      I don't understand the concept of iceberg.. Does ice contains salt or not? I m little bit confused

    • @vijaymeenaahawk889
      @vijaymeenaahawk889 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Not, ice do not have salt .When we put water in a bottle and put it in the refrigerator, then its salt content comes in its lower surface that came out of it.Similarly, when ocean water cools, its salt content gets deposited in its bottom.Which does not contain salt content in iceberg

    • @salimmazid9948
      @salimmazid9948 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Icebergs donot contain salt. That's why if you read the ncerts, you find the distribution of water as: 97.3% ocean salt water, 2.7% freshwater. Out of the 2.7% freshwater, 2% is contained in icecaps and glaciers. Also you must have heard that due to global warming, ocean currents are getting disrupted. One of the reasons is that the freshwater in glaciers and icecaps are melting and decreasing the salinity of the surrounding water

    • @hemlatakumari908
      @hemlatakumari908 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes salinity increases with depth...and at depth is very much fixed as there is no way for lost or addition of salt.

    At 23:00 to 23:08 in North Atlantic ocean current i do not understand how canary current is a cold current, in case of calofornia current westerlies move it temperate to equatorial region so it become cold as you said. So does same applies here too? Please clear this doubt that how camary current is a cold current, and why it is not warm being offshoot of North atlantic drift(if it is, as it looks like in figure). Thank you.
