Yes, but when water levels are low they can be exposed. Summer is a great time to scout and mark den entrances. Then come back in winter and you know where they are.

Personally I would suggest something with a detachable magazine, such as an AK or AR variety. The SKS is a good rifle, but it is limited in capacity.
