IL Makiage Foundation is probably one of the most reviewed foundations of all time. Woke Up Like This Foundation has over 775,000 and After Party Foundation has over 55,000 reviews.
From far away, IL MAKIAGE Woke Up Like This Foundation looks great. But, as I really looked up close, I noticed immediate cracking and creasing in areas that don’t usually have this problem. It accentuates any bit of texture from dryness to spots, and does settle into fine lines. The formula never really becomes one with the skin, but instead just sits on top.
IL MAKIAGE After Party Foundation formula blends relatively easy, but it is best to work quickly and it melts into skin easier with a brush versus a sponge. A little bit goes a long way wit the formula, providing a pretty immediate full coverage. Despite its creamy formula, it does accentuate any bit of texture and bumps on the skin - and this only gets worse throughout the day as the foundation wears. While skin does look airbrushed, it is a heavy formula.

Don't do it honey...buy the Milani conceal n perfect foundation instead and for days u want it to be more wearable, half pump with a drop of oil. Ah-ma-zing!

Glad to see I am not the only person on the planet that had a negative experience with IL Makiage woke up like this foundation, being from Canada I paid almost $90 including shipping and I followed the prep instructions to the letter and it looked awful on my skin. I tired it for 7 days straight working with it all different ways primers and tools and it still looked crusty and dull. I don't understand how it has so many good reviews... thank you for your review it is exactly what happened to me! ❤😊

I bought the Woke Up like this foundation and the color match was fairly close. I use moisturizer and then NYX marshmallow primer with it and it blends well with a brush.

I came to see your review after receiving Woke Up Like This and absolutely loving it. I am so surprised to see your negative remarks and those in the comments. It was immediately my favorite foundation I’ve ever owned.
You helped me so much with this review, truly. Based on your recommendations I already have the foundations to give me a soft matte/satin finish. No need to go out and get Il Makiage, too. Even though I have dry combination skin, I love the Maybelline Matte and Poreless as well as Loreal’s 24hr Infallible.
You do such an amazing job applying makeup. You make it look so easy and natural. I wish I could do the same. And you’re just wonderful in front of the camera. Thank you so much for this video. I, too, have been tempted to buy this foundation, but I think I’m better off going to Sephora or Ulta to pick something out.
I use the il makiage woke up like this. I am mid 60 and have nrkmal to dry-ish skin. I don’t always use moisturizer. I find it a little to moist for my skin. Lasts all day and doesn’t fall apart. But it’s almost too moist-it leaves residue on my phone and glasses.
MI switched to Laura Geller baked foundation. It’s more matte, doesn’t rub off, but still feels soft and moist on my skin. It really blends well and color corrects my skin tone without feeling heavy. And still buildable!

I'm 44 and this is the only foundation that has ever worked for my aging acne skin. It has great coverage yet feels light on my skin. It isn't oily at all. One tube of after party lasts me all year.
Thank you so much for doing this review. I've been bombarded with adds for IL Makiage and the girls in the videos are just raving at how amazing it is. I was thinking that the foundation can't be that great. I actually thought about saving the money (I don't make a lot) to get this foundation but I have very textured skin (skin growths and flat "beauty marks" on the sides of my face and neck) with large pours. Not to mention my forehead is oily and the rest of my face is very dry. I have yet to find a foundation that doesn't accentuate my rough skin so I haven't used any in years. I'm glad I watched this video before spending food money lol

The After Party is more coverage and definitely better with more mature skin. My only issue is color match. I’ve tried a couple of colors and it’s not quite a match. But, I love it.

I bought this brand of foundation when it first came out. I had to send it back twice bc the color match was not correct. I wasn’t super happy with the second color-match, but it was “close enough” when I used a powder to set it.
It always felt like it was so thick on my face, and didn’t wear well throughout the day. Even after trying it with different primers & different moisturizers, I was never truly happy with it. I still use it at times, but I do mix it with other foundations in order to get the wear & coverage I want. 😊

I have the woke up like this got it a week ago and I’m actually really loving it. The shade was a perfect match. I then ordered the concealer and the primer. Haven’t tried it yet but I’m excited.

I've been using woke up like this for years. I love it because I simply hate foundation as a whole. This is like not wearing any but having this coverage. Honestly I feel like your application technique with it could be different. Overall it's an excellent product for those who don't really enjoy foundation.
I bought it and was not crazy about it. I add moisturizer to it as it dries my skin out. The brush is great!!
I actually have after party. I ended up giving it a try because I have such weird skin texture and color that finding a foundation that doesn’t look awful is difficult. The first round of foundation I got was slightly too dark. In before my next order shipped and changed the shade. It asks if the shade is too light or too dark. Then it asks if it is slightly too light or dark or majorly too light or dark and you can adjust.
OMG! Thank you for saving money for me 🙏 A few weeks ago I was yet again tempted to buy this foundation because of the countless Facebook advertising. And then I remembered that you made a review a long ago, I just wasn't able to find the video again. BUT! Then I remembered that you now have a website for make up reviews (btw congrats on that!!) and confirmed that this foundation is not as good as it seems to be. So on your recommendation I tried the estée lauder double wear I WOOW , I am in love 🥰 and here is this video making me feel even better about my choice. I'm glad you reviewed this I only wish you had before I tried it. I did not like it either. After watching your trials I gave them several tries each with and without primer and even different primers. They just didn't wear well.

Mine literally came today, the after party foundation. It was a neutral tone when I need a more pink color. It’s not wearing bad, just wish the shade wasn’t so yellow and dark.

I'm glad I found this video. I tried the Woke up like This and to me, it was way too thick and heavy. I thought maybe the After Party would be a bit lighter but definitely will not be trying it!

I really need an answer I am a natural redhead with freckles, not a few a lot everywhere that sees sun and some places that don't like my upper legs (I'm very modest so upper legs do not ever see the sun) how could I wear foundation and still look like me?
Is there a powder foundation that you would recommend? I.e. Laura Geller type.
I also am not sure what you are referring to because the shade matches. You perfectly even gives you a little bit of color and a second side actually looks the best and more covered up. I do not see any dryness at all. I seem to love it and haven’t tried it, but I love the way it went on your face.

What would you recommend for a foundation that doesn’t feel like a foundation but more of a moisturizer? I have never used foundation because of how heavy they feel on my skin, but as I get older I need some coverage without feeling cakey or heavy on my skin. Thanks!

I tried the the after party foundation, it seemed to make all my fine lines and pores show up even more. After trying to get the right shade two different times, I gave up. Good luck!
I tried Il Makiage about 2 months ago. After doing the color match quiz they still sent the wrong shade for me…way too dark. It seemed very dry, cracked and creased, oh my gosh…maybe the worst foundation I have ever tried. I’m sure it’s fine for some, but my 55 year old face is not one of them 😬 I just wanted to add that I was so excited to try this and so bummed out that it didn’t work out for me.
Did they not have the same shade range and names for everything? Like why are the shades so different?!

I ordered it and sent it right back after trying it. 1. The color was wrong, had a yellow tone. 2. Went on thick and actually emphasized any bumps or unevenness on my skin. No bueno. I got the "newer" one that came in the tube. Didn't want to have a second try. The ads made it seem as though everything on your skin would disappear, when it actually makes them look worse. I don't normally wear foundation so I was looking for something that looked natural

Infallible 24HR Fresh Wear Foundation In A Powder for a couple of years now. Saw the advertisement for Woke Up Like This and decided to give it a try despite the price. I have to say I wasn't impressed! It does get cakey in some areas even after an hour of wear. Will try applying it differently to see if I get different results. I'm still going to wear it for another week, but I do see myself returning it.
I was happy with the shade match for the Woke up Like This- but it makes my skin sooooo dry and I'm already severely dry. Using a ton of face oil and primer seemed to help... Wasn't happy for the money. I like Maybelline Fit Me Dewey finish... Better coverage for cheaper.

Does the After Party foundation have the same smell? Fragrance/chemical smell is a big issue for me.
I really disliked their foundation on my skin but they sent me a brush that I got to keep when i returned the product and that thing is 😮💨🔥

Have you tried the primer that goes with il makiage? I also find it sits in my lines very disappointed.
I stupidly bought 'woke up like this' after seeing all the good reviews, the shade tbh was great for me, BUT i definitely wouldnt say its a build able medium coverage as they advertise, id say its light coverage at best, i had to apply 10 pumps just to cover (not even fully either) my acne on my cheeks and it was very cakey and very textured especially over my acne and peach fuzz, im totally gutted
Wish I had seen this review. I bought it and I found the very same issue with the Woke Up Like This foundation. It got very patchy quickly, felt oily and coverage was very poor. Need to use alot to get the same kinda coverage as Estee Lauder Double Wear and it's the same price here in the UK.
Their customer service is great though. I'm sending it back and they have advised me that i will get money back and a voucher to use and it's free returns.
I used to use this but not anymore makes my skin patchy and even with a setting spray it gets patchy throughout the day

Wow! I can't believe how poorly BOTH foundations did. And you have GREAT SKIN!! They couldn't have found a better canvas for their products. This is the first time I remember seeing the issues without you having to point them out. The old one was breaking up before you even had the new one on! That's ridiculous for a $45 foundation. It's not the most expensive, but there are others at similar price points (Estee Lauder, Bare Minerals, et al) they are far and away much, much better.
I kept getting doublecharged and never got my money back. If you don’t stop the subscription they charge you a membership fee of $45 per month and $45 more for sending monthly refills

I have olive toned skin but I'm not dark and Il Makiage is the only foundation I've found that actually matches my skin. I don't wear makeup often but when I do, this is the one...
Same issue I have other foundations don't match almost to yellow for my skin tone.
Can you list the other foundations you recommend at the end in the description?

When did makeup get so complicated? I havent worn it for a few years,but these ads keep popping up on my FB feed. I always check “independent” reviews,but I’m so wary-everyone’s skin is different and what works for someone else might not work for me. I think I’m gonna check in at Sephora or Ulta and try what they suggest.
Before applying any foundation I usually wet my brush a little bit and moisturize my face or add primer. (Not saying she didn’t add primer) but if not, It helps if your skin if its super dry and you’re putting on makeup. Just a suggestion
