One of the greatest men I ever met and got to know. First saw him perform live in our local workingmens club . He was phenominal and such a lovely lad. Saw him and met him numerous times after that . And he used me as an easel using me to sign autographs on for fans . I remenber me being pressed against the wall and Joe' s head popping over my right shoulder and his voice asking ' are ya alright Kidda ' . Thank you for being you ,Joe. Such a warm and wonderful man . I saw him in my hometown just 2 weeks before this world lost him . His loss broke my heart . But at least I have christmas cards , birthday cards , his music and memories of the odd phone call

I don’t think he ever lost that cheeky chappie way he was when he was a young boy. He has done Hull proud over the years what a sad loss to us he is. He was a simply superb entertainer the regulars of Rayners were correct.

I’m just chucking out an old newspaper from months ago (August 2019) that reported Joe’s untimely passing and it brought back memories of growing up in the 1980’s and Joe’s regular appearances on Saturday and Sunday night variety shows. He was one of the last Sinatra , Dean Martin , Bing Crosby style Male singers of that style and tradition which doesn’t really exist in the same way anymore. It feels like a whole genre and industry has passed like all things must. Very very sad.
Rest in peace sir now singing with the angels a wonderful singer saw you many times in concert with my mother who has also passed away too i had my mothers eyes played at her funeral also a photo of you put in her casket as she adored you joe you made her life when after a concert you came out the stage door in Edinburgh usher hall to sign autographs then stood talking to your fans she never forgot it!!!
