@@asor8037 I didn’t write ‘underrated’ just to do some TH-cam thing. Ask yourself what his exposure was like in drumming magazines during the 90s - almost non-existent. KC is so far from being a well documented and renowned drummer in the general drumming consciousness it’s tragic given how good he is. Happy for you to disagree though.
That's the challenge of this type of music. As amazing as it is, It's not so easy to listen to. Kind of like listening to a lecture by a scientist. But among musicians, especially those into fusion, this is like "calculus". It gets better and better once you're starting to understand a bit of what's going on. You do get that they are quite a bit of mad scientists. They are not "underrated", but just not popular in the mainstream. But musicians generally are aware of these guys.
I wish scott stuck to this tone . This is the one i love. His tone now is different but still plays amazing fusion guitar. Thank you for sharing this video . Bless you.
Henderson is the ultimate fusion guitarist. The only one who is TOTALLY fluent in jazz, rock and blues. Not another jazz dude with an overdrive pedal. He truely LOVES all these generes.
Larry Coryell meets that description. So does Di Meola. People forget that he didn’t used to be all Latin all the time. In early RTF he did a lot of different shit 😎
@@mongooseavilacosta9359 All the players mentioned are completely unique and absolutely brilliant musicians. Yes Scott is awesome and fearless as are all the above. No need to try to convince everyone who the "greatest" is, because we all know it was Holdsworth, but we love the others too! I hope that clears things up for anyone who was confused about it. You're welcome 🤗
My brother found this and showed it to me a few years ago. I still use it as a litmus test to this day. Just Kirk Covington alone is all the entertainment I need. DM me to lol about this ❤.
This band set new horizons for jazz fusion, this stuff still sounds fresh today , other artists of the genre didn't get so lucky and their music sounds a bit dated today, anyway, mind blowing performance!
I thank Eddie Van Halen (RIP) for turning me onto Tribal Tech. Eddie's quote on this album was that Henderson was the best guitarist he ever heard in his life.
These guys are all the most amazing musicians I've ever seen. Not just individually, but also in the way they come together as a band. Scott is untouchable here. That's also true for the rest of them too! It's amazing how they realize what music is all about and how to keep it interesting!
For me this is the window when Kirk Covington was really on fire behind these dudes. Seen them and met Kirk in Portland Oregon in late 90's. Kirk was candid with me in our first conversation that he is the only drummer that really counts in the bands history. Some other drummer who I forgot his name, Russ something did an album with them that Kirk didn't seem to impressed with. Kirk was an amazing drummer to see and talk to.
These guys are so incredibly in touch with each other while playing, its almost mind blowing to witness. Kirks body language during half time accents and all the tricky licks he wants you to be aware of is absolutely mind fucking blowing. His drumming is of the fucking chain.
Thanks for upload. I’ve watched this show so many times years ago. I like the fact they love and play blues music even being a fusion band. Out from this world.
I was hooked on Tribal tech from the first time I played the "Face First" album. I have all of their albums! I love Scott Henderson's playing, Kirk on the drums and Gary Willis is one badass bassist.

Kirk Covington just goes off on the Big Wave. Off the fricken hook. I don't think I've seen anything quite like it. That's right after Gary Willis kills it. Man I'm so lucky to have found these guys. I need a Covington fix. I'm good.

Kirk Covington is the most criminally unsung drummer of the 90s. Literally had a jazz fusion style all of his own, sounds like he has 3 arms.
John Bonham would probably think Kirk was the best drummer he ever heard if John was alive today.
100% true. And don’t forget he’s an amazing pianist and singer too!
@@WrestlingErnestHemingway to me he sounds like John Bonham with jazz chops.
Is he unsung? Everything on youtube is "underrated" nowadays. Isn't Tribal Tech which he is a part of one of the most renowned fusion acts?

Gary Willis and the boys are such. monster players.

It certainly has everything to make the Blues disappear
I'm so glad this performance is being shared!!
This bands sound was on the edge of genius and insanity. No one after them managed to get to this level. Good for those who saw them live

Gary Willis is truly a beast. I wonder if he's the world's fastest bass player for long runs. And also so dynamic and expressive. Wow.
Absolutley the best single line improv player I ever heard on bass.
Saw them live in a club in my hometown some years ago....great night that was.....
god bless you uploader!!
the devil made him do it.
Não tem como, não tem nada superior a isso, isso é além dos limites.
Sadly I can only like this once.
The most underrated fusion band ever. Imo. ❤

I'm a guitar player, and I LOVE Henderson. But Gary Willis is a badass - downright scary. I spend as much time watching him as I do Henderson.
I've never hear anybody like Scott Henderson in the history of music. I don't care what instrument you play.
