Just goes to show everyone can do this I'm 82 with mostly gray hair but quite thin my hair came to my shoulder blades but I did it and it looks and feels realy good and makes me feel younger. Thank you for showing us how to cut it and you explain real well
I have a feeling that you are brave and beautiful. The Bold and The Beautiful. My mother is in nursing home and I cut her hair. She has decided to let her hair grow and not want those perms she had all her life. She does not look like mother with that long hair. But thanks to the disease dimentia or however you spell it she knows no better. I hope you are happy and healthy and I love your comment💜🦋
Just did this…. Was absolutely shocked at end results to see I didn’t mess up my hair at all…. Totally works. My mid back length hair HAS LIFE AGAIN….. don’t be afraid with cutting those pony tips off!! I barely lost any length, like maybe an inch at most (but that’s okay because I wanted the dead ends off) and achieved layers and volume and movement 💯 recommend. THANKYOUUUU!
I can absolutely confirm this. I had dead ends all over my middle section and now it is so soft and shiny and my hair is still looooong. Thank youuuu!!!! ❤️
I used this hair cutting technique from this video after choosing this video out of dozens on TH-cam over several weeks. And let me tell you... This is the BEST & ONLY good haircut I've had in my entire life and I'm 50 ! I've gone to Aveda Concept Salon in Beverly Hills for 20 years for my root touch up color which is a job well done for only $78 each visit . But nobody ever cut my hair right and they charge $80 & up. I followed each step of this video even screenshotting the placement of the sectioning/ ponytails. This is the only thorough video with simple instructions and my haircut turned out polished, adorable, clean.... Leaving length in the right places. I did my fringe/ bangs EXACTLY as shown & it blends perfectly into the hair, not looking like bangs at all. Just like the mannequin! I look awful with bangs but this fringe is not bangs at all . When I went out in to the town after this haircut, I got attention & compliments! I'm SO glad I didn't jump the gun & go with another video & channel. THANK YOU FOR YOUR EXPERTISE AND FOR THIS EASY TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO, IM NEVER WASTING MONEY ON A SHITTY SALON CUT AGAIN !
Having done nothing but a trim to my hair for in excess of 8yrs, I was extremely worried about trying something new but I am overjoyed that I did! I cautiously went through comments and read that it works time and time again so I took the plunge and I LOVE IT! Looks exactly how I wanted and falls beautifully 💁🏻♀️ My hair looks thick and it hardly took any length off which is perfect. The only thing I will say I did differently was the fringe at the front because I wanted more of a face frame than a grown out fringe so I cut as directed but instead of using my nose as a guide, I took it below my chin. You would think I had been the hairdressers, it's just that good! This vid deserves MILLIONS of views because IT WORKS! Thank you so so much 🥰
i can confirm alongside all of these positive comments - i’d just tried cutting my hair and ended up with some questionable layers 😅 and i found this video and thanks to all the comments i decided to give it a try - i love it!!! so voluminous and totally saved my mistakes from earlier. thank you!!!
Used this method to cut my hair and it turned out perfect! Oh, the only thing I did different was I didn't add the bangs, so I just gathered all that hair up with the first ponytail. The thing that took the longest was definitely sectioning my hair, and making that first cut lol. But this cut is great with my slightly wavy hair.
Did this to my really long and thick hair, took a while to section it off, but I actually don’t hate it! Started getting really nervous halfway through but I actually kept my length and now I have layers throughout! Definitely good for an at home haircut. Thanks for the video!
I had a failed wolf cut, and with this video, I could fix my hair. Im pregnant and dont trust hairdressers with my hair. It looks awesome now. Thank you so much. ❤
oh my gosh I kind of rushed into cutting my hair after watching this video but i’m so happy i did it. was worried i messed it up because it looked very choppy but then i washed it and it looks AMAZING!!!! I have thick long hair so it was tricky to hold and cut but it turned out so good in the end! definitely recommend
THANK YOU! I’m on a budget and just couldn’t justify spending $85 at the salon for a haircut when I have bills to pay lol I just cut my hair today and I was shocked at how I didn’t ruin my haircut! Thank you for providing such helpful videos that make it easy for us to do at home. ☺️
This worked great! I already had bangs, so that part was done. Sectioning it wasn't easy, and my hair is as long as I can reach, so that was a challenge, but I'm satisfied. I won't go to a hairdresser anymore because 95% of my haircuts have not been what I wanted, or just weren't done right. I've tried a lot of different methods, and I think this is def my new fav. Thank you! ☺️
I was scared to try it, but it works! I read in one comment that someone wanted face framing vs bangs, so they did the last step at chin length instead of cheekbone length. I did the same (cutting with a center part) and then parted my hair on the side to style. Looks great!
This was so easy to follow and omg did it come out beautiful! My bangs are so nice and I didn’t butcher anything. I was so scared of doing it at home but didn’t want to pay for the salon to overcharge me and not give me the results I wanted. So happy I found this video!
So my thick wavy (2b) hair has a natural stubborn side part - tried this cut & it worked beautifully BUT I had to go back & slide cut/blend more one side to balance out the layers. PLEASE do the same cut showing model with a side part. THANK YOU
I am so excited that, I have this video of yours, Paul. I have extremely long hair, down past my waist. I would not do anything with it until, I seen you come out with something that would put life back into my hair. There will be 5 inches or so coming off, and I could not be more confident in myself. Thank You Paul❣️
You make it look so easy. I have long hair, and have been to two stylist that still havent cut it like this. So im doing it myself. This looks doable!! Ty
Yeah me too! I haven't had a haircut since 2015 and my hair was waist length and I was so afraid to go to a salon because I was worried they would cut off way too much so I followed this tutorial and I love it!
This one worked perfectly with my 3C hair. I already had bangs and I didn't pull any up past the occipital and it looks fantastic. I just spent over a hundred getting my hair cut last month and had dog ears on both sides of my head. I was doing my best to start growing them out. The back looked amazing and well face it you can't walk into every room backwards. The front and sides were horrible. Thank you for this one. Dog ears gone.
I decided I wanted to cut my hair on a whim last night, watched this video, and was able to achieve the perfect lil wolf cut/shag with this! Super easy to follow, and I'm VERY pleased with the results. A friend told me, "you've had a lot of great hair cuts, but I don't think it's ever looked this good".
That part!!! I searched and found this video all so I could avoid the two pony tail method. I'm so confident and convinced that this is going to work that I'm planning to cut my hair tomorrow. I'm so excited and feel really good about this. So happy it has worked out beautifully for you and everyone else here that has tried it! Makes me genuinely grateful and happy for this small joy/win for everyone. 🖤🖤🖤
This works AMAZING! I had VERY long thick hair. It was down to my tailbone and hasn't been trimmed in almost a year. I sectioned it off just as shown in the video and to my amazement it came out BEAUTIFUL! I cannot wait to style it before work tomorrow morning! THANK YOU!!!❤❤🎉🎉
OMG, I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your tutorials. The cool thing is that I still continue to support my hair stylists with things I cannot do such as certain updos, definitely color, or just let them go crazy because my hair grows like a week. However, when I have asked for this cut so many times, for some reason unbeknownst to me, I never get what I want. EVER. Thank you so much! I'm about to go home and do this. I will update later!. Love from California
Paul, I'm coming home from a holiday where my hair had a ROUGH time, and I'm trying this. It better work 😂 because my hair is soooo difficult to handle 😢
@@sophiacromwell8017 Don't be! It's just hair, it grows right back. Just cut a little bit, don't cut too much, use sharp scissors and you'll be fine. I did this haircut 5 days ago and I LOVE IT. I have low porosity coarse hair, with 2B-2C waves and this haircut is perfect for me. What kind of hair do you have?
@@CristinaB228 Thanks for the encouragement! I have fine hair that’s always been “mostly straight” but as the grey hair has come - they are more course and wavy, so I’ve been trying to manage the “combo” (& keep the frizz down!) by using the curly girl method. I think I’m about 50% grey now and on wash day am around 2C, but by day three, am 2A.
@@sophiacromwell8017 Then, I think this haircut would look good on you, just remember to cut a little bit at a time. And don't rush it. Oh, and let your hair "get used to" the haircut. I've really noticed that a new haircut starts looking better after a week or two. Give it time and may the hair gods be with you! 😂🩷
No me imaginé que. Quedaría tan lindo... Sin duda el mejor corte de cabello que he conseguido haciendolo yo misma en casa.. muchísimas gracias por compartir sus técnicas y aprendizajes con nosotros. Bendiciones 🙏. Me encanto 😍

This is soooo helpful for me!! I am unable to go to the salon to get my hair done. Due, to being stuck in a wheelchair for almost 2 years and now I'm recovering from 2 leg surgeries. So, I need to cut my hair, which I've done since I was 13, and this is the type of hairstyle I want. Can I still do this on wavy hair? This is a wonderful guide for me to follow! Thank you so very much, Paul!! You're the best!! ❤️
I just did this and it's my favorite haircut job I've ever had. I have a 3 year old and it's too insanely hard to find someone available with my schedule where I live to cut my hair the way I want it. This saves me loads of time and money. I'll probably never not cut my own hair from now on.
Perfect, thank you! I was trying to figure out how to cut my own hair because it was waist-length and in need of a cut. It was still pretty hard to cut it with how long it was, but I managed. Make sure, if you want smooth layers after, to hand section and smooth the layers, otherwise, you will get a choppier look. I parted my front into 2 sections to cut long face framing bangs.
I used this to cut my own hair for the very first time. I was real skeptical about the ponytail thing but I decided to go for it, I have long hair so I figured if I didn’t take off more that 2 inches there’s room to fix it 😆. But it turned out great! I wish I could attach pictures here. It was exactly what I wanted.
Same!!! My hair was so long I couldn’t reach the ends of it while holding so I had to go shorter lol. But it still looks long and has texture now. I love it!
Oh my God this is the best video ever this is exactly what I was looking for in a haircut and I've been looking at hundreds of videos and your video is still exact one that describes the kind of haircut I want thank you so much for showing us how to put layers and do bangs
I went for a protein treatment and my girl, Andrea at planet sol said I knew what I was doing concerning my layering. Haah. Thanks to you. Appreciate it n she doesn’t lie.
So glad I found your channel. I don't trust salons anymore after the numerous times I've gone with very long hair and had them chop and destroy it, despite being very clear in my communication, realistic expectations, full cooperation, providing pictures from other stylists' portfolios, etc. Even the simple cuts, such as asking for just a trim of the dead ends have ended poorly. I've scoured the internet looking for a guide to do my cuts at home myself. Despite my love of the wolf cut, it's just not my style for my face shape (and I just can't part with the length or give myself bangs/fringe - which looks pretty bad on me). This cut meets all my wishes in one: I can do this myself at home without stuffing it up, I can keep my length and lose the dead/split ends, and I can add long, subtle layers that look decent. I've always been so scared of screwing it up and having to get it fixed just to have it stuffed up further at a salon and losing two to three times the length by the end of the ordeal. However, this tutorial gives me hope and confidence that I can actually achieve my hair goals at home, by myself with the right education from a professional (not second hand, or via TikTok and/or influencers that may not know wtf they're talking about - as is usually the case). My rambling aside, I'm so grateful for your videos and education. Thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to teach us how to do this the right way. I instantly subscribed and plan to watch all of your videos to learn as much as I can. Also, I'm pretty crap at styling and blow-drying my hair and would love to learn from you, if you have the chance or don't already have videos up that I just haven't seen yet. Either way, I'm grateful. I'll be a sub for the long haul and can't wait to cut my hair like this tomorrow after the 8-5 grind. (I'll just keep the bangs section tied into the front section pony tail so they are even with that section to skip on the bangs entirely. Hope that works out. Lol) Thanks again!!! 🖤🖤🖤
Yay!!!! The way you explain it & show us makes so much sense that it took the fear out of giving it a go… so I just cut my hair & It seriously looks amazing!!! I’m so thrilled with this! 🎉 Thank you so much for your videos. Please don’t stop!!!
Came across one of your videos, then this, got my scissors and in minutes my 'do had a new look! I love your ponytail techniques! Subscribing for sure. :)
Amazing.. so easy yet makes such a difference! I have very long hair and always have it up in a bun. I started to notice I was losing hair from it always being up so I did a quick cut. Now have some layers and more volume and want to wear it down. Any advice on how to grow back that hair? Mostly on top and in the middle of the head where my bun would be.
This worked SO well!!! I already had given myself long layers but this made it look so much better!! It was very satisfying pulling out the ponytails lol
I like this technique. But I guess I have to much hair, my ponytails were so thick I had to chop through them like a bushman through the djungle :D .. Now it looks a bit too harsh, not so soft transitions, but thanks to my wavy hair it disappears. I will still do some fine tuning then it will look great. It works well to get layers on a budget. Thank you for taking the time to share this!
Yeah that’s what I’m afraid of :( I have super thick straight hair and I don’t want to have stairs in my hair lol but also my hair is boring rn and I can’t go to a hairdresser so Idk. Did u end finding a way to make it work?
@@LS-vq2or yes, I just recently did his "how to cut voluminous layers in 2024" or something where you just make one ponytail on the head but not the one forward but upwards.. and after cutting I still let it in the ponytail and just took smaller sections and took my thinning scissors and cut the ends with them to make the ends look more soft not harsh cut.. I was pleased with the result :) and way easier than making 3 ponytails, creating the sections is the most time consuming part for me so I appreciated the 1 ponytail version 😂 Wish you good success with whatever hair cut you choose 🙌 P.s. I have wavy hair so it's quite forgiving when not everything is perfect. But in the end... hair grows back, it can be fun to experiment and gain knowledge of what works best for you 😄

This legit gave me really soft blended layers!
Iv been a hairdresser for years and love all your videos
It really works, i did it myself, i love it! Thanks 🤗
I went for a protein treatment and my girl, Andrea at planet sol said I knew what I was doing concerning my layering. Haah. Thanks to you. Appreciate it n she doesn’t lie.
When you shook that head I literally laughed right out 🤣🤣🤣
I have thick and frizzy hair and this method really worked on me. Thanks
Thank you. ☺️ Nervous about trying this because I have long thin hair, andI want to keep as much of the length as possible! 💪😎💓
GREAT VIDEO! PROBABLY THE BEST LAYERING VIDEO IVE WATCHED!👏
Thank you so much for this haircut. It's a big success 😉 . Please show long layers for long hair.
2024. Just did this after watching the video. Came out AMAZING!! Will be doing again.
Well done I’m gonna try it. Thank you
So glad I found your channel.
This is such a timeless haircut 😍
such a beautilful cut and so easy! thank you
Yay!!!! The way you explain it & show us makes so much sense that it took the fear out of giving it a go… so I just cut my hair & It seriously looks amazing!!! I’m so thrilled with this! 🎉
Thank you so much for your videos. Please don’t stop!!!
Amazing!!! My hair feels lighter but with so much volume and texture. I love it. Thank you ❤

This is fabulous, I love the style. Thanks for sharing, it’s the best and easiest home hair cut I’ve seen.
¡Gracias!
Amazing.. so easy yet makes such a difference! I have very long hair and always have it up in a bun. I started to notice I was losing hair from it always being up so I did a quick cut. Now have some layers and more volume and want to wear it down. Any advice on how to grow back that hair? Mostly on top and in the middle of the head where my bun would be.
Just did this and it turned out awesome!! ❤
My hair looks amazing with this method! Thank you!

Thank you!! Instead of bangs i section my hair into 4 and it turn out so nice!! No more paying someone else to cut my hair!!!
Thanks Paul....a hell of a lot more simple than all the sections! Plus, a little dance to go with...can't beat that🤗
Good explanation matey👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks mate. 🤟
Omg thank you this is everything can you show how you curled/styled the hair like your technique pleaseeeeee🥰
This worked SO well!!! I already had given myself long layers but this made it look so much better!! It was very satisfying pulling out the ponytails lol
So helpful!! Thank you 🙏 love all the movement at the end.
Imma try this next week.
I'm obst I love it simple but good out come tanks
Práctico y muy bonito 😉👏 excelente tutorial 🤗💝
Wow, love this technique
Love this video 😊 Big help💪🏻 thank you so much ❤️
I like this technique.
I was pleased with the result :) and way easier than making 3 ponytails, creating the sections is the most time consuming part for me so I appreciated the 1 ponytail version 😂
Wish you good success with whatever hair cut you choose 🙌
P.s. I have wavy hair so it's quite forgiving when not everything is perfect. But in the end... hair grows back, it can be fun to experiment and gain knowledge of what works best for you 😄
What’s the different in outcome from two ponies vs. Three???
