- The front line faces a new stage of confrontation. Russians are massively using guided bomb units (GBUs)-old Soviet aerial bombs equipped with extendable wings and guidance systems. With such munitions, they destroy any fortifications and assist ground troops advance. Meanwhile, their Western analogue, JDAM, hasn’t been really effective. Still, there are several ways to solve this and counteract Russia's new strategy that already significantly impacts the front-but to do so, a move in response is to be made.

So Russia is running out of ammunition but they somehow have 300,000 artillery shells, 3200 guided bombs and 300 cruise missiles to rain on Ukraine each month. Seems like Hogwarts level wizardry to me. Or even better. Bbc level wizardry.

Who said they are running out of ammunition? It was reported last year that Russia switched to a war footing re producing armaments, and recently that they are producing artillery shells 3 times faster than the West.

No they said that they had an offensive planned that was meant to drive the russians behind the ukrainian border, but that big offensive failed and ukraine only gained very little. I think they lost almost all the land they gained by now too. The war isnt going great for ukraine, but neither is it for russia. They're both stuck in a ww1-esque standoff and knowing history this wont end until one side surrenders, not until one side is beaten

When they enter the war we'll all see how effective or ineffective they are.

-having a runway deliberately for it
-having enough men to operate it once it comes back from its runs

-having enough money to be able to keep it as useful than just a sitting statue

-ukraine is being lazy on its budgeting for defence construction thanks to kharkivs defenders exposing them
-they are in a major man power shortage
-building a runway russia can just hit it with a iksander, torn, S-300/S-400 yada yada
-same thing as the runway the hangers being built would be expensive and take a while to make specifically for the F-16 since they'll be valuable as shit

Russia has had such bombs for long time. But they have developed low cost kits to convert dumb bombs into smarter weapons.

The west has to help Ukraine get control of the air space.
you cannot have full control of air space in a conflict like this,,it's not afghanistan or iraq,there are numerous air defence systems which makes such a thing impossible

Taking these down requires taking out the delivery aircraft, which Ukraine has focused on lately. Other than that, it requires expensive AA missiles. It's a tough problem.

A "double tap" is a shooting technique where two shots are fired in rapid succession at the same target. What Russia is doing, attacking a target and waiting for people to show up to strike it again is not a double tap. most of the time they right out attack fire fighters and medics - this is a war crime.
By Ukraine and the UN's own causulty estimations.. Russia has done more to prevent civilian casualties than any other player in any other conventional war in over 100 years. Wether by ISR.. informants on the ground..satellite imagery.. or just negotiating the opening of civilian corridors(which they also did hundreds of times in Syria).. the world can learn from Russia's methods. If the US were invading ukraine civilian causulties would be 200,000 dead and a million wounded on the low end. That being said Russia and ukraine have both been committing war crimes since the US coup in 2014.

Manpads can’t reach very high or far, ground launched missiles that can hit these aircraft at altitude are massive!

Im from Canada an am for the Ukrainians, but the russians seem to have the man power,but not the expertise as the Ukrainians do, but didnt we just give them 60 billion dollar aid package!
That is only just enough (along with the aid received from other allies) to defend for about six months. In war-fighting terms, it's peanuts, and most of it didn't go to Ukraine anyway - they just got the old equipment that was replaced with that money. Fighting wars is very expensive - Iraq cost the US well over $3 trillion and Afghanistan over $2tr. That is just what the US spent, so by the time you add the contribution from other members of the alliance, you can probably add another trillion or so to each of those. Of course, they were entirely fought with troops that were already part of standing armies, so there was no additional recruitment or training cost, and the home economy didn't lose any of its workforce or taxpayers. If conscription is needed, the costs go right up, as all the additional troops also need to be equipped and fleets of tanks, trucks, APCs, AFVs, aircraft, and all the rest of it need to be expanded. Iraq and Afghanistan only used equipment that was already in the inventory.
We need to do FAR more than send Ukraine the scraps from our tables, as we have so far been expecting them to perform miracles with. They are fighting a much more powerful adversary that had been saving up a war chest for well over a decade, and doing it on behalf of the whole civilised world.
