I’m glad that more and more people are attaining a better understanding on what Gundam is really about.
I don’t suggest starting with IBO though. It is pretty opposite of most Gundam narratives. No pun intended lolol

While Iron Blooded Orphans doesn’t touch on the same topics as the main line or other series, it still is a great example of how gundam is more than mechs, and real meat of this franchise are the characters and the politics
It was my first introduction to anime and fuck me was it a ride. I've never had the same experience as the feeling when Mika bursts out of the ground at the end of the first episode. Chills man
that's something I feel people don't understand. I guess cause Giant Robots with Guns=Mindless Shooting with no actual story or developed characters

There is the new Gundam show that literally came out today which u can give a shot. It is called Gundam: the Witch From Mercury. Another good one would be Gundam 00. (Both of these shows don't require pior Gundam knowledge like Iron Blood)

I honestly found the best place to start Gundam was with the very first series. It holds up very well even the fight scenes were ahead of its time.
As fans of Gundam I gotta say this game indeed really fun. My only complaint is the game has less Gundam vibes on it. For example no signatures maps like Jaburo, Space Colony, Von Braun City, etc. The music is good but there is not yet any Gundam series OST. And I hope in the future they add voices for OG Gundam pilot. But other than that the game really fun to play. Oh and maybe they should add more games mode like SDGO have.
Honestly the dopest Gundam moment that I feel like would get people into the show is in Gundam 00 when Tieria is about to be captured with Virtue. When he turns into Nadleeh and wipes out the whole capture crew that hit different. Gundam Wing and Mobile Fighter G Gundam were my first Gundam shows on Toonami. But that moment was sick.
'Gundam 00' was the series that got me hooked. I still watching it. Excellent on all levels. Great one to start with if'n you're new to Gundam. Only 2 very accessible seasons.
00 wasn't my first, but it's my favorite. The movie, not so much.
@@edmondchan3426 Totally agree with you about the movie. Check out the slick Special Edition version of the 00 series. It's like a remix. Added scenes in a condensed edgier style with all the opener and closer music sprinkled throughout the story. Cool stuff.

People have to stop suggesting IBO for first time viewers. The Orgin is a much better starter series. While i wish people would watch the 1979 series, i know that's unrealistic but The Orgin is such a great introduction to the U.C timeline.
What about G Gundam?
People recommend IBO because it's entirely standalone from the rest of the gundam universe. You can watch it knowing absolutely nothing about the different continuities and still leave feeling both satisfied and impressed. W/o all of the other baggage that most other Gundam anime comes with. It's a perfectly acceptable starting point: solid story, great animation, standalone setting. Prime gateway material. Amd this coming from a guy who is currently knee deep in the original series after finishing IBO a couple of months back.
I wouldn’t recommend origin, origin can be slow and can feel like an info dump at times at least imo, it’s more fun to watch it after u figured out the rough background of UC
that and please correct me if I'm wrong I really want to be wrong there's no f****** dub for it or any of the old ones

@@itstheiceman11 make sure to check if you can even play the game when it releases for your platform..Asia, Australia, Middle east, Latin America, New Zealand OCE and many more regions are completely locked from playing the game and theres no news weather thats gona change they simply ignore people when asked :c

iron blooded orphans subverts the perspective gundam stories usually have so i wouldnt be surprised if people who started with that show kinda dont get other gundam stories or feel like they just feel different and also vice versa. people say iron blooded orphans doesnt feel like gundam but its that it is the other side of the gundam coin showing flipped perspectives, basically the usual tgpe of gundam story but flipped on its head.

I see people in the comments that are not recommending IBO as a starting point but I have to disagree.
One of the common reason why people veer away from Gundam is that many people feels like the Gundam franchise is overwhelming. While IBO is not the perfect show, being in an alternate universe makes it easier to get into, and modern graphics definitely help with most younger audience. Same reason why I would recommend 00 as well, and maybe Witch from Mercury when it comes out.
The issue with IBO is that it doesn’t carry the main themes of Gundam, trading it for character drama. It’s not a bad gundam show, just not the best for beginners.
I’d actually recommend Origin/Thunderbolt for new viewers. Both are bite sized thus approachable, and they end on a note that makes it easier to pick up the next show/movie on the timeline
And if Witch from Mercury remains as good as it’s prologue, I’d definitely recommend it
@@CMTechnica I get you, it's kind of the same with the Fate franchise. Fate/Zero is never the best starting point for anime-only but it's usually what's being recommended just because of what it is without considering the main theme of the franchise. Not sure about Thunderbolt but I agree that Origin is a good recommendation for UC.

Fun game, but IMO the game has complete trash match making from a casual perspective- and strongly feel its going to hurt the game in the long run.
Especially as a "new player", i regularly see teams with a good 100~ + accumulative level difference- and while levels definitely dont equal skill, theyre a good approximation of experience, and how often do you think the more experienced side is the one that wins?
I regularly see teams with players ranging from 5-10~, going up against teams comprised largely of 40-70~+
Sometimes youre on the low level team, some times youre on the high level team- either way its a stomp, and not fun.
Still think the first gundam to watch should be 08th MS Team or anything from the universal century era
Gundam is like power rangers robot fights, but ur grandpa keeps slurring about politics in between.
This is more like Overwatch with Gundam skins than Gundam game xD

Iron blooded orphans is one of the best anime of all time. Shit hits all the notes, great fights dope story, twists and turns. All around amazing
