    Professional grade video man! No dumb over produced/music centric over edited video. Just the facts. Keep these coming! My 2 cents on these rigs: I keep it simple...bobber stopper/weight/bobber stopper/hook. If I want a typical pegged texas type rig I slide all down to the hook...if I don't want to peg the weight I simply slide the first bobber stopper away from the weight...if I want a carolina rig I simply slide all 3 items (bobber stopper/weight/bobber stopper) 2 feet up the line. Now you can alternate between 3 types of rigs in seconds using one rod.

    I never thought about having the lighter line as the leader, I always thought that you want the heavier line at the bottom because that is the part going through rocks and other brush, but the way you have it makes more sense... Nice video!

    That's what I needed! I never put the bobber stopper... and and always put the same strength line as my leader and would get stuck and lose the entire rig... thanks for the tip

    Love your videos LakeForkGuy, very informational and have learned alot from them. But ive never thrown a Carolina Rig but ive got a Falcon Lowrider XG carolina lizard dragger rod and figured id put it to good use. My question is -- have you ever had issues or damage to your swivel knot from the weight or clacker banging & sliding into it??? Ive seen some put the bobber stop above the swivel to stop this so just curious. Thanks

    Bobber stop is interesting. I’ll have to try that. What confuses me is why everyone uses fluorocarbon for the leader. Fluoro is more dense than mono and has a tendency to sink. I want my soft plastic floating behind the sinker. I like plastics that have air holes for extra buoyancy. I usually use 14 lb green mono for leader.

    • @chasingthefish9042
      @chasingthefish9042 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bass can see a ton of different shades of green. Fluoro has less stretch making it more sensitive and depending on the line weight is almost invisible.

  • @woosa42

    So if you are fishing deep (15-25 ft) stained water could you use green braid leader?
    Also, I would think the the braid would help your plastics float better, yes ???

  • @Mr40tt
    @Mr40tt 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sir, I am not sure what you meant when you said that a tungsten weight is “Heavier and is lighter” Did you mean that it had less mass in size per weight? Or did you mean that it was lighter in color? I am just still trying to learn about Fishing. Thank You.

    Hey Justin, I know that it wouldn't effect the bait movement or action at all but with that bobber stop doesn't kind of defeat the purpose of a C-rig? With the fish being able to pick up the bait and move around without any weight dragging them down? I'm a big fan and know everyone fishes their own way but I just have never seen that before. Might have to try it. Thanks for all the content!

    • @LakeForkGuy
      @LakeForkGuy  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +dodgeramwax Thanks for tuning in! I see your point, but in my opinion the fish is going to feel the weight either way depending on which way they swim off after they grab it. The bobber stopper comes in handy with longer leaders but doesn't make much a difference with short leaders

    • @dodgeramwax
      @dodgeramwax 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +LakeForkGuy Of course! and I'll have to try that. I do have the same problems with the weight sliding just wasn't smart enough to think about pegging it! :) thanks again for the tip

  • @dannybruce1896

    What main line and leader line do you recommend in rocky/gravel/shell bed conditions where your line gets nicked and cut easily? I'm currently using Sniper fluoro 16 main with 14 mono leader.... it gets nicked easily and I break off on hooksets and lose the whole rig.

    • @jmgomez2
      @jmgomez2 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking the same thing. I thought the intent of a weight on the C-rig was so that you could drag it on the bottom, but once the fish picked up your bait the line would run smoothly through the weight and the fish wouldn't get spooked thinking it was attached to something.

    • @NikkaPleeease
      @NikkaPleeease 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't really see the point with a XF taper unless the bass are super-super finicky & their is a complete absence of bite register, especially when pitching (single hook setups), which require lightning fast hook sets to land those fish. The blank will transmit vibrations easier with a faster action (physics 101). Sounds like XF has some good perks, but much fish will be lost due to the change. The snappiness of the blank returning to rest every time its under stress will result in an increase of lures being flung out of those big green good smellin donkeys mouths.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but there is no scientific evidence that can see fishing line. The deeper the less visibility. It's fishermen that think/assume that fish see the line that make up these statements

    • @swalker9482
      @swalker9482 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      SthlmSigge I thought the same until I switched from braid to mono for clear water walleye trolling, it made a big difference. I keep a log and my catch numbers went up, now this is daylight walleye that have huge eyes and are known for there eye sensitivity. Plus its crystal clear lake

    • @patricklittle5934
      @patricklittle5934 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My catch rate rocketed using lighter fluorocarbon. Not more the line itself its the shadow it puts off. Especially in clear water. Fish aren't dumb and they notice the slightest things that can put them off especially in pressured waters

      It's the diameter of the line that makes the difference.. Less mass moving through the water, which in theory won't put the fish in a non-feeding mood. Fish can recognize line, but their brains aren't wired to make a decision in that fashion.

    Why not put a bobber stopper between the heavy tungsten weight and the knot attached to the barrel swivel? Not having anything protecting the knot is going to break the line at the knot 95% of the time and frankly it makes me really question your knowledge of fishing a Carolina rig at the least and as an angler at worst.
