- Here are my top Instacart tips for beginners I've learned after completing my first batches. I may not have a ton of experience with shopping for Instacart, but I've learned a lot about the gig economy as being a delivery driver over the past couple years. If I asked somebody how to become a better Instacart shopper before I started, this is what I would have wanted them to tell me.

Guy that just got fired from his produce QC job here.
Quickest way to judge quality of any produce, flip it upside down. Look for any type of moisture. When produce goes bad it produces heat and water. So any condensation or pooling liquid can be an indicator of bad quality.
Go to a farmers market. Do not buy crap from this murderous company.
One tip id give, whenever I drop off an order I send a text “if you’re happy with everything please don’t forget to leave 5 stars :) hope you have a great day/night/week/weekend”
Since doing this my tips have increased and I usually have around 70 5 star reviews (5.0 shopper on about 916 orders)

As a 3k orders seasoned vet I feel this video is spot on when it comes to tips for beginners I do all types of apps like you to me IC is king because of how much you can make per hour… great video …. PS produce is easy once you get use to it lol 😂
how many miles you put on your car if you do this for 10 hrs?
@@anmarams well it varies cus sometimes you do a bunch of orders that are not to far and sometimes u get orders of a lot of driving but if I have to give you an avg. I would say around 100-120 miles a day.

Hi Jacob, thanks for the video. I just started doing Instacart, till now I did 2 orders. Unfortunately on the second one the customer took out the tip after the delivery. I didn't know they could do that. And I didn't make any mistakes. I just replied to the customer saying that I couldn't find one specific item. But in the end I got some help and found it. Now I am aware to check the batches and I will never count on the tips again.
That sounds awful. I’ve never had a tip taken away. I think it’s pretty rare but I haven’t done too many orders
Im 12 orders in and did a triple order today, now that was a party. $25 for 40 items and 7 miles of delivery driving. I think i got screwed on that, but need to raise my ratings
I like the delivery only ones. And if I have to shop, I look for 25 items or less just to improve.
I agree I'm not a huge produce fan, I had 1 that I had to text the gf and ask her for her opinion on them.
I wish there were more delivery only order near me. Haven’t seen one in a while. And yes, I try to accept batches with the least items possible so I can keep moving. It’s what I’m used to from delivery for restaurants

Hey Jacop. I downloaded the timestamp and that's a great idea. I could of used this yesterday cause my customer called me after I dropped off the order and said that she didn't received it. They said hand it to me and after knocking on the door 3 times Noone answered the door so I left it. It was the right address but she claimed it was down further on the same road. Called Uber about it and they didn't do anything to me. Probably a scam to get free food cause she complained to Uber. If I had timestamp it would of showed the right address. People!!!!!

I really do not like doing produce. It’s not bad at Aldi because most of it is prepackaged and doesn’t have to be scanned. But there is always the chance of picking bad produce and get complaints. It just seems to take so much longer to bag and weigh and search, lol. Second worst is the meat department.
Yes the produce and meat seem to take so much longer per item!
You can never catch a break in produce
I've literally wasted time LOOKING thru ALL veggies and fruit to find the best and firm with no spots on dents
and have STILL had ... A-holes report.... damaged....

Well as a customer who tried to use instacart for the first time because I was sick and needed someone to deliver groceries I didn't like receiving crappy produce and a carton of eggs where one of the eggs was broken or meat was squashed under other items. I don't know if I'll continue to use the service if that's how the shoppers feel about doing something like picking out good produce. Or even separating all of the perishable and non-perishable items would be good. You should be doing that anyway. If you want to get good tips, do everything you can to make the experience as good as possible for the person doing the order. Picking and choosing whatever you like and leaving other people in the lurch doesn't seem right to me either. Of course we're talking about beginners here so I get that, but just because someone has a lot of produce or whatever doesn't mean you should just keep passing them over or do a rush job in picking it out.
I disagree about produce, as it is all right there, in one section with very little brand name, variation searches, like freaking shampoo and anything skin care! Hahaha! LOVE working for Instacart! But, that's cause I've always loved shopping.

Do you text the customer in-app or to their phone number or do we even have access to their actual phone number? As a shopper, I often miss the in-app texts sent to me from the shopper.
Is instacart better than doordash for ordering Groceries or snacks
I am new to instacart. As of now, I've done 5 orders, and the double orders are pouring in. I just want single orders.

What if you did both a Shipt order and an InstaCart order simultaneously at the same store?
I probably wouldn't recommend it if you're a beginner

Shopping would actually be a great team situation. One person shops the other delivers... apps aren't smart enough to figure that out....fools....no imagination.....think they know it all.....
what’s the uber eats policy for cancellation rate? what can get you deactivated on UE?
I honestly don’t know if there is a number that can get you deactivated. They say that if you cancel an order that hasn’t been picked up, we will not be penalized
@@PhoenixDeliveries So if you accept an order, and cancel it because of the long wait time, you won’t really be affected?
That’s what their website says. I think it’s strange because DoorDash cares so much about completion rate but I guess it’s nice. I try to keep my cancellation rate relatively low just in case
@@victoriaxbeck I say don’t be afraid to cancel for long waits. I’ve cancelled 3 UE orders over 2 days before and they didn’t deactivate me. But don’t make a habit of it
Jacop is right there is no set number of cancelations BUT they will eventually see that your doing it allot soooooo BEWARE!!!!! Lol
