With very much respect to Scott's recent bluesy style, I prefer his tone and playing from this particular TT -era. That´s THE fusion-lead-tone for me - fat, but transparent; I also like the fact, that he didn´t "overuse" the whammy-bar back then. Scott Henderson is for me the greatest Fusion-player comin´out of the 80s, a virtuoso, but not a cold technician like Gambale, a legatoplayer that doesn't sound like an Allan-clone, a jazzplayer, that can REALLY rock or a rockplayer with a gigantic rhythmic, compositional and harmonic background...seen him with Zawinul, TT and the trio - always a great pleasure!
I really agree with you dude.... I don't understand how great players like Anthony Jackson and Scott Henderson change completely your style. Anthony, for me, had your best period either 70 and 95/96. Scott fusion era is unbelievable. Blues era not for me, I prefer others plays without much tremolo and pitch effect
Man I can't believe here I am in 2021 commenting again! Elvis at the Top, Scott fusion TT still at the top of the fusion music in my humble opinion, with all respect of his trio era after, this is the music that still resonating in my brain. I Saw and have the privilege to talk to Scott in Brazil twice, one he was a guest in Arpoador near Ipanema in Rio and the second time in a Theatre in Botafogo besides a big Mall Rio Sul I came early to the show and Saw Scott and I believe Kevin Covington was in that line up. A wonderful show of course, but I'm still preferring this quintet format, Love the show in Israel as well. So inspirational!
Guess you mean "Elvis at the Hop". Saw TT twice here in Denmark. Once in Pumpehuset (with the same musicians as in this video except from Joey Jordison on drums), Copenhagen City and once in Montmarte (the new Montmarte which unfirtunately is closed as the old Montmarte (with Scott Kinsey on keyboards and Hillary Jones on drums)).
Damn, this band throws DOWN! Scott is one of those rare guitarists who can play thru changes AND play legit rock and blues guitar - ya know - bends and all. I've always thought the electric guitar is one of the, if not THE, instruments most intimately and directly connected to the player. It's those bendy damn strings. They are just dyin' to make you sound stupid. Or, as in Scott's case, enable you to be wildly expressive and totally unique. It's all in the hands - you either have it or you don't. Scott definitely does. Plus, he can make waffles for the band with that rig.
TT blew my mind. The omonimo album is the GOAT of Jazz- Fusion era. All compositions and playing are awesome!!!! Scott and Gary togheter are an infrared high-particle neutronbeam which light the entire galaxy!!! Love you guys!
I was at this performance. Attended MI at the time. This was an eye opening experience. To witness this in person was unreal.as shock to the system. Heredia literally did the best drum solo I've ever heard in my 40+ years of playing/listening.
Scott was so underrated. I think he's one of the greatest in this field of guitar playing. His song composing and execution of what he composed was so awesome. I am a huge fan.
"Nomad" and "Tribal Tech"... those were some serious business! Great writing, awesome playing, serious grooves going on all the time... the best band in my book. I LOVE it when Scott rips it up. What a joy to watch this. Thanks, Scott!
Thanks for the post. Great track, awesome playing & solo as usual. David Goldblatt's solo awesome too and so is Gary's and Joe's playing - TT still is the best Fusion band this side of the galaxy.
FANTASTICO!! EXCEPCIONALMENTE BUENO.CON LOS ACTUALES INTEGRANTES MUY INTESANTE.EL TECLADISTA MUY VERSATIL,IMPROVISA MUY BIEN,EL BATERISTA NUEVO TAMBIEN MUY BUENO.TODOS SON UN COMPLEMENTO MUY BUENO.ESCUCHARLOS ME DEJARON ELECTRIZADO.OOHH WAAAUU!!
Just wow. My favorite era for Scott's playing. It was one or two years later I saw TT at The Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana. I was up close and it was really great. Thank you so much for this footage.
Lol, Heredia 's reading his way through this like it was nothing! Thanks for putting this up Scott- i'll bet you're glad he don't have to lug around that refrigerator rack anymore!
Breckers and Billy C. meet Ray Gomez with an impossible (Original?!?) song worth 5 or 8 listens (to love the layback) (Sorry these guys are their own best- no comparisons wil do- Rzzzzz)
Why aren't bands like this being showcased at the Grammy's and American Music and Billboard Music Awards?...it's a travesty...thanks for not selling out to commercial garbage..........

martin nitsch thats the best tone he ever had , he just influenced by jeff back with whemmy bar shit.
Man I agree this is his best music.
While I agree his work with TT is my favorite I still really like his newer playing.
Good shot at describing - smooth timely fusion, top 7 examples of all time of,.. it's time.

Man, Gary is like the most bassist a bassist ever bassed, even the hat is on point.

Feel the same way. But I dig his solo blues work as well. The overuse of the whammy bar is definitely when I stopped listening.

Tribal Tech changed my mind about music. My best partners in the 90's. I'm proud to have them in my collection.
TT blew my mind. The omonimo album is the GOAT of Jazz- Fusion era. All compositions and playing are awesome!!!! Scott and Gary togheter are an infrared high-particle neutronbeam which light the entire galaxy!!! Love you guys!
Joey killing the drums!!!!!! and that's the way the grown ups do it!!!!!
I was at this performance. Attended MI at the time. This was an eye opening experience. To witness this in person was unreal.as shock to the system. Heredia literally did the best drum solo I've ever heard in my 40+ years of playing/listening.
best jazz-rock band ever! EVER!!!!!
Scott was so underrated. I think he's one of the greatest in this field of guitar playing. His song composing and execution of what he composed was so awesome. I am a huge fan.
Ah, Tribal Tech! Looks like a show at M.I. (P100 if my memory serves me correctly). Memories galore! Thanks for posting!
Ha ! P100 oh yeah
Great to hear Joey Heredia playing with the band. They've had some great drummers along the way. Joey, Hilary Jones and of course the beast Covington.
Yes!! And Gary Novak.
Scott was totally untouchable here. WOW! This is some amazing music.
"Nomad" and "Tribal Tech"... those were some serious business! Great writing, awesome playing, serious grooves going on all the time... the best band in my book. I LOVE it when Scott rips it up. What a joy to watch this. Thanks, Scott!
This is the lineup!!! It’s so kickass to see this !!! Goldblatt is a beast
Thanks for the post. Great track, awesome playing & solo as usual. David Goldblatt's solo awesome too and so is Gary's and Joe's playing - TT still is the best Fusion band this side of the galaxy.

Jesús Otin my favorite overall is “Got tu B”!!
You sound Great Scott. Tight band
Thanks, love this tune, ' Sub Aqua' and 'The Necessary Blonde' from the same era are also great - and so are all of TT's tunes really...
If Tribal Tech was a teenage boy band, they would be the Backstreet Boys of Jazz! Love Tribal Tech.
David McCain Boy band?STOP
The best!
scott!! it's incredible how your tone has changed throughout the years... it's so much better now! anyways, thanks for sharing these vids with us!
Olha só voce por aqui
man i think his ibanez era sounded so much better than his weird bloated scratchy tone that he uses now.
He's always been a genius, even back in these days,
never could tell what his style would have been today....
So different but great anyway.. ; )
Thanks, Scott! Love this track.
What a band. Love Joey H on the drums.
That is one of my favorite albums of TT. Joey was kickin' it. Willis looks skinny!!!!!
Loved it. Thanks
