Here's a little funny story that goes along with this video! If any of you remember the first insaneintherainmusic Jazz Challenge back in 2016, the winner of that contest was Maurice Soque! Maurice actually happened to be a Berklee student at the time! The grand prize from the first Jazz Challenge was supposed to be a collaboration that would get uploaded to my channel, and that never ended up happening. 3 years later, Maurice, is actually playing Tenor Sax 2 in this ensemble! I guess this is our collab??? Anyways, hope you guys enjoy the medley :)

I just figured it out. Movement 1: The Joy of Gaming - This movement represents many of the 1st video game themes you might’ve heard as a kid, giving off a nice, warm scent of nostalgia. These themes are also very easy to recognize, as many franchises here are very well-known. Movement 2: Press Pause - This covers some more relaxing/heartwarming music from many fan-favorite video games, such as Kingdom Hearts. Some people even cried a bit when these played, as they might’ve played during the resolution of the game, with an emotional end. And some are just straight up beautiful. Movement 3: Battles and Bosses - The Final Stand. This brings back many painful memories of a tough fight they’ve had with an odd force they weren’t aware of before. The struggle is high, and the odds seem entirely against them. But still, there is a glimmer of hope that they’ll get through alive.
I cried a little while listening to this. I have played almost every one of these games (sorry mega man, I’ll get to play you someday), and each one was definitely a joy to play. While they all have they’re frustrating moments (getting lost in Metroid, dying MANY times to a difficult platforming challenge in Donkey Kong, landing a critical attack that kills that shiny mareep you were trying to catch in heart gold, etc.), the feelings I have for them and the memories I have created with them are ones of joy. No bad things that could have happened in those games will ever overshadow the fact that I had fun while playing them. Thank you very much for making this happen. I’m very excited to see what you’ll do with the other two parts!
Wow, I'm a little too jealous of your childhood ;*) Always wished I could play those games in my childhood years before I lost that young gaming vibe. Pokemon Platinum and a Sonic game on the GameCube were the only highlights of my memories. My family never had much so I couldn't grind other games, but those 2 games really gave me nostalgic memories I can never forget. Thank you, insaneintherain :)
Seeing people here and there move even a tiny bit to the beat whilst playing is lovely to watch. Getting straight up goosebumps from y'all. Amazing job ♥
The transition from route 26 to gusty garden was so masterful, so smooth... I got chills. And the one from DK to jump up super star as well. Amazing project, now I can't wait for part 2 and 3
Glad you liked my transitions! :) I think they're so important to arranging a great medley! You will love movements 2 & 3! They're very different, but good in their own right!
Oh my gosh, this is incredible. I loved the Pollyanna live version, but wow, I did not expect something like that taken to this level so soon. Good work, Carlos!
*Now this, is epic* No, seriously though this is absolutely fantastic! Everything was arranged/performed so well, and that transition from Dk island swing to Jump up superstar was so smooth! 👍
I absolute love at 1:49 where you can see the piano player in the background playing a start swinging a little with a big ol’ smile on here face, she looks like she is having such a great time.
2:19 my favourite part; stretching out the melody to build up tension on the V, back to a common 1 using transposition of the former theme. It could also be that I'm a diehard Mario fan, but I love to look at quirks and decisions made in the arranging process. This was _epic_ Carlos!
Massive congratulations to everyone involved. The amount of coordination and cooperation required to pull something off this fantastically is incredible. So happy to see the reactions you've been getting and I can't wait to see the other movements!!

All the players were fantastic.
