    Holy crap this is so good! Only minor suggestion would have been to maybe add a little bit of red or orange dry brushed on the underside of the dragon just to catch the 'reflected' light from the fire.

      Or, open a hole in the cotton behind the flame column and let the light reflect onto the sculpt.

      Also could be good to add a bit of pink to the skin of the wings to give the illusion of the light of the flame passing through them. It always makes light look brighter when you can see it interact like that

    Dude I love watching your videos. You create the coolest stuff. I really want to start on my own project but at times seems overwhelming. Any advice on what someone would need to start making these awesome dioramas and booknooks?

    • @NorthoftheBorder
      @NorthoftheBorder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +76

      Yes!
      First, pick something that is busy enough that you can obscure some of the detail for the tricky stuff, but still not too overwhelming in terms of adding every little detail. Diagon Alley (or something like that) is a great choice because it's busy but there aren't any obvious points of interest, so you don't need to focus all your attention and patience on perfecting one thing.
      Second, and most importantly by far, *finish your project*. This goes for literally every thing I've worked on. I can't tell you how many times I look at it halfway through and think 'oh my god, this is awful', only to have something really great at the end. If you give up on something you've gotten halfway through, it'll HAUNT YOUR DREAMS. More often than not, I find 'done' is better than 'perfect'.

    • @KaptenSpork
      @KaptenSpork 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes to the "finish your project" like Adam said! It's so easy to get discouraged when creating something and go 'this is terrible' halfway through, or even at the start of a project. It's the same with any type of artform in my opinion, like drawing for example. I can get so annoyed with how my sketch looks but then I start changing small things, use references if I find something tricky etc.. Best way is to just start and then keep going!

    So I'm a pretty resent fan of yours and I love checking out older stuff for the artists I start watching. This was a great vid! Though I was sad to see so many "Wormy Dealies" not dubbed as such. You should choose one of your older projects to remake to see how far you've grown.... though I don't see how you could improve on this! (and do you really want to dive back into the spike world?)

    His artwork is simply legendary.
    The stories tell that the creator of such work was never seen again among men after finishing it, as he transcended mortality and ascended, like Tiber Septim, to the pantheon the Nine Divines, becoming the tenth deity. xD Incredible work, I wish I had to buy heh. ^^)

    Hi, only just discovered your channel, love the builds, have obviously subscribed. You have inspired me to go out and buy some Sculpey to have a go myself...only on some small easy thing of course! But would love to one day aspire to creating this kind of masterpiece. Keep up the fantastic work
