I'd say she's done it that way for the specific reason that she's teaching those of us who ARE rookies (like me) how to do this. Technique generally improves with experience
Absolutely love this tutorial. My mom taught me how to crochet nearly 30 years ago. Now I teach her new stitches that I learn from these types of tutorials. ❤
I'm a total beginner and I was intimidated thinking such a complex looking stitch cannot be easy to make, but you made it so clear and simple! Thank you for very clear instructions, I enjoyed myself immensly. I can't wait to crochet many things using this stitch now!
It is. Even the stitches are called knit & purl like in knitting. But with Tunisian your using only 1 hook & the work stays facing you. Really cool to do.
@@victoriagerrald8711 they make tunisian afghan hooks that have long cables or wires or tubing just like circular knitting needles do so you can do such projects 😊
THis is a wonderful tutorial. Very clear and easy to understand. I am a visual learner so this suited me perfectly. The contrast between the yarn color and hook color make it alot easier to see the stiches. Thank-you!
I rarely comment on youtube videos....but I just want to say thank u for providing the best and easy to follow instructions of anyone I have found!!! Thank u again...and may God bless u for helping others learn!
Ooh, now this is what I call a tutorial. I’ve never crocheted before but I’m so into the way you present it so plainly and simply, so it’s not at all intimidating or confusing. I’m going to watch more of your Tunisian stitch tutorials and get out my mom’s hook and try this for myself. Fibercraftspeople are so cool.
My maternal grandmother taught me basic crochet like granny squares and granny flowered squares chevron stitch etc because she raised me but my paternal grandmother taught me the Afghan stitch which I used more than anything. But I never knew about these great modification stitches. Lovely. I’m 56 and have been crocheting since I was 10. Never ever too late to learn more.
Thanks so much for this fab video! 🙏 I have never been able to knit, but I learned crochet so easily... Then I came across Tunisian crochet which seems like the perfect blend of crochet/knitting. I had no trouble learning this stitch as a first time Tunisian crocheter with your wonderful video! As others mentioned - perfect pace, perfect colours for clarity and the yarn type you used isn't fuzzy so the stitches were clear as day. It can be really annoying to watch a tutorial that over-explains every single step (to someone with a few years experience) when you're learning a new stitch. Really truly a great video, thanks so so much. ❤️🙏
encountered tunisian stitch just a day ago while learning the usual stitches snd quickly became interested in trying. your tutorials are very easy to understand specially for a person like me who is a visual learner! thank you so much!
I've been crocheting as a child. I do everything except crewel and latch hook. You are the best teacher I've ever seen. Some people dumb things down; you don't. You just referred people to your previous works videos if they don't understand. Your teaching style is a joy. I love this stitch. Great for anyone's collection. So, glad I found your channel. Subscribing now!
My mother taught when I was little, and by around seven years old, I could do simple afghans with an afghan hook, and bang out a ripple-ghan with a regular hook. I taught myself the correct front and back versions, as well as turning chain math, since my mother needed my father's help for that part. :-) This is a wonderful craft for anyone to learn! I look forward to passing this on to both of my children.
I'm a knitter and a crocheter and I just finished making my first scarf doing the Tunisian simple stitch. I plan to start a new scarf tomorrow using the honeycomb stitch. I really appreciate the clarity of your instructions. :)
I'll give you a tip. Find out all the flaws people make in crochet then find the best tutorials that make your crochet the best. There are so many tiny things that can improve your crochet 100%.......
Thank you so much that is fabulous. So simple and you explained everything so clearly. I have tried some others and I thought I knew what to do but they were a little bit more complicated. Wonderful, I can now do Tunisian crochet all day with this stitch.
Love this crochet stitch so easy and so effective for a beginner. And when learning to teach myself crochet , found this video by Happyberry so brilliant. No music, no gabbing in between or over explaining she takes it very slowly to allow your brain to absorb the process. I so greatful.my grandmother crocheted and had her work in a museum, sadly she did try to teach me as a child but sadly her hands would go so quick I could not take things in. I think she would be so proud to know I was carrying on this beautiful skill / artistry . So now can knit like Mum and crochet as Nan did even as a novice, thank you do much happy berry.
I would like to thank you so very much. Today I feel very low and your video and your soothing voice is the first thing that made me feel like everything is going to be alright.
That was so hypnotic. Crocheting was the only thing I could stand of textile work at school. Unfortunately my teacher didn’t know how to crotchet so I didn't learn very much and in those days affordable personal computers and Internet were science fiction... One thing I remember being relatively easy was making mittens, useful things in my country. I think it involved on one, very easy stitch and the cuff was simply done in reverse. I have a faint memory about not sewing the thumb (or anything else) but somehow using only the hook - there certainly wasn't any visible seam! I cannot wait to finish studying and retire (the latter will happen first at my rate) so I can learn to crochet. I have already bought the hooks! I was never good at learning from books how to do something so a special thank you for people like you teaching new generations and keeping traditions alive. My mother used to cut milk bags (inside was always black) and sometimes plastic bags into strips and crotchet mats for the porch, bathroom and kitchen floor. (Rugs were utilitarian rather than home decoration, although we did have some "Sunday best" rugs.) I am sure she used a hook for those, rather than doing it hand: perhaps it was possible to make tighter and more durable mats or because it was easier to do over several days? I wonder what size hook that would be? (My aunt was too posh to use milk bags: she bought color co-ordinated plastic strips for the same purpose, though she prefferred to weave them.)
Very good video. Thank you for explaining how to recognize the stitch in the previous row. That could have been a difficult problem for some of us. Bravo. ❤️🐈⬛
Thank you for your video on tunisian crochet stitches, i have books on different kinds of stitches ,but it is so much easier to understand and to follow your tuition which is amazing.
I like to learn new stitches with cotton yarn and make a wash cloth to give away. Honeycomb would be good since it is textured for scrubbing pots and pans. Great video
I would love to see this honeycomb in a round shape to use as a doily for some round tables I have. Never done Tunisian crochet, but because of a few samples I have seen in videos, I ordered a set of wooden Tunisian crochet hooks. As soon as life is less hectic I am going to learn this! Yarning hobbies are my relaxing new bedtime routine. Some crochet, some loom knitting, and soon Tunisian crochet. Thanks for sharing your craft!
I love it! So beautiful, and you make it seem so easy. I agree with the comment that you have a very smooth, clear and soothing teaching method. Thank you! Can't wait to try this!!!
Super easy to follow along this was my first time trying out long needle crocheting and I loved the result. I actually made a scarf that I will be selling at my pop-up shop.
One of my friends who taught me how to tunisian crochet sent me here to learn this technique because the method I'm using my cloth is curling. I'm so eager to learn this technique when my new hooks come in as well as some yarn. 😊😊😊💖💖💖
Great video! I've done simple stitch before, but I'd recently seen a video on purp stitch that left me confused. This cleared up everything and taught me a beautiful new stitch, so thank you!
I love the way you teach, so simple and so clear, thank you so much. I’m making a blanket for my granddaughter and the honey comb stitch is perfect for what I want. 😊
This is so relaxing to watch but at the same time it's frustrating - because I can't crochet, knit or sew to save my life. It's so clever and makes me wonder who first devised these intricate stitches and how.
I love the variation of stitches....I have made baby blankets just with the basic stitch and then embroidered little flowers here and there on it... the only difference is it was always known to me as the Afghan Stitch.....easy and most satisfying to do for certain! I shall be trying this variation for sure. Thank you!
I’m in love with anything honeycomb-shaped at the moment 😄. This is beautiful. Was looking for the perfect stitch to make a kindle sleeve and I think this is it. Thanks for the tutorial 😊
Thank you for these clear, simple instructions. I think I might give it a try, because it is very pretty. I already know the basic Tunisian crochet stitch, but this is so much prettier.

I love this. I’ve never gotten the knack of knitting and this is so pretty like knitting. And I understand it! I’m going to pursue learning this more. Thanks for this lesson ❤️
This is so cool and simple! I’ve been doing the Tunisian smock stitch (mermaid scales) with a color changing yarn and realize I’m not a fan of how that looks. I had previously done with by changing between two colors and wanted things to be easier, but the color changing yarn isn’t quite how I wanted it to look. BUT, I was thinking about how cool the Tunisian needle is and I’m excited to try other stitches with it!
Thank you for this amazing tutorial. Usually I found them too complicated to follow without tools but I could follow and understand exactly what you’re saying. Keep doing what you’re doing- I’m going to subscribe ;)
I L💖VE this! The stitch looked complicated to do until u demonstrated it. Thanks for making it look super easy! I can't wait to try it! This is the first stitch that I've ever seen that u don't turn your work. L💖VE! L💖VE! L💖VE the look of this!! 😍😍
Thank you for this tutorial, such a cute stitch. I love learning new stitches. I am already doing a lap blanket with the simple stitch and purl together and I am almost done with it.
I can't believe someone came up with this specific long combination of movements, to me, a complete rookie, this is mindblowing
I'd say she's done it that way for the specific reason that she's teaching those of us who ARE rookies (like me) how to do this. Technique generally improves with experience
Ikr but she makes it so easy to understand
@@aubrieia9456 I thought so too!🤩 Easy peasy
Elizabeth Newton i think the person meant the invention behind the stitches and crocheting.. to me its mindblowing too
Yeah.. I wonder the person who created this just how is he/she thinking to create such thing

It is like a combination
What I thought
It is. Even the stitches are called knit & purl like in knitting. But with Tunisian your using only 1 hook & the work stays facing you. Really cool to do.

I don't think it will work. Because the hook is too short. But maybe if you'll do little squares and sew them together as a quilt.
