Summary: When Gus sneaks Luz into Hexside School to present at the Human Appreciation Society, Luz sees a side of the school she didn't expect.

I think another really interesting point is that the Principal does not care that Eda is considered a criminal. It could mean that he too doesn't agree with convens but can't say anything.
Maybe he knows the emperors covenants isn’t all it’s cracked up to be
the scenes with the principal are always hilarious. he's not a bad guy, he just loves his institution and watching the next generation bloom. like with willow, once he saw her talent in plant magic he immediately transferred her to the plant track.
Yeah, he isn't a bad guy. It's not like he allows his students to be brainwashed and possibly die during their time in detention. Wait..
@@kahnandrews3409 yeah he's like any other principal, he doesn't tolerate bad behavior or picking on other students. Still find it funny how quickly the detention monster was so obedient after he snaps.

That moment when Eda returns to a place she considered absolute poison and completes all kinds of demeaning tasks just to give Luz the opportunity to learn...PEAK CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
That's even sadder when you realize Eda has more faith and loose than her own mother does.

@Tala Habern not really. Character development Is something that has rules. There Is a way to develop a character. This Is not the way. Onestly, to me, nothing suggest that Eda was uncapable of doing that before Luz came
For anyone wondering what her incident report track record said in the credits (also reveals she was in the potion track, but apparently dabbled in abominations as well):
Incident #5523: At 1300 hours, Edalyn Clawthorne of the Potions Track let loose a pack of feral ghosts in the girls locker room. They flew around in circles predicting students' doom and shouting out horrible puns like "What's a ghost's favorite pie--BOO-BERRY!!" We called in a rag-tag team of "ghost blasters" to clean them out but they accidentally opened a door to the ghost dimension which threatened to overtake the city.
Incident #3421: At 1200 hours, Edalyn Clawthorne raised an army of abominations to start a food fight after her sister Lilith's lunch money was stolen. The abominations then gained sentience and revolted against Edalyn, forming into one giant abomination and taking over the school. Edalyn, Lilith and the thief had to form an unlikely alliance to stop the giant abomination from destroying Hexside.
Incident #9677: At 0900 hours, Edalyn Clawthorne hexed the school bells to sing famous pop song, "SINCE U BEEN CONNED". It lasted for 5 hours and could only be stopped by pitting the school bells against each other in a fight over who's the better boy band: "Babies to Boys" or "Two Seconds to New York." It was a horrible day but no one was allowed to go home early.
Incident #2601: At 1400 hours, Edalyn Clawthorne was at it again. This time she found two giant bug-things that really just tore up the place. Oh, man, I'm getting so tired of writing these things. And now I'm just writing down what I'm thinking. Oh I hope no one actually reads these. I should take a day off. It's been years since my overlords let me take a day off.
Incident #7662: At 1100 hours, Edalyn Clawthorne let the school Griffin out from its pen and fed it spicy snacks until it vomited all over the Grudgby field. Instead of cleaning it up, I ate a donut. My friends are always telling me I should practice self-care more often, and you know what? Why not! I deserve it!
I love how Willow refers to Luz as hers and Gus' best friend.
Usually, such a title is bestowed upon someone whom you've known all your life. But they only knew Luz for...days or a few weeks, maybe
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how the show took its time to have Liz house on her own adventures and develop as a character BEFORE enrolling her in the magic school, which they could’ve easily done in Episode 3? It’s little touches like that that REALLY makes me appreciate the overall story and pacing of this show.

Eda's full name is Edalyn Clawthorne 😲🤯. And she had ginger colored hair 😲🤯.
I think that Eda's hair looks the way it is now is because of her curse, and that she wasn't completely lying to Lilith in "Covention" just to distract Lilith, and it's like the curse is *_killing_* her 😔😭😢.

Eda's really coming through for Luz. I particularly enjoyed the graffiti, No, mommy! Eda wasn't blonde, she was a redhead. That's an entirely different level of trouble!
5:42 you know when Eda said she thought there would be more I expected the principal to point at the stack and say “that’s just the index.”
I was surprised that Luz got accepted into the school. Can’t wait to see what wacky shenanigans she’ll get in to. :3

To be honest, I like him more than other principals in animation; like Mr. Barkin from Kim Possible or Prof. Rottwood from American Dragon
Fun fact: Luz in Spanish means light which is her first witch ability and is probably important for her since she even has a light orb at the end of the intro :))

Gus really should of disposed of the banned posters before Luz showed up rather then carry them around with him.
We also saw that Gus was in the illusion track before in Convention.
Idk if anyone mentioned it but yellow is Potions track which I personally find interesting because Eda shows more traits of someone with, like, an elemental track than a potions track.
Kind of ironic she was in Potions, which would have helped her in the future in making her elixirs, but dropped out probably before she reached that class
@jf k That's what I said, but on further thought I wonder if it would've helped if she had graduated. I have a feeling she would've had to join the Potion Coven to get information on demon suppressing elixirs

From what the papers said, yellow is the potion track. It implies she was a kind of Alchemist. I’m very interested to see where it leads. That is somewhere in the reports but I forget which one.
It's kind of curious that we saw Amity's siblings in this episode, but no Amity.

I wonder why everyone seems to ignore the fact that Eda is a very wanted criminal when law enforcement isn't around. (Lilith aside, she seems to enjoy being the Emperor's pet witch, though I have a feeling she also has ulterior motives.)

I think it's okay to assume that most of the other witches the don't try to turn Eda in are neutral and don't care about what Eda does.
They're either silent supporters or just don't care.
Why do they call it the "illusion track" anyway? Illusions suggest they are holograms or something else nonphysical that can't interact with the world. But we see the "illusions" be physical and change things. The Gus clone is intelligent enough to take notes, then goof off, and he even feels fear. Plus, that child without a face was muffled, so she was actually missing a face, and it isn't just a magical trick of the light. In reality, they are just making things from pure magic, and that seems more like Conjuration rather than illusion.
I think it's only called Illusion because it's generally used for distractions.
Illusion is the magic to make the unreal real, and just like (sci-fi) holograms they can be nonphysical and physical (hardlight)
@@edwardbotha2946 I would argue against that. A physical hologram is no more an illusion than a robot dressed as a boxer that punches you in the face.
@@47ratsinahoodie But if they are physical, then they can be used for more. Gus is still young, and his illusions can do things like move objects and feel fear. We don't know the limits of his illusions, but that suggests that with enough magic, he could make a giant monster that can destroy buildings. If that is still just a "distraction" then I would hate to see actual fighting magic.
@@rolay7730 True, but break a robot and you have physical bits laying around. Break a solid hologram, and the bits just vanish into the non-existence they came from
Luz does make a good point especially when you consider how little teaching of actual magic Eda has really done for Luz I mean that directly bit them in the ass in the convention episode.
I bet that Luz is going to be the same class as Eda as yellow Potion track class. I mean, potion dont really need a lot of spell casting....
what saddens me is they said "next semester" but that might be too late for Luz who will probably go home when her supposed "camp" is over

Before owl house came out when I saw the wanted sign I thought that a lot of people in the boiling isles were gonna try to turn Eda in to get the money but then this episode came out and I was like ohhh okay so not everyone really cares about her being wanted
She kinda saved a lot of people from prison

me gusto como en este episodio se noto como luz influyo en eda haciendo que esta pueda reconocer que sus métodos no son del todo apropiado para la formación de luz y se trage su orgullo y se arrastre para matricularla en hexside ,y a su vez como luz es mas asertiva (como eda) cuestionando el método de enseñanza de eda y que no es del todo correcta y que ella deve de tomar su propio juicio sobre hexside .
sera interesante ver a luz en hexside y como se adapta a un colegio donde ella ya no es la rara XD

As for this episode, I feel like they backpedal abit.... Don't get me wrong, I know Eda has been an awful teacher and Willow and Gus haven't been teaching her either althought now we know they are into one type of magics, I don't think that would had benefited Luz either.
I mean they made a big deal how much of an rebel Eda was and despite expecting her to joined a magical school, it was somewhat refreshing they went against it at first...
