My husband was raised by his grandparents and they dressed and sold fresh chickens, also sold fryers as 2-1/2 to 3 lbs, never larger. Now they make them 7-8 lbs, tough old birds too.

When I cook chicken I use about the same seasonings, but I add paprika and chili power, set the meat out and let it come down to close to room temp( cold meat seizes up and becomes tough when you heat it up). I use two cast iron skillets at the same time, one for the big pieces and one for the smaller ones, because they take diff cooking times and over crowding the skillet makes the grease bubble up and makes a mess.
Paula can you give us a mini tour of your area surrounding your kitchen..I love your furniture and have some of it thank you for sharing your cooking recipes

My mother taught me to fry chicken in a cast iron skillet and she never did a marinade and it was the best fried chicken. She used salt, pepper, accent and paprika. She would add the same seasonings to the flour, use a brown paper bag to shake it all up and fry in vegetable or corn oil because back then nobody ever heard of peanut oil. I love chicken backs too Paula and so did my mom. She's been gone 7 years now and I wish she was here to make some of her fried chicken and peach dumplings. Ma'am Paula Deen I lost my mother when I was 12 so I never really learned to cook her favorites and my favorites from her but one of her dishes she called it chicken fricassee because she didn't know what else to call it. It was a greenish color with broth with a wonderful taste and then floated biscuits on top and baked until they were brown. Most delicious mean from childhood. Are you familiar with any recipes you make?

Fried Chicken. I love fried chicken. I will go out of my way for good fried chicken. In 2012 we traveled from the West coast to the East coast in our RV, taking 3 months from California to Pennsylvania, and back. Every where we stopped for supper, I would always try to order the fried chicken. Must have eaten over 30 fried chicken dinners. Here are the results: Tied for Number One; Paula Deen’s fried chicken in Cherokee, Tn. Definitely not a small chicken. It was only one half of a chicken, but had to get a take out for half of it. Very delicious. Also Tied for Number One; Loretta Lynn’s Kitchen in Hurricane Mills, Tn. We went thru the buffet. When it was time for desert, just got more chicken. No where else on our trip could anyone make chicken close to as good. Just for reference, as you go from west to east, the Fried Chicken gets better and the Chinese food and Mexican food gets worse.
I miss her old show with her laughing more and actually trying the food. Please Paula try the food. This is my first time watching and I was disappointed by that. Every good cook tries their food.

Mrs. Dean inspite of everything I continue to watch you I’ve missed your presence but so grateful for TH-cam you are truly an amazing person & can’t say it enough “ y’all “ I love it your the “ BEST” take care “ & Gods Speed 🙏🏾pray ALL IS WELL!!!!
I have ALWAYS Loved Miss Paula Dean. True American Southern gentile class.
Watching you makes me feel like everything will be ok. I love you Paula always have always will ❤️.... your just good people.
You said it perfectly. There's something very comforting about these little videos.
Yummy!! This makes me want fried chicken, and it's only 8:30am!! 😋
Paula is just so comforting 🧡
Are all of you racist?
Jordan Christopher ????
Would love to see a breakfast dish!! Pancakes? Eggs or casserole? Muffins? Paula’s favorites breakfasts!
375° is a helpful temp. Then only fry 1-2 pieces at a time rather than all at once. This makes sure temp stays right.
She had posted those
Breakfast/Brunch Casserole
Janine Nava I forgot she had done the French toast casserole haha. But would still love to see more! 😄
Pop overs?? Strata? Lots of yummy breakfast ideas. But my go to for a yummy breakfast is eggs rancheros. Pork chorizo, minced onion, a can of fire roasted tomato, poached eggs, yellow corn tortillas, sour cream, fresh avocado and cilantro...are all components to a hearty breakfast! I'd love to show you how I fix this!!
Paula, I love ALL your videos. Love how you are so real, relatable, fun to listen to and you have such a great personality.

I love Paula Deen. Just adore this lady. She still the best chef ever . Why? Because when she cooks it gives the feeling of momma
EVERY PAULA DEAN RECIPE I EVER USED CAME OUT PERFECTLY. Thanks Paula!
Paula, thank you for inviting us into your home...it's just like being invited to a dear friend's. I enjoy your recipes and hospitality!
Yes indeed!
She had a roach on her wall
Ms. Deen, your dogs are gorgeous!!!
This isn't Animal Planet. The dogs crawling up her leg while she's cooking is gross.
I never knew dark meat took longer to cook. Thanks for the tip "Aunt Paula" (You appear to be to me. )
Right lol
I didn’t know because it was dark beat, but I knew because it was thicker pieces. I always cut up the chicken myself.
It sounds good, I can't wait to try it! Thanks for sharing the house seasoning them are the exact seasonings I like to use as well and I love your southern accent!!
Everybody still loves this lovely lady thanks for still sharing these great recipes ❤️
I love Paula Deen!
Luv ya Paula
Get a life ractist
I always seasoned my flour and it's such a messy job. I will season my egg dip now instead and use some hot sauce.
Your chicken looks soooooo good! Thanks for sharing your tips. ❤️
I would love to see you make baked lasagna it’s one of my favorites dishes I make sometimes for my mom and me. I would also love to to see you also make pineapple upside down cake. I love chicken and thank you for making videos hope you keep making them.
Myra Robinson Bivins haven’t made a pineapple upside down cake in so very long. Think I’ll make one.
Pineapple upside down cake with that sauce from the Betty Crocker cookbook was my favorite birthday cake.
Charles Eagan I have not made one in forever either loving the cake it’s one of my favorites.
Zuxiasunicorn oo I have not try the sauce from that for the cake I always use the juice from the pineapples .

Lol I know what you mean.
Tbh, it's actually pretty good. Gives it a kick.
That’s not a very hot hot sauce adds more flavor than heat
Love this lady, and the love and attention she gives her dogs!
So glad you’re cooking again! That chicken is great, the tips even better! 69 years old, from Albany, Ga, retired NASA Physicist and Black. Don’t live near any of your restaurants but I used to go to Savannah to visit my last child, Savannah State-he ate there a lot!👍🏾😊 Truth to tell that line was just too long for me in the HEAT!😎
No need to capitalize your identity.
Miss Paula never stopped cooking.
Do y'all cook?

Aww just luv you Paula....miss seeing your cooking show..but luv this on the tube🙏💜🤗

I cooked your recipe (with some modifications). Best fried chicken I have ever made! This is now a staple fried chicken go-to in the family! This was similar to my moms chicken. Very happy!
My mom would always cut up a chicken, season it, and coat it in flour ! She would always fried it Crisco cooking lard ~ it was EXCELLENT crispy out side, and juice tender inside ! YUM I tried it way she done it, and NO WHERE AS GOOD AS HERS ~ HERS WAS EXCELLENT
My husband was raised by his grandparents and they dressed and sold fresh chickens, also sold fryers as 2-1/2 to 3 lbs, never larger. Now they make them 7-8 lbs, tough old birds too.
Old birds sounds terrible especially when they're not free range.
The moment she says “it’s not overpoweringly hot” ...then proceeds to empty the whole bottle lol🤣🤣🙌🏼🙌🏼LOVE YOU TO BITS PAULA DEEN!!!!!🥰😘
lmao I thought she was measuring at first then proceeds to tip the whole bottle in haha.
@@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep My jaw dropped at that lol XD
I remember her saying years ago that she didn't like her food to hurt her. I'm similar, I like enough spicy to be interesting, but not brutal. But dang, a whole bottle?! It must be pretty mild.
@@AuLily1 I wouldn't want to fry a bunch of chicken then not be able to eat it if it were too spicy. Has anyone tasted her hot sauce?
It's just a seasoning y'all!! 😉😉
Always wanted to know how to fry chicken....and this looks great!!! Thanks again for another “how-to” tutorial!!! Really enjoy this format.
I have made this twice and it is by far one of the best I’ve ever tried! I cannot keep enough of Paula Deen’s hot sauce, seasoning mix and now biscuit mix! Tomorrow, I’m cooking it again in my new T-Fal deep fat fryer with automatic oil cleaner built right in. There are several You Tube videos on this product, so I hope Paula Deen’s Southern Fried Chicken will be better than ever!

Hello I see happiness all around you, can I please share from it ❤?
Paula has 3 dogs and it’s so fun how animals can be such a hoot to watch in the house ...I’ve got 3 cats a very intelligent momma gray cat that use to be a feral I took in and her kids two beautiful black cats ...a tomcat and his sister a sweet female cat... it’s amazeing how their personalities are so different and how sweet and funny they can be interacting with each other .
I have a little Shitzu named Brownie. She always finds a way to sneak into every single cooking video I make😃. Hi I’m Darlene from Souper at 60. I’d love to have you join me in my kitchen sometime. Lord bless 🇺🇸❤️
Love you Paula!! ❤ Thank you for all the cooking lessons!!

Dirk has "issues". He hates himself & attacks others. Ignore him.
@@jessepacheco4857 so why are you here on her channel then? Get a life.
Personally, I thought Food Network was too harsh on her.
And for the record: I'm mixed!
@Andrea Robinson taking your good advice!
Thanks for sharing your recipe and bringing back memories.
Thank you for teaching us so much!!! YOU have made the 2020 Quarantine doable, because we could jump on here and learn from you AND feel loved❤️

Wow, contaminating that entire kitchen.....lol. Mixes the chicken, grabs seasoning, touches the faucet. Cleanliness is Godliness.
Yikes. Yep, better not to wear the gloves and just prepare seasonings and everything else first.
Really? She has soap and water
I always sanitize everything after cooking with chicken even run the dishwasher with bleach.
Honestly I’m not dead and I’m well into my 70s. My mama cooked just like that and so do I. If you think the restaurants are keeping it safe and sanitary you got another thing coming.

I’d love to see how some of your recipes can be cooked in your air fryer.
I miss her old show with her laughing more and actually trying the food. Please Paula try the food. This is my first time watching and I was disappointed by that. Every good cook tries their food.
