Love driving by the rail yard in San Antonio on my way to work. About 15 tracks abreast. Enjoy seeing them coming any going at all hours. There are 2 tracks I cross on my way home. Not as fun when the train stops on them for extended periods I’ll tell you that haha.

You have made another video at this crossing but it was early in the morning or at night

At 14:06 that crossing is it private? It says Rail Way and the 6 tracks sign is in white letters it does look different

Yep. Its the private entrance to the NVRR yard. They also have a cats-eyed tracks sign on the far signal facing the other direction.

I have a question. What inspired you to film railroad crossing around city’s and parks? Also I have one more question. Do you like railroad crossings more then trains? Or do you like trains more then railroad crossings?

I grew up around trains and Railroad Crossings and when I was little I would be taken to see trains at railroad crossings. I like both trains and Railroad crossings the same which is why I film both and when I film one without the other it always feels like something is missing either way it goes. I started filming to save trains I've seen and film railroad crossings also because as time flies railroad crossigns have changes to them and like to have old videos of crossings which is why I zoom in on crossing lights as they change eventually.

Great comp! It's amazing how many crossings you've seen! All the way from 2012 to now.

Being a railroad buff, since I was an itty little boy/kid, some 57 yrs ago, as much as I enjoy your videos, I wish you would start considering including the round yellow RxR signs as well. I used to get so excited as a boy of 4, whenever I'd see these signs, knowing what they meant, just from the sign itself. I miss that you don't include them, just saying, from one railroad buff to another, for future upcoming videos, if you will plz, thx.

Usually the signs are far from the crossings so I don't include them. I like to get close shots of the crossings. Maybe one day but with my filming preference I like to film crossings close and not to interested in filming the yellow signs. Maybe if I do it when I film light rail video and combine shots of close and far to include signs but that will only be with light rail videos since they always come and not as bad when vehicles block shots.

Nice catch. Hey, there’s some questions I have regarding your railfanning series and about this topic in general re: railroad crossing signals - do you have an Instagram or other social media account where I can message you on? If so, what is it?
