I've been eating foods up to your recommendations, organic mountain valley rice, carrot juice, matcha brew, blueberries and other berries, organic chocolate from NZ, pure olive oil, vitamins B and D, turmeric and other anti inflammatory spices, bell pepper for vit C. I can say that after just some days there is visible improvement in my body and skin.
Also what i have is dried garlic powder tea. I find it very beneficial for health.
i live alone, when i cook dried beans i cook alot plain, then i take out and freeze half or more of them. then i cook something with what i have, a stew, a soup, put in a salad.... the froozen beans i can add to anything i want.
Great idea. Thanks.
Thank you for the great information.
Perhaps you can show and explain what you eat for meals in a week. And why you choose those meals
Exactly what I need too
Excellent video!!!! You are quickly becoming (actually have become) my go to plant based nutrition source!!!! THANK YOU!!!

Still loving you, Doc. Thanks

I ate a can of organic black beans yesterday! I also ate some hummus.
I rarely see any information about G6PD. Thanks so much for this bit of new knowledge.
This video is excellent, full of valuable information and visuals. I find when I watch your videos I actually watch and do not multitask so I can take in all the visuals as well.
Super interesting and articulated information 🎉🎉🎉Love this ,thank you ,Doc ❤
Your videos are highly enlightening and truly filled with relevant information, Doc!
Thanks for this master class and also for the cooking tips 😀
Love it!
Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
Love your presentations!!!
Thanks so much❤
Thank you so much God bless you ❤️❤️❤️
Yum, Santa Maria Pinquito beans are great! Love your videos. I'd love to see a "what I eat in a typical day" video sometime. Keep up the great work doc.
Great information
Thank you, Doctor! It is tough for me to lose weight. I had a hysterectomy with immediate menopause. I really enjoy Tempeh. Make changes for the positive! ❤🎉
Thanks for the video very informative! Love it 😅and ❤ the beans. I grew up eating lot beans because we grew it in our farms. Missed those days😢😅!
Thank you
Thank you for this information, I love beans and eat them all the time. But never heard of pink beans will have to track those down.
You're just a wealth of information! Thanks for sharing - people pay for dietitians to tell them this!
So much good information for the layperson....🤓
Love your video! Can you recommend a high quality calcium fortified soy milk? I have difficulty finding one, all the ones I see have some sort of additives
Fava beans 😋
MY FOREFATHERS IN INDIA WERE VERT SMART. THEY DID NOT HAVE E LABS TO MEASURE NUTRITION BUT THEY ATE A LOT OF BEANS, GREENS, WHEAT AND RICE, WITH NO ANIMAL MEATS.
Beautiful video like always!!❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
can you make a cooking video with recipes of your favorite meals?
I love beans, but once a certain Dr. mentioned about the danger of lectins. I stopped eating beans, but I desire to consume more plant based proteins. Thank you for this video.
Thank you for sharing all of this valuable information with the world. Just wanted to ask, if I don’t have the time to soak beans and boil them, is it ok to get organic canned beans and wash them a few times and use them in salads or heat them up to serve?
Delicious 😋
Great info! Thanks
Well, I find your videos very helpful. When you do your lists. I wish you would put in the comments or the Moore section the list that you were talking about so say you do a video that has the top 10 foods to eat for losing weight, including it in the additional comments with the video would be very helpful. I do watch the whole video but I know you structure it so people will watch the entire video so they get all of the information. However, it doesn’t really help me when I’m trying to prepare a shopping list for grocery shopping or food.
Great suggestions only I'm in an area where all we have is Walmart basically. No miso paste when looking for it and few things you've listed in your video. Guess a good question would be do you have suggestions on where to order these items online? Verified website I guess?
Some of us live in food deserts. We just don't have access to some things you've listed.
Thanks for the info. Not sure if you see this, but if so can you comment on soy and fibroids. I have a large fibroid and my obgyn has advised against eating too much soy. Also recomends not taking estrogen for menopause.
Do you boil and rinse? Or just boil and continue cooking? After soaking beans overnight then
All well and good but all these are high in oxalates which some of us have issues with 😕
Thank you for ALL the useful, credibly researched info you provide in a lovely manner & I appreciate how you share personal, genuine, teachable, & endearing stories that relate to what you're teaching! Thank U bc that helps A LOT! Also, I appreciate how you provide research and leave choices up to the viewer thinking of ALL repruccions! I Truly feel your channel should have billions of subscribers at the LEAST!! So i will do my Best when my channel begins which is VERY different subject matter but credibly sourced research as I live for research 🤓 & embrace it! I admire U so much and thank U especially THIS video too bc I didn't know how vital black beans were and stopped eating beans bc of them being in a can thinking that was the WORST thing ever but I Truly love them and soy beans 😋 yum! Edamame, soy milk switching 2 after THIS, love tofu always have! Thank U Dr! 💯🙏🙏💛💛
Bless your heart. So much info to guard our health. Sometimes I feel overwhelm.
Is Natto something you agree with?
So is that raw wheat term or toasted wheat germ?
Are dry, roasted peanuts OK?
Can I ask, does Aquaphava , the liquid in canned beans contain the lectins? I see people cooking and using that liquid on utube ..is that a good idea?
As she said, rinse your canned beans. They just don't need to be soaked, so they can be used quickly. The actual amount present in a given can is pretty much always going to be an unknown.
1 cup of almonds has 826.54 calories! 1 cup of beans 670 calories and I can assure you, I can eat that and much more in a day. Whereas 1 cup of 1% cottage cheese has 190 calories. Calories in and calories out has to matter - and this is the problem for us who are trying to lose weight. I've never been able to reconcile this.....
It’s NOT just about calories. Different foods give the body different messages.
Food is INFORMATION!
One cup (172 grams) of cooked black beans contains 227 calories.
Eden brand beans have been pressure cooked before being canned. I think west brae brand as well.
What about fresh sprouts? Do those have lectins?
50-95% less , it varies
What beans aren't and are complete proteins?
Can you have a video for someone who is allergic to soybeans?
I’ve never bought Miso paste before. Want to try cooking with it instead of salt as you suggested. There are so many different kinds. Which one should I get?
Try the lighter or white miso first. It has a lighter taste.
Do you have a cookbook?
no, but I have a free e-recipe I share weekly via email. If you would like to subscribe, here is the link to sign up. nacproplus.com/
Is whole soy beans ok to cook and eat straight
Do you recommend a specific soy milk that doesn't have all of the fillers? Do you make your own?
Westsoy organic doesn’t have any fillers (I find in the aisle at Walmart where they sell bottled juice; it’s not refrigerated). I use it to make my own yogurt also.
Trader Joe's Organic unsweetened soy milk is delicious and contains 1 ingredient only which is organic soybeans. This product is shelf stable.
@@Bubblegumswitch I prefer soymilk with calicium otherwise I just eat tofu with calcium.
Soybeans. Back to Eden. Book from 1930's. Popular in 70s to this day! 😊
I dont have teeth. Can't eat hard nuts. All my food is on the soft side. Are grinded nut ok?
Hard to find organic wheat germ
What if you have a thyroid nodule? Doc says no soy at all not even milk.
Hi, Dr. Liu - I just discovered your channel, and I've been happily binging on your vids. I'm in information overload and not complaining at all!
I'm a bit confused regarding your comment about one of the benefits of azuki beans being that they inhibit digestive enzymes. I've been taking digestive enzymes and DGL to aid in digestion since I have GERD and no gall bladder. I'm not totally clear on how either or both of these things work, but I've always believed they aid in digestion by helping to break down the food (maybe faster, maybe not?). So, of course, when you mentioned a benefit of azuki beans is that they inhibit digestive enzymes, my ears naturally perked up, wondering how that fits in (or not) with my taking digestive enzymes, or if I would even need to take them with a meal of beans.
Can you elaborate on this in a response or perhaps in a future video? Thanks again for making all of these awesome videos. I love your presentation style, and I'm so happy to have discovered you! - Karen 🥰
I don't like black beans. Does it matter which beans you eat? Ive been eating lentils every night now
Soy beans 💓
Since taking thyroid med for hypothyroid I read I could no longer eat tofu and edamame. Is this correct? I used goneat both alot
I have never heard this, but I'm interested now. Thyroid removed a decade ago.
Anyone know what 2 do for hypothyroidism and a severe allergy to any synthetic iodine? But I'm MORE curious about Ur situation and u had it removed? How r u feeling?
May I ask why tofu and edamame is bad for hypothyroidism? I feel very undereducated about it when I should know lol 🤣?
That's because the "no harmful hormones" at 09:15 in this video is not quite accurate. It depends on who we are talking about, and with how long of an exposure, as soy typically contains phytoestrogens that mimic estrogen activity in the body. Follow your doctor's advice for your particular circumstance.
@@DOLLCRAZES Is your specific case of hypothyroidism from iodine deficiency? Outside of that rare case, hypothyroidism cannot be addressed by additional iodine intake. In fact it can worsen the situation. Typically if hypothyroid, then a synthetic thyroid hormone is usually prescribed. If allergic to that (only through prescription) then a further discussion is required with a health care professional.
❤
I don't have a clue how to do that math.
I weigh 275 lb.
Please tell me how many grams or ounces of beans a day I need to eat.
Would it be okay if I just ate a can of beans in the morning.

I don't know
who to listen to
Some doctors on TH-cam say protein it's not important fiber is more important other doctors say protein is more important and fiber it's not important other doctors say good fat such as dairy grass fed cheese and milk olive oil avocado it's good for you some doctors say no you can gain weight some doctors say eating two eggs a day it's not good for you some doctors say eating four eggs a day with yolk it's excellent source of protein for you this is all nonsense I think social media has to go people pay a visit to a doctor eevery 6 to 9 month to do their blood work it's way better.
Especially people on TikTok talk completely nonsense when it comes to health.
That app should be have been Ban long time ago.
In my opinion with my experience as a bodybuilder people should eat three small meals a day breakfast lunch 6:00 or 7:00
light dinner
healthy food exercise 30 minutes each day eliminate all
sugar all processed food
Are peanuts not All g.m.o never saw a package saying no GMO
i've seen ones labeled organic.
How do you know if you can't eat fava beans without going to the doctor? Nobody tells you how to cook with soy sheets.
Urea is used in so many cosmetics. What do you think about this?
your body makes that. It's the other chemicals that's pretty bad.
I have SEVERE abdominal cramps when I eat beans, even with washing twice and soaking and then rinsing before cooking. I've even tried cooking them much longer in my pressure cooker but the same problem persisted so I tried canned beans with the same problem, then I tried canned beans that I cook an additional hour... same problem. So I'm thinking I may be allergic to beans.
Not an allergy, common. th-cam.com/video/hCrvZ3dvtgo/w-d-xo.html
😊🙏👍
I agree all said is true about beans , unfortunately I can’t eat makes me to much gas . Even if we soak the beans over night they take much longer than 1 hour to cook, and after all that time boiling all the benefits are gone.
If you put some baking soda in the beans about halfway through, it will reduce most of the gas in beans. 😊
If soy like tofu soy milk etc are good for you why is soybean oil listed as an inflammatory oil?
Oil is a processed ingredient like sugar. Oils are not real food however they are found abundantly all kinds of foods and people are over consuming them.
Who recommends the protein amount .8?
The National Academy of Medicine recommends 0.8 grams of protein per day per kilogram of body weight. This standard has been around for decades. Most Americans consume far more than 0.8 grams.
@@aliciab4236 yeah I heard about the consumption. Also, I heard 1 gram.
Kilograms. A protein calculator is very helpful.
@@marcirobins5144 it gives a range. I was wondering what was in a scientific medical journal. Another doctor recommends another percent.
@@aliciab4236 protein consumption overall is true. I thought she would say what organization or journal it is from. Reference wise.
Please write a cookbook because I'm getting tired of the note taking
I hate beans 😢
Maybe you haven’t tried enough variety
With all due respect, I believe you are mistaken and confusing lectins for enzyme inhibitors. It’s not lectins people need to be aware of but enzyme inhibitors. All seeds and nuts naturally have enzyme inhibitors that prevent the enzymes from activating. Essentially they keep the seeds dormant until the seed finds itself in an ideal environment which is usually under the earth and with moisture. It is water that deactivates the enzyme inhibitors. Trying to eat and digest raw seeds or too many nuts can result in an upset stomach and sometimes with pain and distress. This is because even though your body will throw large quantities of enzymes in an attempt to break down the seeds or nuts, they will not be able to because of the enzyme inhibitors.
Not quite true. The longest-lived populations on the planet often have seeds and nuts as part of their diets. There is no direct parallel between the enzymatic activity and effect within a seed or plant and the digestive activity of enzymes by the human body, as well as in other animals, some of which are specialists in eating these as their primary food source. You are correct that overconsumption can lead to discomfort / distress, but the lesson from that for most people is simply intake in moderation.
@@ReflectedMiles. Rather than argue about this, I recommend you read a book about Enzyme Nutrition by Dr Edward Howell. I think you completely misunderstood me.
@@Tony-un3vf I'm familiar with the theory. I didn't misunderstand you. Howell did not have the credentials to do the work you refer to, only having a "limited medical license" in Illinois, which in medicine is the equivalent of a learner's permit for driving. Long term human-outcomes data are the bottom line for any theory, and this one fails on that ground.
@@ReflectedMiles obviously you looked up the wrong Dr. Edward Howell. Dr Howell passed away in 1988 at the age of 90. He was a biochemist and a nutrition researcher. He was qualified to do his research and he was not a medical doctor.
When you consider that all life forms on earth consume their food raw with the exception of humans, we are an anomaly.
Dr Howell stated, “When man discovered fire, disease was born”.
Why was that? Because when we eat a fruit for example, we usually eat it raw and thereby capture its enzymes. The same holds true for a snake that kills its prey and swallows it whole and also captures its enzymes. Those same enzymes break down the food it came in. This spares the snake from having to use its own enzymes. The enzymes our body produces are basically for the most part, metabolic enzymes that repair the body.
However, upon eating cooked food that is absent of any enzymes, the body must convert the metabolic enzymes into digestive enzymes in order to break down what we just ate. This is a priority or it could mean death. However, no sooner does your body digest the food you just ate, but then you eat lunch and then there’s dinner. Over time, many of the repair work goes on the back burner because your enzymes are too busy digesting dead food.
As to the subject of enzyme inhibitors, they are built into seeds and nuts by nature to ensure survival of the species. Ancient wheat seeds have been found in ancient Egyptian tombs. Some of these seeds were then planted and they actually sprouted, despite being thousands of years old. If the seeds sprout too early, it can be the death of the seed.
You mentioned “experts “ in the field of eating seeds and nuts. Do you know what a crop is? Some birds like chickens have a crop where they store seeds and then bring them back up to eat when the seeds have been cured of enzyme inhibitors.
What about squirrels, they like nuts, don’t they?
Yes, they do. But even squirrels don’t eat nuts just like that. They don’t have anything special that allows them to bypass the enzyme inhibitors. Squirrels find nuts and then bury them. In the moist soil, the nuts begin to sprout and when this happens, squirrels are usually able to hear the sprouting nut and dig them out. Of course, not all nuts are found and some of them end up growing into trees. This is how nature works and ensures the survival of the species.
For the same reason we humans have to soak our beans overnight to remove the enzyme inhibitors. Not soaking them long enough can be a bad thing as consuming them with some enzyme inhibitors still present can result in lots of flatulence and stomach distress. This is an indication that the body is having a hard time digesting them.
There’s something to say about eating a raw food diet as the practice allows the body to fully utilize its own endogenous enzymes to repair the body and slow down aging. Some people, including top world athletes have tried this. I was one of them, when I experimented on myself by eating raw food for a year and a half. I ate primarily fruit and some vegetables. I can say it was transforming. I did however go back to eating cooked food, but I’m glad I tried it. If you actually want to see someone else who is doing it, go to TH-cam and search: CNN DR Gupta interviews raw folder who eats 25 lbs of fruit per day. The guy runs 100 mile marathons. What he says about it is true, because it happened to me.

Would love to know WHY SOY BEANS CAUSE SUCH BREAST PAINS even a tiny amount like just a few sips of soy milk or tbspn organic soy? I was prescribed DRINKING GOOD QUALITY SOY MILK AND ALMONDS DAILY to it rid XANTHELASMAS in my 30s and it worked within months but new ones appeared which I am aware is due to liver dysfunction from MTHFR. I wish I could take soy milk again to rid these ugly xanthelasmas again like I did decades ago.
