    Of all the cameras I have used (miscellaneous compacts, Nikon Dxxx series, Fujifilm XT20...), this is the camera that I love the most. I bought it in 2014 I believe and still use it today. It is not too large, has an excellent lens and the resolution, while not very high by todays standards, is still high enough to show a sharp image on a 4K screen. I love the variable aspect ratio and the controls for setting aperture, shutter speed and ev+/-. You get the best results using raw but this is valid for all cameras. I would love to buy the LX100 mk2 but unfortunately I don't have the funds for it right now...

      The only thing that is still alluring about the fuji cameras are the film simulations. If this camera did have the film simulations, it would be a double win!

    Great camera, my LX100 gave me the greatest fun in my 50 years of photo hobby. I took the largest number of pictures with this camera out of the 50+ cameras I have had over the years. I love it so much that I bought a LX100 II in 2022. I bought a Canon full frame mirrorless camera the same day I bought the LX100 II but rarely use it. The luxury compact camera keeps me company all the time.

    • @cngpictures.videos
      @cngpictures.videos  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s funny how the compact factor makes a huge difference. Even mirrorless and small lens is still a different level of carrying the camera. How do you like the the lx100ii, are the improvements worth the price?

    • @aiofilms
      @aiofilms ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@cngpictures.videos To me, the biggest improvement the Mark II has over the original is the on-camera USB charging capability, very handy. The increased pixel count doesn't matter much. I was equally happy with the 12 MP in the original LX100. For me, I just wanted another one in better condition and happened to come across a reasonably priced second hand one at that point. I would be 95% as happy staying with the original one. I fact, I am keep both cameras to date.

      @@ismailmanssouri1687 Video quality of this camera is decent considering the year it was designed. Both generations have the same video feature and image quality and 4K video has a crop. You don’t even need to get the Mark II if video is your major concern. I don’t shoot video very much so I hope I remember correctly. You will be better off comparing their specs online.
      Oh, one more thing, thanks to its genius design, the camera utilizes the maximum sensor area when you shoot different aspect ratios. That means, you actually get a slightly wide field of view shooting 16:9 photos or HD video than you would shooting 4:3. It’s not a simple letter-boxing of the center part of the sensor, very thoughtful feature.

      @@cngpictures.videos My style of metering, thanks to the EVF, is completely manual. My right eye is the light meter. I usually preset the f-stop and exposure time according to the light condition. For example, on a dull day, the exposure time would be dialed to 1/125, the f-stop to f5.6. Finally I adjust the exposure by turning the Control Ring, guided by what I see through the EVF. WYSIWYG. What you see is what you grab! No need for light meters in mirrorless cameras!

    It was on my radar , but I found the viewfinder a bit too small. Maybe I opt for the GX9 because it has a tilting viewfinder which is so much better for streetphotography . 10-12mp is still good enough to print on A3+. It is only when you start to crop or have special light situations that you can start to see the difference with f.i. my Xpro2 or D850. That said , the LX100 or II is a good camera.

    Also my experience with this camera is wonderful. I use it since four years with normal precutions and dust is not a problem, untilnow. Picture are sharp and imagine can be enlarged for printing. I use it in manual mode and a defect is that the camera doesn't seem able to remain fixed in this mode of use during shot session and turns to iso and wb according computer choice . May be because of my incapacity.

      do you have white balance set to balance? (if it is in AWB, the computer will make a choice for you). as for iso, unless you have it set at AUTO ISO, the iso should remain at what you set it to be! at least that is my experience with this camera.

    This has defiitely been a good camera, and the only two things preventing me from saying it's a GREAT camera is the exp comp dial and the focus. I find it too easy to accidentally hit that dial when I'm carrying it around. I would prefer it to be similar to the G9's dial where just turning the camera back on will reset it to your saved preference. As far as the zoom, I just hate how slow electronic zooms are.

    • @cngpictures.videos
      @cngpictures.videos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't had any experience with the G9's exposure comp dials but I do understand the issues with this style of dials where you can rotate by accident and not realize it when you turn on the camera. As for the zoom, definitely slower than a manual zoom. hopefully one day zoom motor technology improves? haha. I guess it is always a trade off between size and speed.

      The lens cap is a Panasonic accessory. Lumix dmw-lfac1. A good accessory to replace the lens cap to make it more of a compact camera solution. I personally don't change wb alot (just use autowhite balance and play with the temperature in Lightroom after if the awb didn't do a good job). It is alittle risky to do it with a point and shoot (cameras without a mirror) but I didn’t keep it facing the sun for super long. I also used large f stop (to get the star shaped effects), high shutter speed and I also focused not on the sun but on things in the foreground.
