    True! @ 3:20. There are stores like RDI that will rent you quality backpacking gear. Always try the gear before you invest good money into it.

    Even when you own a house, and don't live in an urban area, you have this issue. You just have more area to put more stuff. My lifestyle has changed in the last two years and I'm slowly but surely getting of stuff I haven't used in years. There are plenty of organizations like Greendrop that will pick your things up and distribute among several groups (your choice) like the Order of the Purple Heart which I designate. Our veterans deserve more than our throwaways, but it's start if they need something. God Bless America. This also helps my kids in the future since that will less they will have to deal with. Just a fact of life, didn't purposely want to bum your viewership out. Being a math geek. I did like your use of it when explaining the use of square footage. It did put things in prospective. Video is great as always.

      Thanks! I read this tip of calculating space a long time ago when it comes to figuring out if something is worth keeping. So I can't take the credit. But I can't remember where I read it either. 😅

    I heard that some people would go great lengths to sleep in their office and rent storage space instead....

    Great tips Thea! We also moved into a tiny house a couple of years ago, to leave the city and live in the countryside, so we totally agree with your advise!

      I always wanted to live in a tiny house. I think it's so fascinating. One day I want to be on a self-sufficient land. 🌱😊

      @@UrbanCaffeine We wish you get to do it dear Thea, it's the really easy to adapt. Especially if you have a deck/veranda on the outside and a garden!

      Thank you! I know plenty of people who live in studios and they make it look like it's fun living in a small space with how creative they are with furniture arrangement and storage. Good luck to you!🍀🚪🙏

    I get why some people/organization freaks would like to get everything in The Container Store.
    Personally I only got some tall shelves from Costco because they have a very good warranty and return policy!

    … and this is why you never rule out the outer boroughs. It’s cheaper, more spacious, and you could get better amenities without too many compromises.

    A better alternative to a slow cooker which I only used once a month would be an instant pot, which I use for the same recipe but many others as well, especially brown rice which takes ages to cook. I use my instant pot much more than a slow cooker.
    Folding bicycles are also a good option. Cycle to work when the weather is good and compact enough for a train in bad weather.

    • @UrbanCaffeine
      @UrbanCaffeine  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A relative was trying to convince me on the instant pot. I just don't have space to store it. 😂

      @@UrbanCaffeine Yes it is taller than stock pots, but I use mine several times a week, which I wouldn’t with a slow cooker or stock pot. I make soup every week or so, plus batch cook which is a money saving tip of its own. So I put mine on top of my refrigerator.

    I like using curtains instead of doors, that can save space.

    Welcome back, Thea! Hope that you had fun in your trip.
    Sometimes we may ask ourselves, even prisoners have their own bathroom!
    Nega-Thea is always welcome to borrow an Instant Pot from me. I have one but there's not enough space in the kitchen to use it....
    Joe from the Netflix show "You" rents a storage space to do something else... 😉😏

    Or better yet, instead of renting in Manhattan how about I rent in Brooklyn where I get more bang for my Buck but still be in the city and have access to public transportation.

    • @UrbanCaffeine
      @UrbanCaffeine  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, Brooklyn and Queens are generally more affordable than Manhattan. The key is living near a subway line.
