First female KPOP group to tour America. Then Yang publicly called the ugly. This was the basis of calling Blackpink the pretty 2NE1. In 2016 Mr. Yang disbanded 2NE1 just before Blackpink debuted. I like Blackpink but their success was prepared by 2NE1. Yes, Blackpink has had great success which is great credit to YG Entertainment. However, I recommend checking out 2NE1 and Gerls Genration to understand the complexity of 2nd Gen.

because of the kpop fans from other fandoms. At that time most YG artist are not visually acceptable. Thats why at that time YG artists though are very talented but still can't beat SM and JYP popularity. People used to call them(YG artists) ugly. So YHS used that ugly word as a reference from kpop fans as a jokes and motivation . You should watch the full documentary/video (i forgot the vid name ) to understand the contacts why he's saying that.
