Well if you are asking yourself that question, this video will hopefully teach you a thing or two. Socks are an item of clothing that is often overlooked but, they can make or break an outfit, so they’re definitely worth paying attention to.
This video will be broken down into 3 sections. Section 1 will be all about the different types of socks and when to wear them. Then we’ll move onto colours, textures, and patterns and how to style them, and finally, the best places to buy your socks from.

A weird combo i really love is my dr marten‘s 101 with a pair of black socks with bananas on it (from happysocks). Somehow the bananas work perfectly with the yellow stitches of the shoe. And they also add something playful to the edgier look if the doc‘s :)
Very solid advice!
The only thing I would disagree is on wearing white socks outside of the gym.
Nowadays they make sport and casual socks in all colors, so you can have them go with your shorts and jeans nicely. That way you avoid the "booty" effect when wearing white sneakers, or have them ankles stand out when wearing darker sneakers.

Another great video! Crew socks 🧦 have made an amazing comeback in these past few years! I’ve never seen them thins “in vogue” as nowadays. Especially with a brand or logo. It’s a great look 👌🏾
And the matching the sock with ur pant to carry the pant down or to match your shoe on the way up- THAT is the question! 🤔 lol. Lately I’ve been all “carry the shoe-up ⬆️ ” 🧦.
I’ve been doing the crew sock with stripes bc I LOVE the vintage inspire look it gives. Instantly dates me to the 80s era Mike Tyson or 60s/70s Paul Newman, Robert Redford 😎

I’ve always liked crew socks !How times have changed with socks over the years is quite interesting. I’m going to be 48 in May. Yorkshireman/recent American citizen who’s been living in Florida 21 years. When I was 18 white socks with jeans and trousers was a no-no, and considered immature or too casual. Now that’s acceptable. 10 years ago I rarely saw crew socks, now all the young guys at the gym are rocking them, black Nike crew socks with Nike sneakers probably being the most popular look. The older guys in the gym are still mostly wearing no show to ankle socks, but I think some of us are gravitating more toward crew socks.

I don't know if this song is used outside of the US but my philosophy on socks is basically 🎼🎶"Black socks, they never get dirty the longer you wear them the stronger they get." 😬😂
I like the two patterned ones. Especially the white ones with grey soles cause of the colour contrast and dirt doesn’t show as much.

i wore nike socks with adidas shoes once, people couldnt stop staring and pointing, i thought i was rocking it but turns out i just made one of the biggest fashion faux pas next to socks and sandals. now i just wear long pants and my knees havent seen the sun in over 5 years.

@@HarryHas the uniqlo socks are pretty affordable here in the Philippines, and they have promo if you buy 3 save alot of money, I bought the supima cotton pique socks in white, wine and dark grey

i like the over the calf socks cuz they’re just comfortable n stay in place but i know i know its not fashionable to wear them with shorts
There is a way to style them! I wear white knee high socks with the 3 stripes at the top; I wear them with 4"-5" inseam shorts. I like to match the stripes to the shorts . It gets me in the 80s mood ✌️🪩
Socks are the most underrated piece of clothing and honestly my second favorite type of clothing! First are hoodies and parkas

Could you do a video on shoe laces? Might sound a bit stupid but I always struggle with the 'proper' way of tying my laces with different styles of shoes
I normally leave them as they come unless they need a change. So far, I only change my common projects laces and I have a video on that on the channel 👍

Thanks for the video, very good. However one of my great pet peeves is the mixture of incorrect brands of socks, tennis shoes and clothes, as we see it at minute 2:47. Example: Adidas and Nike don't go together.
I always find this one funny. I didn’t have a pair of black Adidas shorts or black Nike sneakers so I had to mix the two. I also like to keep things uniform but saying that, who wrote the rules that Adidas doesn’t go with Nike. I find it funny because if my shorts were Asos sports shorts, that would be ‘fine,’ and you can mix and match different branded jeans to a different brand of sweater, as long as it isn’t a sports brand, like Adidas or Nike. Doesn’t make much sense does it

I personally don’t like anything higher than low-cut socks with shorts and trainers. Longer socks make my legs look shorter, and here in the States (maybe not much in the less sunny UK), crew socks with shorts leave an unsightly tan line.
It’s shocking to me that anyone would wear white socks in Europe. That was always pegged as a way to spot an American. I don’t believe I’ve ever been educated so well about socks. This video is awesome! Thank you! 🙂👍

I'm curious as to why we're starting to see the slouching of the crew sock again. It was big in the late 80s/90s and then in the 00s we started seeing crew socks being pulled up tight. Now again, we're starting to see just a little bit of slouch to them (like they are slowly falling down). Is this just fashion in/fashion out (everything comes back around) or is this to give off an impression (e.g. if my socks look like they are falling down, does that send the message that I'm more active or athletic)? Even in your video your crew socks are starting to slouch, so what's the deal with this fashion statement?
I think you are overthinking it personally. I just wear them at a height I like on me no matter what others are doing. 👍
