I think Blackpink: Journey and Friendship is another well done fan made docu on the girls.
I've been into kpop since 2015 but i never really paid attention to their music but recently i started watching their videos & i became a jennie bias although i love all four of them they're all beautiful & talented but there's something with jennie which intrigues me
This is a great introduction to this group. They just showed up at the right time with all of the right elements. EXCELLENT documentary!!!
I'm pretty sure where these girls are now, they don't even care about the haters. They had them when they debuted and they will always have them like all celebrities of the world. They live in a world now that haters won't even be a thought to them. They all have family,friends,fans and most of all each other who have enough love and respect to carry them on happily.

- after DU dudu they became very famous globally.
- before that they use to perform in college festivals, private corporate events.
- they have done multiple local brand endorsement just like other kpop groups.
- it's just they became too famous in 2018-2019 era.
- they did world tour 3 years after debut to become most successful kpop GG world tour.
- from 2019 they got appointed as brand ambassadors of high luxury brands - channel, YSL, dior, channel.
- they showed international brands how much k-pop idol can bring publicity to brands.
- it has become common now for all idols for luxury endorsements.
In short, they were not exclusive from debut, they have done everything before going big in 2018.

Everyone loves to minimize the hate that Lisa gets, from koreans, other fandoms, solo stans, and even “blinks”
I'm Canadian, and this "comeback" thing(every 3-4 months ish) is really NOT a thing anywhere else except Korea. A "comeback" is something an artist does when they've been away for A LONG TIME. A few months isn't a long time. And often the many "come backs" are a drain on the Idols and don't benefit them.
In the west you can go years without a Group/Singer releasing new music.
Jennie: speaks Korean, Japanese and English fluently and learning French(and possibly Mandarin)
Rosé: speaks Korean, Japanese and English fluently, some Mandarin and learnt/still learning Spanish.
Jisoo: speaks Korean and Japanese fluently, pretty good Mandarin and learning English.
Lisa: speaks English, Thai, Korean and Japanese fluently, pretty decent Mandarin and proved that she know very basic Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay and Tagalog

In the Netflix documentary Teddy explained that they have A LOT of music recorded, but they (including BLACKPINK) are VERY PARTICULAR about what they release.
I watched an interview with BlackPink once where Jennie was talking about Teddy, she said that they would always work towards 10 out of 10, but Teddy said but wait, is there a 11 or 12 or better.(saying that we should strive for more than excellent.
Their first world tour is very successful having $56 million and now their second world tour is much more successful. The most successful tour by a girl group overall and the most successful tour by a kpop group. $260 Million USD, 6 stadium shows and 4 Australian arena shows are not yet reported. $330 Million is projected overall

fyi, their recent tour makes them the highest-grossing kpop tour of all time with an estimated 330 MILLION USD!

one of the many reasons why BP had so few comebacks is how YG manages their artists. a ex YG artist revealed that the company only managed up to 3 groups/artists per year for a comeback. they were not really able to manage more at the same time. its not just to build anticipation. YG was just incapable to prepare comebacks for more than 3 artists per year.
But YG(or rather the blacklabel) is very specific on what they release. they have Alot of sleeper songs for blackpink on their harddives there.
In the "Light up the sky" netflix documentary(which came out in 2020) you can see how they recorded the song "ready for love". this song became like a meme for blinks for YEARS because it never saw the light.. till the song then finally was released (for the pubg collaboration) in summer of 2022. 2 years later!
Same with their game soundtrack song "The girls". the song was recorded in 2021 in LA and was released THIS YEAR just recently after their tour in 2023

Lol. Lalisa 99M followers in Instagram at the moment 😅👑🖤🩷 The time this video came out the group was on tour. The Blocks (haters) as i call them we starts seeing during the tours- the Blocks (non true Blinks).
Covid hit and after close to 2 years we were starving for Blackpink. Hence after covid their comeback, “Pink Venom” has resonated worldwide, including spending two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and becoming BLACKPINK's highest charting solo hit on the Hot 100.
Take "The Asian Theory" with a grain of salt. He's great at listing stats, but his "YG Theory" of starving the public is conjecture, based on zero facts. He neglected to mention that the company was about to go bankrupt during that "starve the fans" period, due to the numerous scandals that YG (the CEO) and other artists were involved in. He had to literally step down from the company as CEO so his name would not further damage the image of the company. YG Entertainment was going to be removed as one of the "BIG 3" K-Pop companies as well.
In the past YG had also made a statement to the effect of "I'm not good with girl groups." Perhaps that's why he made that insulting comment about 2NE1's looks. I think that the company froze most production while they were trying to put out fires, the company had gotten a bad name in the industry and the press and they may have felt that any artist releasing content might have underperformed. I know that it would not be true in BLACKPINK's case, they were already a juggernaut in the industry. I really don't think that YG realized their global reach at that time.
I think that "The Asian Theory" just enjoyed his college marketing course so much that he felt that he had to teach his favorite slogans and concepts to everyone. The video doesn't know what it wants to be, one minute it's teaching the history of K-Pop, the next it's asking if you remember very old groups as if you're already familiar with K-Pop! I think he should have shown the video to his professor before releasing it, perhaps they would have offered some constructive criticism to make the video more focused

I'm not really into k-pop, but i'm a kdrama-holic since pandemic, even before pandemic I've been watching k-dramas. Snowdrop was one of the best kdrama i've watched, of course Jisoo is the female lead, then searching clips of her here in YT leads to a video with other members like Jennie in a show called Running Man, there I've been in love for her cuteness, then I became fan of both Blackpink (initially because of Jennie) and Running Man (initially because of Jeon So Min, an actress turned entertainer, an absolute goofball like Jisoo but i don't have an idea that Jisoo is like this because I've never seen Blackpink House show before)

Physical media is a huge part of K-pop with groups even releasing member specific versions of Albums on CD and Vinyl. A girl at works daughter has 3 versions of Born Pink on CD.

27:31 I just want to bring a sad topic to the table, as you can see in the list here we have Lisa and Jenne on top 2 and IU (a soloist) which is the most popular singer in korea at number 3 and after that we see 2 names, Sulli and Hara. The sad story is that both of them commited suicide in 2019. Both were under 30 years old. And what I want to achieve by bringing up this topic is to remind all the fans out there to be respectful to other idols, don't fall into insults and disrespect, they are people too and you would be surprised how many of them do read comments.

Yea that's right...support your Artists if you really like their stuff. I couldn't really buy the Square up album, so I settled for their last album, Pink Venom a special edition on presale. I haven't even unpacked it except Jisoo stuff. I bought it because I really did like every song, which is very rare to like everything of an artist so I bought the album blind not knowing any song. Also the first album I bought in years...
Wish the guy would remake the documentary since this was in 2020. 3 years later everything is like 4x bigger. Even in terms of sales. They went from 250k with their first EP to 3 million physical copies with Born Pink. Not many artists sell that many physical copies anymore. Only BTS in SK.
FYI YG entertainment has over 500 employees and from the last financial statements over 80 percent of their revenue was from Blackpink last year and that's why their stock is down with so much uncertainty regarding their contact status.
As other posters have said their are a lot of opinions and misinformation presented as facts in this video they even used a known doctored photo of Lisa with a enlarged nose.
The truth is most of YG's revenue comes from concerts, followed by endorsements, merch and then music sales.
The girls are super busy without releasing a huge amount of music due to their endorsement deals but they still spend a huge amount of time in the studio so they could probably realease more music if the company thought it would increase profits.
Lisa has had plastic surgery in past and there is proof literally Available on social media even in getty pictures you can clearly see rihnoplastu scars on around her nose
There's nothing wrong with getting plastic surgery it's her face & money
But denying something with even plastic surgeons have pointed out is stupid

Lip fillers are generally needed to be touched up, typically around half a year. So Lisa’s lip variations can be seen very properly as they’re changing all the time. Either it’s swollen or thin.
She also had a nose job , and skin bleaching

this video feels so outdated now.. coz this was all before their first album era.. and they obliterated all the mentioned records from this video to dust.
For example the first worldtour records with 36m$ grossing... their current just finished Born pink tour is now the highest grossing tour by a vocal group in HISTORY with 269m$(60/66 reported shows so far, so it will be well over 300m$).
Everything that happened AFTER this release time of the video was even more insane(The Album era, Born pink era, Lisa/Rosé/Jisoo solo era etc).
they even had a movie for the cinemas released and their own videogame haha.

Everyone knows that Jennie gets a lot of hate, but to say that she is hated more than Lisa then you are already trying to force it. Lisa has suffered hate since her debut, Korea and many of Jennie's solo “fans” still do not accept that she is the biggest kpop idol in the world, mainly because she is Thai. Lisa suffers hate in several foreign languages, with xenophobia, racism, death threats, bullying, etc... one more thing I can say with ease, that Jennie is the biggest female idol in Korea and Lisa is the biggest female idol in k- pop.
