    The problems:
    1. The Budapest is not a gambit in the majority of lines
    2. The Budapest is refuted, if the opponent knows some theory a draw is the most desirable outcome for black.
    3. The Budapest is not commonly played at master level, therefore there are not many games for reference.
    solution:
    Play 3. ... Ne4, not 3. ... Ng4
    1. It is an actual gambit, therefore it is not a scam
    2. It is so rarely played that no one will know the theory
    3. There are some master games, they all follow the same pattern but are rarely analyzed by people who don't play it because the games are just too old
    4. Also there are cool traps, everyone knows the smothered mate in the standard budapest
    Example for a cool line, this just leads to a sharp position, engine says white is very slightly better:
    1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e5 3. dxe5 Ne4 4. Nf3 b6 5. Qd5 Bb7 6. Qxb7 Nc6 7. Nd4 Bb4+ 8.
    Nc3 O-O 9. Bd2 Nxf2 10. Kxf2 Qh4+
    White will have to play extremely precise to not lose here.
    Anyways, barely acceptable video, like! 👍

      It's true that you won't see Magnus Carlsen playing the Budapest Gambit against super GMs because you're right, Black has better options than 2...e5 against 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4. But I know quite a few 2000 - 2200 rated players who get a lot of easy wins against players rated below 2000. That said I don't plan on using it in any serious games myself. However calling this a "barely acceptable video" seems way too harsh. I actually like this video and might use this gambit in a blitz or bullet game some time.

    • @alekhinedefense8416
      @alekhinedefense8416 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel like you missed the point of my comment. The budapest is a disgrace to all gambits, it is giving the ilusion of playing some risky opening when infact the majority of times, 4.Nf3 or 4.Bf4 will be played and this will result in the same positions over and over again.
      The mainlines are also not very dynamic, if white wants to, they can shut down most counterplay rather easily, as a former Budapest player I can tell you, that playing it a few times in Blitz can be fun, but if you want a dynamic opening you are at the wrong place.
      My suggestion of 3. ... Ne4 is not meant to be better but rather it is supposed to be more dynamic while also fulfilling the requirement of giving away material that real gambits have.
      Statistically speaking, both openings are equally bad with a win rate of about 50% for white.
      There are a plethora of traps in the Fajarowicz, while the "normal" Budapest has the rather famous smothered mate trap. It is understandable to me why Miss Santeramo likes to play it but the major downside is, simply put, you have to be stronger than your opponent with basically no chance for a win against equally strong opponents or even stronger opponents while the Fajarowicz is not only complicated but also very dynamic, white has to be relatively precise and watch out for tactical blows by black while the "normal" Budapest aims more towards a brute force way to break through whites defense.
      My criticism towards the video is purely towards its content, the video itself is well-edited and because of respect towards the editor, I think the video is acceptable. Though my deep hatred of the Budapest prevails.

      @Steveross2851 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alekhinedefense8416I have no argument with you when you point out that objectively the Budapest is not good or that White has safe ways to decline it. When I relate that a number of 2000 - 2200 rated players I know win many easy victories against players rated below 2000 with the Budapest I am simply pointing out a pertinent fact.

    • @alekhinedefense8416
      @alekhinedefense8416 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Steveross2851 The point being what? People with higher ratings tend to beat people lower rated because they are stronger, the opening does not really matter. My problem is that this video gives a false image of the Budapest as a dynamic opening when, the majority of times, it isn't. It can become dynamic if black is a dynamic player but that goes for any opening. I don't understand why people want to play a fake gambit that leads to an equal position most of the time. There is nothing exciting about that and that, again, is completely fine with me. But this video sadly addresses the unbalanced lines unproportionally much compared to how often they arise. And even then I find that white has a seemingly more pleasant position just because they need to know one of many plans for white and they will be fine.
