About 10 years ago, I posted a question on a Ravens Facebook Fan Group: Who was the Worst Ravens player ever? The response was almost universal: Kyle Boller. To be to Boller, he was thrown to the wolves right out of his rookie year by Brian Billick, who was a Garbage Head Coach, and who destroyed the careers of every QB he had.
Think it missed with the Rams. Lenard Little killed a mother on her way to pick up her son, while he was drinking and driving. Never served his jail time and stayed with the team somehow

Cannot believe that Ryan Leaf was not the most hated Charger. The Chargers traded up for him, and gave him a huge rookie contract. He then gets hurt twenty minutes into training camp and ends up sitting out most of his rookie year due to injury. He started feuding with fans, reporters, teammates, basically anyone with a pulse. By the time he finally wore out his welcome in San Diego, the city could not wait to see the back of him.
Still crazy in hindsight how intense the argument was between Leaf and Manning for quarterback of the future. They then legit had the best and worst case scenarios for their careers.
What went on with Leaf was worse than what you said happened. He was out of shape, played a few games where the Chargers won the first two in spite of him then things went downhill with the Chiefs game. The injury happened the following season where he got caught playing golf.
A lot of Browns fans saw the D*Shaun trade and extension for what it was: The most Jimmy Haslam, Jimmy Haslam moment of all time. Baker got thrown out for playing injured, instead of being given a second chance (and Joe Woods defenses were a thing); we all knew QB wasn't the position to edit.
Too many Browns fans were falling over themselves defending not only Groper Cleveland but Haslam (again), like shining a light on a dirty pond... Then you have the Columbus Crew, which is Dee Haslam's project, nominally, collecting trophies. Jimmy should have stuck to skimming off his truck stops.
As a Bears Fan, I can forget about Claypool. Bad trade and all that. But Chris Conte was a deluge on our Defense! You were practically guaranteed a touchdown throwing in his direction!
Conte for sure. And Cody Parkey. We can't hate cutler. He is the best qb we ever had. He actually holds most of the passing records in franchise history. I still have my cutler jersey
Was expecting Josh Rosen for the Cardinals. You can't have a line like "Nine Mistakes Were Taken Ahead Of Me™" and NOT be hateable unless you are absolutely beyond phenomenal.
TO is infact NOT hated by Philly. For the most part people who watched that era of football tend to hate McNabb instead. Man was a great QB but god damn was he a drama queen.

Wasn't really his fault. The team drafted the wrong style of punter and tried to fit a square peg into a round hole. Ultimately this was a screwup of the scouting office, not players or coaches.

I always felt Kyle Williams got a raw deal. He wasn’t their kick returner and was thrust into the role in the most pressure-filled situation. In those years, I had a bigger issue with Michael Crabtree. I hated how he held out before playing a single game only to be a “fine” receiver.

For Bills fans who want to stick with what happened on the field (though I agree about hating OJ), I'd offer Rob Johnson who replaced the incredibly popular Doug Flutie with twice his size but half his talent and charisma.
He's probably the closest to "hate". Would have also gone with Aldon Smith or Reuben Foster. Both had so much potential but kept screwing it up with off-the-field issues.
As a Seahawks fan I would consider putting him on the list for us considering how much capital we gave up and how little of an impact he's made on top of the off-field drama, but that might be a bit of recency bias (plus who knows maybe he somehow turns it around).
Actually the most hated by the Packers after blowing the N.F.C. championship against Seattle would be the "most brilliant defensive mind in football", whose play calling let the Seahawks chew up enough yardage and score with impunity, Dom Capers, and the 1 who told Aaron Rogers and the offense to "take the foot off of the accelerator", Mike McCarthy
The icing on the cake for Raiders fans was that Jamarcus Russell managed to sneak into the #1 overall draft pick over Calvin Johnson and his obvious physical gifts, insane combine performance, and demonstrated dominance from high school to the end of college.
As a ravens fan, I wanted James proche II. He was a terrible WR who had terrible hands. This dude kept dropping passes and punt returns. And the worst part is Jon loved him for whatever reason. Even though it was multiple seasons of failure for him. Finally with a new OC he got cut. Then signed with the browns where he dropped a pass in the end zone and muffled a punt which was recovered by the ravens and they later scored of that. The fact he is still on their roster gives me hope when the ravens play them in the playoffs we get another fumble off him.
Dallas might be Kelvin Joseph. Drafted in the second round and he was never good. Lots of off-the-field issues - he was a passenger in a car that took part in a drive-by shooting. He's the reason Trevor Lawrence had his breakout game against us (allowed a shitton of yards), and his failings opened the slot CB spot for unheralded rookie DaRon Bland to take his snaps. He was traded to the Dolphins in this off-season, and he's since been cut from them.
As a Patriots fan I’m torn… to me it’s obviously Aaron Hernandez I mean I have a signed jersey from him… but my hatred isn’t towards him it’s the pain his actions caused his story is tragic to put it lightly
Randy Moss could have also been a good candidate for the Raiders, he is an all-time great yet is never held in high esteem by their fans due to his two years on the team.
I mean he underperformed with the Raiders. One has to wonder if either the Raiders dragged him down or just not a good fit. Then again it could be both.
What you don't mention about Bostick for Green Bay - HE WASNT SUPPOSED TO TRY FOR IT. THATS WHAT... you know you're right when I still get this triggered. Jordy was the designated onside guy.. and Bostick tried to play hero. Instead, he's now the villain.
He never should've been in the situation to HAVE to recover an onside kick. So many things went wrong loooong before Bostick's mistake. Also, 95% of people who criticize him couldn't have made that play in that situation either. Shit happens. King's play hurt way more.
Honest for the packers would have been fine picking Mandarich for just how much of a let down he was. Drops and overcommitting happen on the field but with how top loaded that draft was we left so much on the table.
John Kasay was actually beloved in Carolina. The last original Panther, got a standing ovation when nailing a game winner for the Saints the next season, Rivera cutting Kasay actually got Ron off to a rough start with a certain portion of the fan base. Kind of a Scott Norwood situation where most of the fan base forgave him for the gaffe immediately. Ignoring Carruth who is the obvious choice, maybe Jimmy Clausen or Dwayne Jarrett, who were both 2nd round whiffs with awful attitudes. Matt Kalil is another good one
NFL Network did a video on Jeff George once and showed footage of him in a screaming match with his coach June Jones on the sidelines and Warren Moon had said to get June Jones that mad at you, you basically have to be an asshole.

Andre Rison - the last straw that broke (of many bad financial moves) before The Move. Mike Phipps - traded a Hall of Fame wideout to draft that useless lump. But they DID trade him for the pick that got Ozzie Newsome, so... Johnny Football and/or Justin Gilbert - worst first round picks ever, and Gilbert was the bigger bust of the two! But the hate for Watson is nuclear because we've got almost nothing in return for all that money, draft capital and "goodwill" (other fanbases that have rooted for actual criminals and worse but knock the Browns can suck on their hypocrisy) - it'd have been atrocious even without the creeper sideshow.
If they had even a slightly above average QB right now, they'd probably be considered SB contenders with that defense. Add to that being unlikable and that contract is going to be an albatross for years to come, I could see where Browns fans might hate him

What sucks about the Dion Jordan pick is that most of us were cool with trading up from 12 to 3 with the Raiders because we thought Jeff Ireland & company were getting Ryan Tannehill help up front. Instead, it feels like they sniped the Chip Kelly Eagles for Jordan instead of taking… Lane Johnson who the Eagles took with the next pick & he’s going to Canton when he’s done.
Mohammed Wilkerson for the jets had a few really good years, got paid, then proceeded to do fuck all. Dee Millner, Darron Lee, Calvin Pryor; so many guys we drafted in the first round for the defense that just never panned out. Mark Sanchez isn’t really hated anymore cuz we was the last qb to win a playoff game for us. Jamal’s only redeeming factor is that we got 2 great players from the picks we got in the trade.
For the bears, please look up Caleb Hanie. Bears were 7-3 and then Cutler broke his hand. Hanie then lost 4 straight by throwing 9 picks to 3 td's in those 4 games and the Bears were eliminated from contention by the time he was benched. He got relentlessly booed every time he came back to Chicago, mostly as a backup in preseason games.
Hanie doesn't deserve the hate tbh. He almost won us the NFC championship game. Jay Cutler just wasn't a good enough QB and our legendary defense had to carry him. Jamarcus Webb on the OL really sucked though.
@@UserName-ts3sp not really, he was the 3rd string QB and when he came in it was 14-0 and he didnt come in until the start of the 4th, he managed to get them back in the game and almost won considering they had ball down 7 and inside the packers 30, unfortunately for the bears the best defense in the NFL that year made a play with the INT and packers won the game
I know the Bears most hated player was Jay Cutler, nobody wanted him there and upper management kept resigning him followed by the 1st half of the season Cutler playing like he didn't care and the 2nd half like a real QB.
The Chargers/Patriots 06 playoff game was the divisional round and the Lin Elliott missed FGs against the Colts was in the playoffs also in the divisional round when the Chiefs were the number 1 seed.
For the Seahawks, I gotta go with Greg Olsen. Demanded a massive one year, played like ass in that one year with us, and bad mouthed the team after he left.
In Atlanta, the fan base has a love/hate relationship with Michael Vick. He may have had his fans, but he's definitely has his haters. Atlanta's most hated person is Bobby Petrino. The coach that leaves destruction wherever he goes.
I got kinda annoyed when you put Watson for Cleveland since we had to deal with him for like 2 years on the Texans but nailed it for putting him for both. I can't think of a Texans player that comes anywhere as close

Lin Elliot was spot-on. That playoff game against the wild card Colts and Jim "let me look at your playbook" Harbaugh where he shanked all of those field goals still haunts my dreams.
I remember that game like yesterday. When Elliott was interviewed after the game, he said "Next year, I'll be traded to a better team, and then I'll kick the winning field goal in the playoffs against the Chiefs." Then Chiefs GM Carl Peterson, less than 2 hours later came to him and said "Clean out your locker. You're out of here."

Doug Brien should definitely be the pick for the Jets. In the 2004 Divisional Round against the Steelers, he missed two what would be game-winning field goals in a row (47 and 43 yards) within the last two minutes of regulation.
Bears fan here. My most hated? Jay Cutler. Didn’t take any responsibility for his own failures and was inconsistent while the Bears paid him big bucks while giving away the only player who could consistently score in Robbie Gould.
Nope Conte and Cody parkey. Those 2 are higher on the list. Conte always gave up horrible tds and couldn't tackle for shit. Parkey missed fg in the playoffs. From San Francisco. I didn't remember Kyle Williams. I do remember Oh-fer Cofer (Mike Cofer) who missed crucial kicks over and over for 6 seasons. He averaged 66% overall. In 1991, for example, he hit on just 50% of his kicks and missed -- MISSED 7 of 10 from 30-39 yards and 6 of 10 from 40-49. He had no leg either. And they brought him back the next season I could also nominate Colin Kaepernick. A lot of fans were outraged, far more intensely than on-field play can generate. Even many who sympathized with his motive were angry with him for bringing a hornets' nest into the clubhouse. He was a walking media storm, a constant distraction, a continual crisis. We breathed a huge sigh of relief when he left.

Ravens fan here. I would bet a hefty sum that if the Ravens fan base was asked, Lee Evans would get more votes here than Cundiff. Sure, Cundiff's miss in that game was brutal - but Evans's dropped TD pass was even more so, just a play before. Cundiff's FG would only have tied the game while Evans' TD would have given the Ravens a lead. Also, Cunfidd was actually a very good kicker for the Ravens, being one of the best in the league the season before and also rather good in that season.
For the Ravens it has to be Bernard Pollard ... I used to like him when he was on the team, but nah... That dude won a superbowl with Ed Reed next to him. He gets cut that offseason, takes it personally, and once he retires, immediately starts shading everything Lamar does for clicks and clout. If we're factoring in *off the field* factors, it has to be him for the Ravens. I don't like Cundiff... broke my heart as a 16 year old kid watching that field goal miss, but Lee Evans is just as much to blame for that ending to the Championship game..... (+ Justin Tucker exists because of that)... Bernard Pollard is just something else for me.

Idk a single person who liked him. There was also Chris Akins in the early 2000's, his short lived stint was famous for him constantly bickering with Mike Sherman and he did not make friends with GB quick with that attitude, he was gone shortly after. Javon Walker and Mike Mckensie get honorable mentions for hiring Drew Rosenhouse as their agent and immediately wanting out of GB cuz they hated how "boring" the town was and didn't care about winning titles, oh yeah and they weren't being paid enough.

Patriots: Rachee Caldwell - 2006 AFC champ game, dropping a wide open TD that would have put the game out of reach for the cults and send the Pats to the Superbowl vs the Bears who they beat week 3 that year when they were actually really really good. So basically he dropped a ring for Brady and co. Or we could go with Asante Samuel's who dropped a would be Int that would have won the superbowl for the pats in 07 vs the Giants, costing the pats the greatest season in sports history and forcing us to hear "didn't win since spygate" when it could have been instantly killed that same season.

I'm yet to meet a fellow Ravens fan who "hates" Rice. Not saying his one infamous moment should be excused, he had been one of the most liked players. He was a very nice guy (may be hard to believe for those who only know him because of that one thing) who kept producing on the field. In fact, for many of us Rice is amongst the most liked players, in spite of that elevator thing. That was inexcusable, and he paid the price.

Yeah, as bad as Eli Apple was for the Saints, and how he left was bad as well, Sharper is becoming a taboo name in Who Dat Nation. There are also some players before the Brees-Peyton era that would be close to most hated by the older fans.

As a recovering Chargers fan, my old most hated player was Ryan Leaf. Since he left the game he’s earned my forgiveness and after a lot of problems became a stand-up guy. I actually defend him when he gets dragged. I actually hate Eli Manning the most, although he never played for the Chargers, he was drafted by them and technically was a Charger for about 3 minutes.
As a Pats fan, I don’t hate Samuel or Welker. Both contributed too much to the team for one mistake to sour me on them. My mind immediately went to the CONVICTED MURDERER! I mean, come on, man!

He pisses me off almost every single game. His production tends to be hit or miss but his penalties are always stupid and costly. His try can be amazingly lacking especially if he was pouting that they didnt call his number on the play. But surprise the play was a bust and Geno throws his way anyway and look who didnt really run a route. It is nothing to see 4 catches on 9 targets meanwhile Lockett has 5 on 6 targets. As bad as the AB saga was, I don't think AB is currently the most hated Steeler of all time. Most fans I've talked to mourn the waste of such a talent as AB. I'm pretty sure the most hated player in Steelers history is Neil O'Donnell.

as a longtime seahawks fan i have no hate for russel whatsoever. I loved watching the dude play all my childhood (im still only 14 but u get the point) and i watched him throw that seed to malcolm butler, but I still appreciate him leading us to a couple of trophies

Figured Colin Kaepernick would easily be the 49ers hated player. Just saying his name alone can incite the most negative of feelings, way beyond the football field.
I’m a Dolphins fan and I never even heard of Dion Jordan. The only players who I ever hated on our team was Dan Carpenter and most of the 2007 roster (minus Jason Taylor).
Pats fan here. It’s absolutely Ass-ante. Can’t take responsibility for the fact that he blew the biggest game in franchise history and has the balls to demand that he should’ve been paid big following that game. Throw in Adalius Thomas for good measure. Hernandez is easy because he’s a murderer.
Jay Cutler for the Bears. Given that he was Packers' fans all time favorite QB should say a lot. Also there were some "creative" shirts being sold outside of Soldier Field towards the end of his tenure there. As for the Packers, yeah Bostick hurts, but I think Mark Chmura probably gets the nod here as a Packers fan. He would have retired on a positive note, but his legal issues were very scummy.

Too many Browns fans were falling over themselves defending not only Groper Cleveland but Haslam (again), like shining a light on a dirty pond...
Then you have the Columbus Crew, which is Dee Haslam's project, nominally, collecting trophies. Jimmy should have stuck to skimming off his truck stops.
The Deshaun trade is one thing but actually a majority of browns fans agreed it was time to move on from him and find a new QB

I always felt Kyle Williams got a raw deal. He wasn’t their kick returner and was thrust into the role in the most pressure-filled situation. In those years, I had a bigger issue with Michael Crabtree. I hated how he held out before playing a single game only to be a “fine” receiver.

Jets got a good o-lineman and an elite receiver for Jamal Adams. His tantrum proved good for us. We’re cool.
As a Seahawks fan I would consider putting him on the list for us considering how much capital we gave up and how little of an impact he's made on top of the off-field drama, but that might be a bit of recency bias (plus who knows maybe he somehow turns it around).

The icing on the cake for Raiders fans was that Jamarcus Russell managed to sneak into the #1 overall draft pick over Calvin Johnson and his obvious physical gifts, insane combine performance, and demonstrated dominance from high school to the end of college.

As a ravens fan, I wanted James proche II. He was a terrible WR who had terrible hands. This dude kept dropping passes and punt returns. And the worst part is Jon loved him for whatever reason. Even though it was multiple seasons of failure for him. Finally with a new OC he got cut. Then signed with the browns where he dropped a pass in the end zone and muffled a punt which was recovered by the ravens and they later scored of that. The fact he is still on their roster gives me hope when the ravens play them in the playoffs we get another fumble off him.

Dallas might be Kelvin Joseph. Drafted in the second round and he was never good. Lots of off-the-field issues - he was a passenger in a car that took part in a drive-by shooting. He's the reason Trevor Lawrence had his breakout game against us (allowed a shitton of yards), and his failings opened the slot CB spot for unheralded rookie DaRon Bland to take his snaps. He was traded to the Dolphins in this off-season, and he's since been cut from them.

Honest for the packers would have been fine picking Mandarich for just how much of a let down he was. Drops and overcommitting happen on the field but with how top loaded that draft was we left so much on the table.
John Kasay was actually beloved in Carolina. The last original Panther, got a standing ovation when nailing a game winner for the Saints the next season, Rivera cutting Kasay actually got Ron off to a rough start with a certain portion of the fan base.

Mohammed Wilkerson for the jets had a few really good years, got paid, then proceeded to do fuck all. Dee Millner, Darron Lee, Calvin Pryor; so many guys we drafted in the first round for the defense that just never panned out. Mark Sanchez isn’t really hated anymore cuz we was the last qb to win a playoff game for us. Jamal’s only redeeming factor is that we got 2 great players from the picks we got in the trade.

He got relentlessly booed every time he came back to Chicago, mostly as a backup in preseason games.

From San Francisco. I didn't remember Kyle Williams. I do remember Oh-fer Cofer (Mike Cofer) who missed crucial kicks over and over for 6 seasons. He averaged 66% overall. In 1991, for example, he hit on just 50% of his kicks and missed -- MISSED 7 of 10 from 30-39 yards and 6 of 10 from 40-49. He had no leg either. And they brought him back the next season
I could also nominate Colin Kaepernick. A lot of fans were outraged, far more intensely than on-field play can generate. Even many who sympathized with his motive were angry with him for bringing a hornets' nest into the clubhouse. He was a walking media storm, a constant distraction, a continual crisis. We breathed a huge sigh of relief when he left.

Ravens fan here. I would bet a hefty sum that if the Ravens fan base was asked, Lee Evans would get more votes here than Cundiff. Sure, Cundiff's miss in that game was brutal - but Evans's dropped TD pass was even more so, just a play before. Cundiff's FG would only have tied the game while Evans' TD would have given the Ravens a lead. Also, Cunfidd was actually a very good kicker for the Ravens, being one of the best in the league the season before and also rather good in that season.

There was also Chris Akins in the early 2000's, his short lived stint was famous for him constantly bickering with Mike Sherman and he did not make friends with GB quick with that attitude, he was gone shortly after. Javon Walker and Mike Mckensie get honorable mentions for hiring Drew Rosenhouse as their agent and immediately wanting out of GB cuz they hated how "boring" the town was and didn't care about winning titles, oh yeah and they weren't being paid enough.

I'm yet to meet a fellow Ravens fan who "hates" Rice. Not saying his one infamous moment should be excused, he had been one of the most liked players. He was a very nice guy (may be hard to believe for those who only know him because of that one thing) who kept producing on the field. In fact, for many of us Rice is amongst the most liked players, in spite of that elevator thing. That was inexcusable, and he paid the price.

As a recovering Chargers fan, my old most hated player was Ryan Leaf. Since he left the game he’s earned my forgiveness and after a lot of problems became a stand-up guy. I actually defend him when he gets dragged. I actually hate Eli Manning the most, although he never played for the Chargers, he was drafted by them and technically was a Charger for about 3 minutes.
As a Pats fan, I don’t hate Samuel or Welker. Both contributed too much to the team for one mistake to sour me on them. My mind immediately went to the CONVICTED MURDERER! I mean, come on, man!

But surprise the play was a bust and Geno throws his way anyway and look who didnt really run a route. It is nothing to see 4 catches on 9 targets meanwhile Lockett has 5 on 6 targets. I’m a Dolphins fan and I never even heard of Dion Jordan. The only players who I ever hated on our team was Dan Carpenter and most of the 2007 roster (minus Jason Taylor).
Pats fan here. It’s absolutely Ass-ante. Can’t take responsibility for the fact that he blew the biggest game in franchise history and has the balls to demand that he should’ve been paid big following that game. Throw in Adalius Thomas for good measure. Hernandez is easy because he’s a murderer.
Jay Cutler for the Bears. Given that he was Packers' fans all time favorite QB should say a lot. Also there were some "creative" shirts being sold outside of Soldier Field towards the end of his tenure there. As for the Packers, yeah Bostick hurts, but I think Mark Chmura probably gets the nod here as a Packers fan. He would have retired on a positive note, but his legal issues were very scummy.
