Okra is a tender crop that needs plenty of heat and sun. Sow in April or early May and they will be ready to harvest from mid-summer to autumn when young and tender.
Well done rose .Since I am in Netherland and I have sown the seeds in june 1st n hoping it will come nicely .It's 1st time experiencing vegetable gardening. MY bottle gourd also sprouted now .By seeing ur vedio I am encouraged .Thanks rose .
Wow Leena I am so glad 😊 yes growing our veggies is so satisfying and every stage of the plants growth is exciting. Good luck with your gardening and hope you get a good harvest 😊 thank you so much for visiting the image
Thanks for the quick reply .Let me know when should I plant the seedling in bigger pot since the night temp is still 12 n morning is 21 degree n rainy also with less sun .
Ha a mother of 5coming to the UK happy to bump into ur video. I love growing my own vegs! 👌 basically every thing in my country Uganda I grow every food .but coming to the uk. Was wondering how will I do it. Thanks alot hope there's more cos I love indoor plants too❤.

Thank you so much for watching 😄. Glad to know that your growing your own fruits and veggies. Wish you good luck in your gardening 👍 I got spineless okra seeds from B&Q 😊
Great video TFP - Wanted you to say which part of the UK you're at though, as that can make a difference too. North/South/East or ...? Felt excited for you when saw them growing like that. 🙂 Oh, and what/where did you get your automatic watering thingy from?
Hi Olivia, thank so much for visiting the page. I live in London. I got the automatic watering controller in B&Q You also get it in Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/HOZELOCK-Watering-Controller-Automatic-Pre-installed/dp/B07YZXR1FF/ref=zg_m_bs_g_4224933031_m_sccl_2/259-4663958-0975117?psc=1
wow nice big fat okras, grown outdoors too, if you buy okra from supermarkets in england, can you keep the seeds to grow when you eat the flesh (like with a tomato)? or are the seeds too young n not fully developed when the vegetable is edible (like with a cucumber)? an addition about collecting seeds would have been good.
Hello my friend, thanks much for watching 😊 I would leave some okra pods ( maybe 2 or 3) on the plant for them to mature enough to save seeds for next summer. Seeds from young ones wouldn’t sprout on sowing. Hope this helps and happy gardening 👩🌾
@@RosyDaisy unfortunately thats what I thought would prob be the case, most shops n supermarkets dont sell the seed packets, but some supermarkets sell the veg/fruit . but thanks anyway.
Hi Rani, thank you so much 😊 It’s advisable not to plant them out now as it’s still cold. Okra needs plenty of heat to crop well and they can’t stand wind. You could plant them out once the weather is settled probably between mid and end of May. Happy gardening and good luck 😊
Hi Saman, Growing okra in the UK can be a bit challenging as it requires heat and full sun to grow. Weather this year is not as good. I live in the East. In the the UK it grows more successfully in a greenhouse or polytunnel, Good luck next time Saman 😊

Beautiful okra pods. Where did you buy the seeds?
Thank you Ruth 😊
Bought the seeds from B&Q
@@RosyDaisy thank you.
Is it too late to plant okra now?
I’m a first time gardener 👩🏽🌾😄
Any suggestions for companion plants for Okra? Also what is best to rotate them with?
Strongly scented herbs like Basil, Oregano are good companion plants as their scent can deter pests. Cucumber is also a good companion plant.
Best crops to rotate with okra are hot Peppers, Beans /Cucumbers. I usually plant them in pots and planters Jonathan😊
@@RosyDaisy thanks, I have a large planter that I grew beans in last year, might try okra in that one. Maybe with a cucumber.
Good luck Jonathan 😊
you could feed the plants with chicken pellets to boost growth and yield
Where are you in the UK? I am going to try Okra second time this year, last year it wasn’t successful, didn’t give any okra.
