    Thanks man... this will make my life so much easier... I am just about getting ready to build my first ever carbon frame aero road bike and I wasn't going to go Di2 as i thought it would be way too hard/complicated to assemble... but you changed my mind after watching your video... Now I gotta come up with the extra $$ to buy al the extra parts but... I think it will be SWEET...

    The foam on the rear brake housing is easier to insert with the hose sticking out of the head tube. Saw that on some other video.

    You can spray a little bit of isopropyl alcohol into the foam tube to make it easier to slide over the hose. The alcohol dries pretty quick

    Would zip ties along the rear brake hose that runs through the frame be an effective substitute for the foam tube, to prevent rattles? Thank you for the very helpful, clear and precise video tutorials.

    • @ridesofjapan
      @ridesofjapan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A brake hose is most likely too stiff and heavy to be held in place by zip ties alone. You can make your own damping material pretty easy yourself though: th-cam.com/video/Po3rQAimrDU/w-d-xo.html

    More like a Q. Must I removed the Bottom Bracket to successfully upgrade my system to R8050 or is there a way/hack around it? My 2017 TCR Advanced has capped hole on Top Tube forward-drive side and another capped hole lower Seat Tube drive side behind the crankset. Are those holes for Di2 electronic wire routing. Btw, great channel and thanks

    • @ridesofjapan
      @ridesofjapan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marc Bautista that sounds like ports for di2 indeed.
      I think it would be very hard to route di2 with the bottom bracket in... might be possible to fiddle your way trough the down tube if you remove the fork.
      I manage to remove a full di2 setup without removing the BB, but I think installing it will be a lot more challenging...

    Hey man, would you recommend using internal foam damper for the Di2 cables instead of the Di2 wire holder clips for dampening sound inside the frame? I've seen in another video where a guy used Jagwire foam damper for the Di2 cables and housing.

    • @ridesofjapan
      @ridesofjapan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the foam tube is made the brake hose... I don't think it makes too much sense using it for the Di2 cable... I guess you could but the cable clips work great, and if you for whatever reason need to remove the cables it's easier just dealing with the clips in my opinion.

    Nice! 👍 On the Partslist for the Di2 Wires 1400mm for the Handlebar. I plan also to put everything inside the frame an handlebar but is 1400 not to long for the Handlebar (junction to the left shifter)?

    • @ridesofjapan
      @ridesofjapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Patrick Katzmair I thought so as well. I had the 1400mm already and tried it, and while there some slack to stuff into the ends , I reckon it actually helps with the rattling. Well done! How long did the whole thing take? I think 1/2 way through I would have had to have a self imposed time out in a padded room. BTW, not being familiar with the Open frame, was it an upgrade over the Bokeh or just a replacement?

      Haha, yeah.... making sure you film every thing makes a evenings build take forever hehe.
      I would say it’s an upgrade for me as it will be my only bike. I wanted something a bit lighter as 90% of our rides are in the mountains.
      That being said, the Bokeh is an awesome bike, would have been happy continue riding that as well. But The stars aligned to make this frame a reality.

    Do you have it so that both of your sti lever activate the rear derailleur?

      Joshua Amaral correct, same button configuration on both levers.
      Only difference is the hidden button on top of the levers that’s set to shift up on the right and shift down on the left lever.

    How much more weight is Di2 vs mechanical.

    • @trekkeruss
      @trekkeruss 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I am not mistaken, current Di2 is lighter than mechanical, but only by a few grams. The difference becomes greater when wires and cables are factored in.

    lol. Di2 routing made simple?! It’s called SRAM AXS eTap!
    Why on earth would anyone choose di2 over a wireless system... I have no clue.
