. The grade was about 8% if I remember correctly.
10:40 It's a car from the Rio Grande standard gauge!
Scott isn’t kidding about the accounting dept of live steam. Me and by friends joke that we run our live steam at meets to find out what else needs to be fixed.
Have you tried the mod pack that brings in a whole town in Ela, a sugar mill in Whittier, a gold mine...so much good stuff.
Hardcore nerds...
I resemble that remark!
Salami for those who are hard core and watch all the way.
Hyce i really enjoyed the full bucketniers
4 weeks late to this, but I must perform my civic duty: fly high, mighty *banana!*
And don’t feel bad about being bullied for liking Thomas in your old age, man. My dad (who’s been into trains since the day he was born) was in college when it came over to the states and he’s admitted to me on multiple occasions that he used to watch it back in the day SOLELY because of the model work.
36:00 the worst part is je would have taken TWO engines out of service
Well said. Your granddad was one of the good ones, obviously.
@@Hyce777 much appreciated brother, keep doing what you do, and be proud of where you are, and where you came from.
had this great banana yogurt the other day lol
Banana makes sense and Salami too
The Railway Series and Thomas is a fantastic baseline as a railfan. Wear your Sodor fandom with pride.
Also, salami
That was an impressively long ramble. An interesting ramble, and I liked hearing it, but still impressively long :)
Hardcore nerd here, also got bullied for loving trains and thomas. Now i work as an engineer and helping out at setesdalsbanen narrow gauge museum railroad.
Why we gotta measure it all in BANANAS!
Drunk Hyce was good
@1:33:25 SALAMI 😂 🎉🎉
You should order more boxcars to order more repair parts. This is the ES&DT
getting this game soon super hyped
Ooo Banana
I can hear this in my soul
The George Carlon narrated Thomas the Tank Engine series were the bomb.
Started reading the comments before the description, and wondered why everyone was typing "banana".
It's like walking into a room, and everybody starts chanting a random word or phrase for no reason.
Weird analogy? Yes. Very.
Hi hyce's mom!! also suprisingly we were both in croatia at the same time but i bet you are less tanned lol
I've got the best farmer's tan. :P

Moog from mighty car mods has the same feelings about his music, feel free to use it just credit him, which I think is the right way to go about it 😊
