Very solid advice! The only thing I would disagree is on wearing white socks outside of the gym. Nowadays they make sport and casual socks in all colors, so you can have them go with your shorts and jeans nicely. That way you avoid the "booty" effect when wearing white sneakers, or have them ankles stand out when wearing darker sneakers.
I def need to get my sock game up. I also just wanna say I love your videos. I just found you last week and you have the exact style I'm going for. Also might have binge-watched most of your videos haha
A weird combo i really love is my dr marten‘s 101 with a pair of black socks with bananas on it (from happysocks). Somehow the bananas work perfectly with the yellow stitches of the shoe. And they also add something playful to the edgier look if the doc‘s :)
I’ve always liked crew socks !How times have changed with socks over the years is quite interesting. I’m going to be 48 in May. Yorkshireman/recent American citizen who’s been living in Florida 21 years. When I was 18 white socks with jeans and trousers was a no-no, and considered immature or too casual. Now that’s acceptable. 10 years ago I rarely saw crew socks, now all the young guys at the gym are rocking them, black Nike crew socks with Nike sneakers probably being the most popular look. The older guys in the gym are still mostly wearing no show to ankle socks, but I think some of us are gravitating more toward crew socks.

There is a way to style them! I wear white knee high socks with the 3 stripes at the top; I wear them with 4"-5" inseam shorts. I like to match the stripes to the shorts . It gets me in the 80s mood ✌️🪩
I've bought a pair of Cons monochrome white sneakers and was confused between the ankle length ones and the calf length ones. I guess I should go with the mid-calf length ones. TY.

I remember when knee high tall tube socks were common & popular (1970 thru 1984 or so). The fabric was cool, breathable, stretchable acrylic elastic. To make more money, manufacturers changed the fabric to thick, tight, non-stretchy cotton with tight nylon elastic. The cost for the cotton fiber yarn was much less than the acrylic stretch nylon yarn, mo' money for the hosiery mills, so why not?. These socks when worn up tall were very uncomfortable & HOT all the time since they were so thick. Everybody stopped wearing this style because of this by 1989. The other reason was the preferred shorts length went to knee length or longer. This gave a home-boy ghetto gangsta kinda look that very few men liked when wearing tall socks. Tall socks still have their place with certain sports such as baseball, intramural sand lot baseball, football, soccer, rugby, etc... This is because of the extra protection given to the wearer. It's no fun to slide into home plate wearing quarter socks since you will always leave a streak of hair, skin, & blood on the slide area. This is followed by 10 days of antibiotics for the raging infection that follows, ouch, "pain!", no fun at all! What goes around comes around, so this style will come back eventually like all styles do. A welcome and surprisingly cool break when seen worn by young people on walking across campus or shopping at the mall these days. The standard gen-z or gen-x street clothes uniform with shorts & shwoosh logo crew socks is BORING and so-so--cliche. You say it doesn't matter, they're just socks. Okay, but we live in a world where everything matters, even this. So how about it, hosiery manufacturers? Start making tall sports socks with stretchy comfortable acrylic yarn again, and your sales will boom to accommodate the new trend. Not sure about all this, reader? Do a google search for the movie "Everybody Wants Some" set in 1980 about college baseball guys. Download & watch, or do a search for images. Tyler Hoechlin (a.k.a. Superman) looks pretty cool in his black striped tall socks. The other guys are dressed this way too. Try a pair for yourself if you can find acrylic elastic socks, and see if you like them (no cotton nylon please). Or take a look at the TH-cam video that Alec Benjamin put up titled "Water Fountain". Alec looked pretty good when he was younger & wore that style every day. Or take a look at Olympic athlete Mondo Duplantis doing his pole vault sport. The smooth fabric will slide more easily over the bar if he touches it with his legs when going over. This can make all the difference in whether you win that jump and a gold medal or not. And no, he does not wear that length sock for casual street wear, for work on the pole vault only. They still look good on him. Check it out.

It’s a great look 👌🏾 And the matching the sock with ur pant to carry the pant down or to match your shoe on the way up- THAT is the question! 🤔 lol. Lately I’ve been all “carry the shoe-up ⬆️ ” 🧦. i wore nike socks with adidas shoes once, people couldnt stop staring and pointing, i thought i was rocking it but turns out i just made one of the biggest fashion faux pas next to socks and sandals. now i just wear long pants and my knees havent seen the sun in over 5 years.

I always find this one funny. I didn’t have a pair of black Adidas shorts or black Nike sneakers so I had to mix the two. I also like to keep things uniform but saying that, who wrote the rules that Adidas doesn’t go with Nike. I find it funny because if my shorts were Asos sports shorts, that would be ‘fine,’ and you can mix and match different branded jeans to a different brand of sweater, as long as it isn’t a sports brand, like Adidas or Nike. Doesn’t make much sense does it

I'm curious as to why we're starting to see the slouching of the crew sock again. It was big in the late 80s/90s and then in the 00s we started seeing crew socks being pulled up tight. Now again, we're starting to see just a little bit of slouch to them (like they are slowly falling down). Is this just fashion in/fashion out (everything comes back around) or is this to give off an impression (e.g. if my socks look like they are falling down, does that send the message that I'm more active or athletic)? Even in your video your crew socks are starting to slouch, so what's the deal with this fashion statement?
It’s shocking to me that anyone would wear white socks in Europe. That was always pegged as a way to spot an American. I don’t believe I’ve ever been educated so well about socks. This video is awesome! Thank you! 🙂👍

I think you are overthinking it personally. I just wear them at a height I like on me no matter what others are doing. 👍
