UCI snow biking is impossible to get good at unless you are so wealthy to afford lift tickets and yet another specially built bike that needs to cost more then a moto bike. WHO is this sport for?? Rich people in Europe that are already pro riders?
I think the snow downhill has potential, what it needs is some obsticals, I few snowmen to avoid, some snowball chuckers on the sidelines and maybe a couple of loose polar bears. Finally some old school Rob Warner commentary. I might tune into that. 😅
I get how snow biking seems mad to most. Access can be a bastard. Conditions can vary But, if you never held a drift on a groomed ski run you won’t get it. You can just do insane stuff at speed when the snow is right that you’d never do on dirt. Definitely some of my best times on a bike. Get some spikes and warm gear and give it a shot.
As a Canadian from Quebec who may ride down closed ski stations at night, don't do this btw, they just need narrower tires and more experience it's great fun... Oh wear thick clothing sliding on hard packed snow is like asphalt but colder 🫠🤘

I'm certain you will find more converts in snowy regions of the global mountain bike network if you tried to slalom your bike down a gentle snow-covered slope... I think Blake would be the 1st of these GMBN presenters to master the technique and champion the slalom style to your audience.

So far everyone’s point has been it makes no sense etc etc but it’s like saying well why do both snowboards and skis exist, why are there multiple mtb disciplines etc. everything starts out as nothing before it becomes something. Riding in the snow can be hilarious but it's just a bit of 💩's and giggles we your mates.....shouldn't be taken seriously because it's sketchy as it gets unless you're going to spike your tyres and probably get a Darwin award for taking yourself out the gene pool but if it gets me better snow tyres might be worth a watch

What I don't understand is why snow bike world championships include this dual slalom thing that nobody does but doesn't include fat bike crit racing which is actually difficult and where missing a few pedal strokes can lose the race. Has GMBN ever done one of these races? If not, you should. VC Adventures has a race vid and it looks like quite the challenge.

Any bicycle event that gets people out watching,racing and supporting is a good idea. Downhill snow MTB, sure why not. But to call it a world cup event is ridiculous. It's just an off season way to get out and compete, nothing more.
Absolutely love propain bikes but I hope the newer ones are a tad stronger! My tyee 5 cracked and unfortunately i don’t have warranty according to propain so absolutely gutted!

I think snow racing has the potential to be a great spectator sport. Weird how there was next to no socials on it from the uci, only the competitors themselves. Apparently the scrutineering was terrible too, so lots of guys running way longer spikes on their tyres than were allowed, making the whole thing a farce and totally unfair for the guys following the rules
Ed Pratt is currently releasing his trip videos of doing a cross-country unicycle trip on a unicycle setup for trails. two videos ago he got overconfident and went down hard on his face 😬
i seen a little bit of the snow race and it was boring watching bikes try to do ski things it was a ski course i think it would have been more interesting if they built a snow track with berms and double etc other than that i dont see the point
They should do it more in the snow, but require fat bikes only that might help revitalize the fat bite market. I love my fat bike It’s a tank and I ride it year-round. I do single track gravel road on it, and I usually do pretty well in the races.
I ride a Surly Big Fat Dummy (26 × 4.8) year-round, basically as a commuter bike because I use it to carry my work equipment sometimes. I ordered it with the 29 × 3, but got the 26 wheels for the snow, but honestly the only time I use the 29s is as back-up wheels if I'm getting the hubs replaced or something

I like the idea of some DH races that might include snow, but in the same format as other races. The same way WRC races in various conditions.

I support The Snow Race. I do not race but I ride in the snow like I am racing. It is great fun and requires a deferent set of skills.
