- Jonalyn Viray singing her highest version of Whitney Houston's "Run to You" on Party Pilipinas Proud Ako VOX segment.
She was the first ever grand champion from the singing competition Pinoy Pop Superstar in the Philipines and then won in the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS OF PERFORMING ARTS in Hollywood where she bagged 5 GOLD MEDALS.
She is known for her soulful voice, extreme belting ability, and the ability to sing in the whistle register. She has cited Mariah Carey and Regine Velasquez as her greatest musical influence, along with Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Kelly Clarkson, Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle.
She is currently in a group called La Diva with Aicelle Santos as alto, Maricris Garcia as mezzo-soprano and Viray as Soprano. She was also in a group called DECIBELLES with Kyla and Rachelle Ann Go. She had a recent concert with Frencheska Farr and Julie Ann San Jose entitled 'Beyond Limits'.
She is in contemporary with Sarah Geronimo, Rachelle Ann Go, Charice Pempengco, Kyla, Angeline Quinto and Nina Girado.

@FlusteredGuy that was just for the vox since that segment is all about pipes. their vocal coach asked her to sing it that way. jona can always sing the original key in a heartbeat. :)

@DanielAlexis17 okey very informative stuff ta. anyway i dont really spend much time here in youtube because im a very busy person. and about the jonalyn never heard here in uk dont know how come she penetrate the music industry in the philippines. i must be idiot as you told me but i got life to enjoy with and not hanging around most of the time here on youtube...

Not all diva can sing run to you..sarah can't sing that song perfectly.. unlike jonalyn who sings from her heart and unleashed the fire of her vocal power..

i'm a fan of Sarah Geronimo and they always compare Jonalyn Viray to her.. well i guess they should not, they are both very good.! this video proves that Jona is very good when it comes in belting and it makes me proud to be a filipino..

jonalyn is a champion in Pinoy Pop Superstar, then she joined a singing competition in Hollywood called World Championships of Performing Arts, where she championed again, bringing 5 gold medals.
She can do coloratura passages(only filipina pop singer to do so)
she can impeccably demonstrate crescendos and decrescendos
glissandos, whistles, runs and riffs, and a range of 4 octaves

she has one of the best vocal quality in the philippines
and i want you to understand na she's a soprano with a very high tessitura that's why she's best seen with high notes

charice is a mid-range belter that's why whitney songs suit her, as well as sarah which is a mid-range belter

@pampers200 first of all i'm not a chaster. mahilig lang ako umusisa sa mga singers, kasi dito sa music industry hindi lahat dapat idaan sa birit, dapat may sarili kang uniqueness at good quality ng boses hindi puro flat at "ngo ngo" peace :) you should learn about music. it's obviously FLAT! tanggapin na kasi, and like what i said before she needs more control in singing that's the fact! i think D6 charice highest note so far.
