      Now if we could adapt to a 20lb we'd be in business haha 😄✊🔥

      @@Canadian_Craftsman get the 1lb adapter and maybe use the 1 to 20lb adapter commonly available for coleman camp stoves. That should work

      With propane you want a CO/explosive gas monitor, not a CO2 monitor. They are different monitors.

    You can tell right from start, that this is a well-made product...look at the packaging. A lot of thought and design went into it; so simple. Absolutely sold on this one. I noticed the larger model, called the Chubby' is only two dollars more without accessories, so that's only $100 for both. Great deal.....ordering now.

    Couldn’t decide between this Lil Guy or the Chubby. Thanks for showing both next to each other!

    I bought this back when you first aired it. I had to come back to view the video to refresh my memory how it works. Just used your link to get the adapter hose. I like options.

    Just came back to revisit this video after many lessons learned.
    After a few years camping in the Scottish Highlands I am used to heading out in warm weather and coming home soaking wet and the temperature dropping by ten degrees.
    I usually pack an ultralight stove and/or cook on an open wood fire.
    The thing is with certain climates like Scotland, and places like Finland in spring and autumn, is the temperature hovering around zero combined with rain. This is a really horrible place to be because you are going through a cycle of getting soaked and frozen. Give me -5c and snow any day.
    My point is that I came to the conclusion that some form of backpack portable micro tent heater would be a massive boon. Just something to boost up the temperature in my tent at the end of the day to accelerate drying out clothes and to drive some moisture out of the tent safely.
    I looked everywhere for a really lightweight, safe, portable, tent heater, and came up with nothing suitable. Then I remembered that I owned one of these.
    This thing is bulky but it is actually fairly light, it also takes the same range of isobutane canisters I take with my ultralight stove.
    I have never taken this camping because I have always had "better" options, but now I realise why this stove is potentially so useful. If you are taking isobutane cannisters anyway, then trade out your stove for the Campy Gear and now you have a relatively safe heater for a small tent.
    Sure this thing is a bit of a donkey if you are an ultralight camper but its a lot safer than just running your stove in the tent with an open flame, and vastly better at heating.
    Running any burner in a tent is by definition dangerous, but personally if I am going to do it I will try it with this. Better that than freezing to death.

    For the sake of argument, the main innovation here is the top radiator with metal mesh. It would be sufficient to have these in stores to fit standard gas cookers. No offence. They should attach like any other burner fitting a lamp with a mantle, just disassemble the gas-head and screw on this utility with its own dedicated burner head or mantle. I think this is a perfect DIY project for most of us.

    Decided to get this model to throw in the car for just in case... Also scored the Lixada L1 adapter so I can just screw a coleman one pound tank directly into the body, and just forgo the hose all together...
    We've been around 10-15 below zero the last few days and tonight it's supposed to hit minus 17.

    Great review and nice product. Went Walmart 3 days ago and they were completely out of all camping fuels, including denatured alcohol for my Trangia stove. Found 2 gallons at the hardware store. Would like find a similar heater top for the Trangia to use in my tent for backpacking.

    Because it is double duty, this might be a good fit for your car's I-95 kit. (Or van life, since even the smallest of the "buddy" heaters are too big.) Would be nice if there were some sort of a reflector, so that it didn't have to go dead center of the area you're trying to heat.

      Aluminum foil would make an effect reflector

    @Iridium242, I would like to use this in my car or small camper. I guess I would need to buy a carbon monoxide detector? I believe I will be getting one of these in the very near future. Thank you for supplying the amazon link.

    I wonder what the BTU rating is? I have a coleman 3000 BTU heater that screws on a 1 lb propane canister. It lasts 7 hours per canister.

    Have you tried to fit a Coleman propane cyclinder in there. Just curious. Thanks

    • @joesmith4222
      @joesmith4222 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need the conversion adapter from propane to the butane mix cannisters. The green Coleman propane cylinders might be a bigger diameter, don't know.

    Wish it could take larger tanks of propane. I have one from a different company that is several years old now and I would love a backup.
    It is about twice that size and works perfectly.

    Is this safe enough to use inside A-tent??

    • @Iridium242
      @Iridium242  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would be careful about using it inside, less due to fire danger but more due to carbon monoxide, if its a big tent with some ventilation it would probably be ok but stil be careful..
