When I was twelve I remember my dad forgot their wedding anniversary. My mom cooked, was dressed and even gave him a present. It was the most awkward dinner ever, my mom gave dad the silent treatment just answering my dad a smile, never said a word. The next morning my dad pretended to go to work while my mom left for her work as well, still giving him the silent treatment. 5mins later he came back and cleaned the house top to bottom did all the chores from laundry to cleaning the garden and hired a one night chef (since he sucks at cooking). They manage to converse but I could still feel my mother disappointed, the next day my dad booked a 1 week day off for a trip to Hawaii with my mother. I had the house all to myself for a week, and also that's probably how I got my 3rd younger sibling. Lol
Met my partner on my birthday. Proposed to him 5 years later on my birthday. Still forgot the anniversery. We are not getting marryed on that day. I would be better not rememvering two things -.-

Last year his mom brought over fresh baked cookies and told us she felt bad she couldn’t drop them off earlier. It made no sense to us. Helene didn’t affect us but our favorite rescue, many who foster have home damage from the hurricane. It’s a nightmare dealing with insurance, can’t get supplies, finding people to work. We got hit hurricane Ian 2 years ago, we are just finishing up the inside flooring master bedroom. Took 7 months to get a roof replaced and we were one of the first in our neighborhood. 2 homes still have tarps! We planned on taking 2 more dogs when we finished the floors. Happy we can adopt and hopefully everyone can focus on the repairs. Oh hurricane Ian lasted 11 hours 140 mile winds then higher gusts. We heard things taking out the roof. Turned out neighbors vinyl fence 8 houses away! Fun night bailing water in the dark and trying to find all the leaks. We were able to prevent so much damage but exhausting.
I do understand that a lot of girls and guys have trouble remembering dates and such (i have also) but there's really no excuse. Everyone have smartphones now, you can set a reminder for birthdays or especially anniversary. This s*it really hurts in womans perspective. I feel like the way to solve this is to tell them 'happy anniversary' really early in the day without any fanfare or anything. Then they have time through the day to get something ready and you tell them again in the evening and exchange presents/party.

I’ve been in a few longterm relationships (3+ years) and all but 1 of the men I was with never remembered or cared, even though they know I care. I got one boyfriend a $200 gift card to a whiskey bar for our 2nd anniversary and he got me nothing, and then he complained about everything from the staff to the reservation to the whiskey when we finally went there nearly a year later. So disappointing and hurtful. But I was with 1 man who never forgot my birthday, our anniversary or even Valentine’s Day, which I had never celebrated with anyone before and he always went all out. For Valentine’s Day 2019, he surprised me with a trip to Hawaii (his home state, which I’d never been to); he wasn’t rich by any means, which made that gift even more incredible, but he cared/was thoughtful and that’s what matters most.

My husband of almost 30, honestly would for get his head if it wasn’t attached! I don’t get upset, ladies follow my example! When he forgets I give him 3 options, a spa day, adopt another dog, or jewelry. I get something I want and he is absolved of guilt? We didn’t start out with these big gifts. It was he’d make dinner, go to the beach, clean my car etc. Just today he was going to a game with friends. Forgot the food he was to take, left the garage door open, and the door into house he didn’t fully close. I’m betting I’ll get flowers tomorrow. Lol

@@2CanadianEh I see you’re Canadian as well. At the moment one dog, two coming in October. All rescues, we are in Florida. Helene didn’t affect us but our favorite rescue, many who foster have home damage from the hurricane. It’s a nightmare dealing with insurance, can’t get supplies, finding people to work. We got hit hurricane Ian 2 years ago, we are just finishing up the inside flooring master bedroom. Took 7 months to get a roof replaced and we were one of the first in our neighborhood. 2 homes still have tarps! We planned on taking 2 more dogs when we finished the floors. Happy we can adopt and hopefully everyone can focus on the repairs. Oh hurricane Ian lasted 11 hours 140 mile winds then higher gusts. We heard things taking out the roof. Turned out neighbors vinyl fence 8 houses away! Fun night bailing water in the dark and trying to find all the leaks. We were able to prevent so much damage but exhausting.
I do understand that a lot of girls and guys have trouble remembering dates and such (i have also) but there's really no excuse. Everyone have smartphones now, you can set a reminder for birthdays or especially anniversary. This s*it really hurts in womans perspective. Like im planning the date, making dinner, buying a present just to guy completely brushing it off like im not important enough to remember how much we have been together. I had partners like this and it hurt a lot. My now husband however also doesnt remember much dates, someones birthdays etc but he NEVER forgets our wedding anniversary or my birthday. He remembers the month but sets a reminder for the actual day. THERES NO EXCUSE
A lot of guys, myself included, just aren’t super date focused. I forget birthdays, anniversary’s, all sorts of things. Thank GODS reminders exist. But I just don’t celebrate a lot of days. Even my own birthday is just kind of a “meh” day for me.

Exactly. My husband and I just celebrated 30 years last month. He's never forgotten a single anniversary and he didn't have a phone to remind him. There's no excuse for anyone these days. If the person was truly important to you, you would remember your anniversary and their birthday.

I don't care about mine or other peoples birthdays/anniversaries, I think it is selfish. My spouse does, thinking it is important. We know that we are different and don't call each other stupid because of it. If you want a specific outcome: be the positive instigator, not the brat that demands and demands and demands. It is the same BS as asking the partner "am I the most pretty in the world?" and being mad at the answer not being the compliment they where fishing for. Exhausting

Today is actually my wedding anniversary. My husband and I don’t make a huge deal, never get each other anything, but he always remembers. We have an inside joke with 22, our “been together” anniversary is also a 22nd, so we never forget ❤️ he’s the first to say Happy Anniversary” always.

This is a big reason why I dont put a big emphasis on birthdays or anniversaries. My adhd mind is all over the place and I forget the DAY of the week every other day. Screw trying to remember ONE specific day a year! Besides, I would MUCH rather have that slow steady burn, like a campfire, than have a huge flash bang boom ONCE a year. I feel like the way to solve this is to tell them 'happy anniversary' really early in the day without any fanfare or anything. Then they have time through the day to get something ready and you tell them again in the evening and exchange presents/party.
an easier way to solve this is putting important dates in your calendar. If he wanted to remember he would.

Been married 12 years. I have a hard time remembering when it’s our anniversary. My husband remembers the date, but sometimes forgets it’s the actual day. I honestly can’t remember the last time we celebrated our anniversary. 😂🤷♀️ But that works for us. I like it better when he spoils me with flowers or a gas station chocolate randomly than a day requiring something special. 🤪

I’ve been in a few longterm relationships (3+ years) and all but 1 of the men I was with never remembered or cared, even though they know I care.
I got one boyfriend a $200 gift card to a whiskey bar for our 2nd anniversary and he got me nothing, and then he complained about everything from the staff to the reservation to the whiskey when we finally went there nearly a year later. So disappointing and hurtful.
But I was with 1 man who never forgot my birthday, our anniversary or even Valentine’s Day, which I had never celebrated with anyone before and he always went all out. For Valentine’s Day 2019, he surprised me with a trip to Hawaii (his home state, which I’d never been to); he wasn’t rich by any means, which made that gift even more incredible, but he cared/was thoughtful and that’s what matters most.
