- My friend Tim came down from Tutukaka and we lined up a surf cast. The wind wasn't right but we decided to go anyway, with a bit of swell, over cast conditions and wind, the likely hood of feeding snapper was looking good.

Do you have a leader tied to the mainline?
Cheers mate. Yep I run a leader off a swivel from my mainline 👍 I use 10kg mono for my mainline paired with a 40lb leader.

amazing waters over there, our government here has allowed the long lines and commercial fishing to decimate our stocks and we have bans on snapper for locals. Now theyre talking fishing licenses for the average joe weekender fisherman.
That sucks to hear man. I don’t believe in licenses ect based on the governments own fault with commercial fishing. Area bans and marine reserves are much better practice and knuckling down on those commercial fisherman. We get long liners and trawlers ect in close around nz off local beaches and what not but I don’t think they make too much difference personally cause there’s heaps of big snapper everywhere over here. Certainly more spots are more hit than others too but yeah. Also sucks for kids too, such a deterrent for them to want to get into fishing in the first place having to get a license first ect and learn a whole lot of bogus rules. 🤦♂️ could go on 😂 cheers for the comment mate I appreciate it !!
