Best demoing of the UAD ANTI Pedal so far and I have watched them all. Fast and well focused with some nice 5150 knowledge. This made me order the pedal.
@@SonicDriveStudio I can more explain wy i like the white guitar. it is because the sound of the uad is very bright but other guitars do a very low chug resonance. fit not so good. the white guitar do a higher and brighter chug resonance so fit better to the 5150 sound
the pedal is red white and black like that frankenstrat/striped series... that's the only thing that makes me think evh when I look at it, but is sounds incredible. and I want one.🤘🤘
I'm hearing the same thing. It's my favourite amp in the real world and usually my favourite in modellers/plugins, but something is off in all these demos. Sounds thin and fizzy to me.
19:10 can you load in IRs on this one? I was under the impression that you usually get 3 dynamic cabinet models with the pedal and a few additional ones if you download the app, but you can't import IRs onto the UA amp pedals. Might be wrong though Would love to hear this thing against the PV Panama and the Vitriol in the Helix!
No, you can't load your own IRs. Gotta use the exact same mesa OS IR everyone else with the pedal will use. Together with the lack of midi probably the biggest showstopper for me.
My guess is that the pedal is called ANTI because Van Halen was a rebel in some ways. His approach to the amp sounds at that time was completely ANTI from what the previous amps were aiming for. This is my best guess why it’s named ANTI, and I like the name.
Jon, I've been watching your channel - and commenting on it - since the beginning, but I've never noticed your "Gaucho" tattoo on your right arm. Why is that? Have you been to Southern Brazil/Uruguay/Argentina? All the best!
honestly it's nice that they built overdrives into this...... but who buys one of these that does not already have their own overdrive, be it a blues driver, OD1, ODR-1 or an 808 style? I'd rather they built some kind of modulator (chorus/flange) in there or the (plate!) reverb that VH used on the early records.
Sorry guys! It's called "Anti" because the 90's were known as the "anti-guitar soloist" era. After coming out of the 80's, alot of musicians felt they couldn't compete with the velocity so they slowed things down and did less technical work but went heavier on big sustainable chords and alt tunings.
That's a terrible name for a 5150 though, because 5150s weren't popular for grunge. They were used by EVH (shredder) and tons of modern metal bands (more shred and heavy guitar-centric music).
UA is incorporating software into pedals, and people are buying them, but they're too digital. If you want the best solution for recording directly to your computer, use tube pedals like the Tubestation XTC (Brazil) or The Blizzard (Greece - Kourbis) with a good cabinet emulation like GGD. Otherwise, you can use Neural's free options and get the same digital high-gain tone.
@@SonicDriveStudio fizzy, harsh, thin and does not sound like my 5150 at all. Every demo I've seen they all sound like this. I have 4 different 5150s at the moment. A block letter EVH I bought in 1995, an lbx 15 watt, a 50watt 1x12 combo and the 40 watt Iconic combo. This pedal doesn't sound like any of them.
@@crsantin I feel the same. I have the 60w original combo as well as some neural offerings and this pedal sounds nothing like them. I don't know why because to my ears the lion really does sound like a plexi but this does not sound like a 5150 to me. I don't mean to be rude but it sounds like a cheap distortion pedal in these demos.
4.5 minutes into the review and all I've seen or heard is a bunch of nonsense and truly bad attempts of comedy since non of you funkers are funny .. let's see if at the end of this there is something similar to content and to see if this pedal is worth its price and proves to be something worth purchasing... let's see if the funckeries stops and some serious issues are addressed...

Been waiting for this vid. Spent some time dialing mine in last night. Love it! 🤘🎸🔥
Thanks for inviting me bud! Dig the pedal 👌🏾

I love how you are friends and visiting each other :)
It's a blast!
So much fun!!! Great video!! Keep it loose. Henning has a point! ;)
Thanks buddy!
About the design of the pedal... it's the EVH colors, in case you didn't notice 😅
the white ibanez i think sound even more better with the UAD on chugs and mutes. tight and full and not dark
Ibanez make some killer guitars!
@@SonicDriveStudio maybe you have such pickup and simular guitar in one of your guitars and can test too when you have this uad at home ?

Kyle Bull did a great demo of this pedal, it's nice
That was great! It's a really good video! 🔥🤘🔥
This pedal sounds kind of trebly and unusually fizzy for a 5150 no matter what cab is selected, in all the (sponsored) demos I've watched so far

First video ive seen this pedal actually sounded bad ass....
Holy shit, that AZ Prestige sounds metal as balls!!!
it sounds incredible
How did you find the performance of the UAFX Connect phone app ?

Henning is shot out of a cannon 😂🥴
I want to know where he got the tshirt that is a print of an open button down shirt
It’s called ANTI 1992 (pronounced EE at the end) because it sounds like Peavey (EE) 5150
The letters in A • N • T • I
Also amount to 5 • 1 • 5 • 0
What do you mean by the letters "amount to"?
Nah.
It is red white and black just like the guitar you're holding.
The guitar pedal coulour are the same as the Frankenstine guitar you are holding.
Why does anyone care about what Glenn thinks? He’s somehow duped all of TH-cam.
No, you can't load your own IRs. Gotta use the exact same mesa OS IR everyone else with the pedal will use. Together with the lack of midi probably the biggest showstopper for me.
The showstopper for me was Universal Audio. Their pedals, for what they do, are too fucking expensivez
What is this 5150/6505 you guys keep talking about? Some extreme rare and expensive boutique amp that nobody uses? 👀
I've been wondering the same thing.
😂😂😂😂
Glenn just nailed it! Thank you, Jon, for the review! Is it the first high-gain pedal from UA?
@@igorstavtsev5962 yes
Needs sheffield irs with the ability to replace them with better irs to be more authentic.
Haha!
Sick.

Every UAFX pedal I've tried has been a winner, this is no exception. And I will get one too :)
XXX for life!
What a video… 😂❤
I see 42 Gear Street, I upvote
how do you compared against line 6 helix , axe fx, quad cortex 5150 emulatiom?
That’s a cool pedal! =VH=
May I suggest you NOT let Henning tell you how to dial in ANY amp?? Youve heard his demos right???
LMAO 😂
😂
Ownhammer EVM12L IR demo please

8:05 shit taken, thanks Henning.
You say at the end that you can load your own IRs, but i dont think that's true
If my 5150 actually sounded like this I would set it on fire and get something else.

Maybe sounds more similar to this when you mic it. 😊
Is it just me or is the input clipping?
I preferer miles away the lion with any boost !
anti tubes… uh oh
…the anti amp?
梦幻联动~
I'm absolutely no metal guy. But man, this thing sounds ridiculously good.
Big fan of the Lion'68.

I think they call it anti because it's not really a pedal it's more more like an amp it just looks like a pedal?
AINT.. is not ANTI backwards..
Henning is a 5150
Maybe it sounds good in the room they are sitting in… but to me listening over my headphones… not so much
Engl, Revv, Friedman and so on in the background...no need for another pedal that sounds "like" 🤪...
Itś called anti because, compared to an 5150, it´s small like an ant!
5:55 stop dailing waaaaaay too much gain in, it sounds terrible this way
Anderson Kenneth Lee James Clark Larry
Meh

The fizzle on the top end, is that the pedal sound itself or was it clipping the inputs a little when recording?
Yeah I thought the same
Y’all ever play a 5150? One of the fizziest amps in the best way
That's the sound of a small underpowered modeling pedal breaking it's back while trying to produce high gain tones😄
I thought it was clipping. I don’t get that on my 6505
@@ZachariahConnor I own a 5150 and it doesn’t fizz like this.
It's a digital pedal, why use this if you already have a Helix/Axe-FX/etc . . .
Anti must mean Anti Christ, the 5150 is commonly dialed in at 6 6 6 settings. The pedal is red and Metal. That's what I'm going with 😅
Works for me
I hope not, because they would have just lost a potential buyer.
