- Here we have a go at Kawhia with Izaak and Jayden once again. After the naki trip being riddled with bad weather, we were lucky as to get a proper run of fish literally throwing themselves onto the bank. Good sized snappers, kahawais and sharks caught. Only about half the trip was filmed, but ended up catching our limit and having a right blast along the way. Mean outing as always. Cheers Kilwell for the gear.

far out thats a solid 1st snap haha west is best. it was so sad how that dude lost the 2nd fish and it was right in close too. still a great feeling wen ur at the right place at the right time and you capture everything on camera.

We used to drive out there in our Landrovers in the 1960's, pitch a tent above high water mark then send out a kon tiki and catch bin fulls of snapper and kahawai

Yeah bro fukin mean one, can't wait till we get out there. This video got me tossing up a rig with a strong trout hook 4 inches out the back of the bait as a last chance little stinger hook ay. The hooks are pretty bullet proof for their size (remember those big browns on max pressure in Winter) and I think since they are so small they would nick the snapper right in the lips if the bait pulls out ay got me thinking hard haha

What rigs were yous using if you don't mind me asking?
A simple pully rig with a 4oz grapple with a 6/0 Trokar hook. Sunline shock leader is a must too.
