I feel like scenecore is like, the modern equivalent of scene. It still has some aspects of the original scene, including things like kandi and dark makeup, but everything else is just extra eyestrain + hyperpop music. I myself am scene, but I’m not super into “scenecore”!
Can we please acknowledge that not everyone is able to have the traditional parted bangs / "scene hair". I'm seeing alot of people talking about the hairstyle being significant. Some people with naturally curly or afro hair might chose not to straighten it, and excessive straightening is damaging to hair. I don't think a someone has to have a specific hair style to fit into an aesthetic
yeah i agree with this bc i used to not be able to have scene hair, although i do have scene hair now, i used to have the whole look except the hair. hair is a big part of it tho
i cant have the parted bangs because my hair is too short (i buzzed it last summer and have been growing it out) i've seen some really cute short scene hairstyles though, theyre just not as recognizable/iconic as the parted bangs. i see people with dark, fluffy, short hair, and they put coontail extensions in their sideburns, i think its so cute!

Honestly, I love both. I like the look of scenecore but would kill for real scene hair, knee high converse, and stuff like that. (also I think people tend to forget that kandi isn't just a scene exclusive thing... its also the rave scene and I heard it's becoming popular with Decora and some other fashion subcultures too.)
@i luv dinozz uh no. theres a difference. if you have scene hair and have the style then ur scene. so if someone has scene hair and also likes scenecore stuff, they could be both. but then again the scenecore style is having no scene hair and checkerboard rainbow danganronpa shit.
@i luv dinozz literally all of that is scene besides “black egirl clothes” so probably scene. idk what point ur trying to make tbh egirl has nothing to do with anything in this video but now i’ll probably make a different video explaining each subculture tbh
ok i agree but ur low key gatekeeping. i’m a scene kid, i hate hyperpop sm and a lot of scenecore stuff in general, but this video is srsly calling a whole lotta things scenecore. like i’m a minor, i’m not allowed to dye my hair and get my own haircut that’ll actually look scene, but that doesn’t make me scenecore, i wear kandi & extensions and makeup n shit
u dont need to have the scene haircut to be scene, u dont need to dye ur hair either. its completely fine if u go with wtv haircut u got and natural hair. and u have extensions? that's really good as well. scene haircuts are a stable item in scene outfits, but you don't necessarily need one
I guess I was a mix of the 2 when I was younger. I had the aesthetic of scenecore since I'm black and had box braids and wasn't allowed to do much with my hair or style, but I definitely listened to scene music.
you dont exactly need the straight scene hair! something that was never really seen in the style was that some of the ppl who werent as well known style their natural hair however they want! straights bangs w curly or braided hair, curly hair styled to look a bit more like the straight hairstyle etc!
Holy fuck, thank you so much I'm so sick and tired of these people thinking that they're scene just because they like an aesthetic. They don't care about the music, fashion, or culture and I find it super rude and insulting. Hopefully more people see this
*ily for making this. This how I feel when people think emo is an actual fashion or lifestyle when it's just a type of music and when people call anything with emotional screaming in it screamo or emo*
i always preferred scene over scenecore, i prefer fun and inviting community with bright fashion and invader zim nostalgia over the people scenecore people that will call you a poser for not liking monster energy drinks. dont even get me started about how they always add danganronpa in their edits, it makes me mad idk why :V i guess it's funnier because i'm mostly just emo lol (maybe a bit scenemo?) but i really got into scene culture because it had such and appealing look :D
I can say that as a sceneCORE person, this was a rly good video to seperate the two! I love both how you edited the video and the examples you used to seperate the two styles!!
i shouldve explained this in the video, but i don’t think you can be a scenecore person. scenecore isn’t a look or music subculture, and when i do see “scenecore” people, they don’t have a particular style, they just wear kandi and believe they are scenecore. it’s also not a music thing either, they mainly listen to hyperpop, which i don’t believe belongs to any subculture or anything like that. so yeah. if u think ur a scenecore person pls lmk why and what ur interpretation of a scenecore person is because i see it as just a visual thing because, scenecore is partly inspired by glitchcore, and you can’t be a glitchcore person either. glitchcore and scenecore are both just picture edits to me. btw if u have any questions or video suggestions lmk :3 EDIT: THE SONG IS YOUNG FOREVER BY THE READY SET NIGHTCORE STOP ASKING ITS LITERALLY IN THE DESC
I think the idea of scenecore is a look/aesthetic *inspired* by the original scene subculture. The whole idea of -core is that the aesthetic takes inspiration from whatever is the prefix. If someone says their style is scenecore, I'd like to think that they know that it's a scene inspired aesthetic, rather than the subculture itself. It's like people who say their aesthetic is cottagecore, they don't need to live in an actual cottage, but their style is inspired by rural living and nature. I do understand the anger though, scenecore is not really a subculture like some people make it out to be, it's an aesthetic, inspired by the very real subculture.
@@Maebytheway i love how you’re telling me this when i’ve specified that scenecore is literally just something you look at. it’s not even a “look” because theres no look/style, it’s just pictures. i made this video for people who think scene is scenecore when its nothing of the sort.
@@seikoshinohara4ever In the video you show two pictures of 'scenecore people' because of the clothes they are wearing. That's what a 'look' is. I'm not saying that scenecore is anything more than an aesthetic, but that means (as shown in this video) there is music, clothes and iconography associated with it. It's not 'just pictures', you literally have examples of scenecore music and fashion in this video. I am aware of the difference between scene and scenecore, I'm just sick of people gatekeeping fashion and music when people aren't even trying to be 'scene', theyre just enjoying things associated with the subculture.
@@Maebytheway No not exactly. I showed what people who call themselves scenecore look like, which isn’t really scenecore anyways because it’s literally JUST wearing kandi and emo clothes which is JUST wearing kandi and emo clothes. I showed hyperpop music and hyperpop is not even scene or scenecore, I used hyperpop as an example of scenecore music because scenecore people make playlists with that music. hyperpop is hyperpop and it doesn’t belong to any music based subculture that i’m aware of, it’s just a mix of different genres. Scenecore is nothing but something you look at because there’s no style. People who call themself scenecore just wear kandi and put “scenecore” stuff over their photos. I’m a real authentic scene kid and other scene kids I’ve talked to also agree, so it’s not really “gatekeeping” it’s just being annoyed by people taking our style out of context and associating it with bullshit
To me "scenecore" is a less harsh way of saying poser, and that's that. I don't mean to "gatekeep" but people who have no clue about scene subculture yet associate completely unrelated things with it and label themselves "scene" or "scenecore" pretty much just flat out means they are posers and I'm not sorry for saying so. tbh idc about this danganronpa kandi demonia "aesthetic" as long as you don't call it smth it is not. rawring 20s was about reviving original SCENE not creating "scenecore". Like plz go give your glitchass "aesthetic" another name
I’m emo (slightly scene). What I listen to: Fall Out Boy My Chemical Romance Pierce The Veil Sleeping With Sirens Bring Me The Horizon Asking Alexandria Set It Off Her Bright Skies Avenged Sevenfold Blink-182 Breaking Benjamin Bullet For My Valentine A Day To Remember Waterparks The Ready Set Slipknot Three Days Grace Boys Like Girls Avril Lavigne All Time Low Johnnie Guilbert 5 Seconds Of Summer Skillet Till Death Do We Part Anna Blue Damian Dawn Hawthorne Heights From First To Last (Will try to get into more bands) What I wear: Skinny jeans Studded belts SeatBelt belts Mostly band tees Skirts with leggings sometimes Vans Platforms Kandi bracelets Rubber bracelets that mostly have band names on them Studded bracelets Chokers Hair Bows And of course, I’ll be doing the scene/emo hair
Ahhhh tysm for this! Not to mention the fact that scenecore was originally a term refering to scene music, I’m a little bit pissed off to see this become an "alt fashion" thing :’)
Honestly idk how kids thought that danganronpa is in any way related to scene. I personally am scene and like scenecore. (I don’t have scene clothes 😭)
scene isn't just pop punk though right? I was pretty young when being scene was big but I remember ppl listening to EDM, dubstep, rave music and even some regular pop songs if they were sexy enough were considered scene.
i like a mix of both, leaning towards the fashion of scenecore. but i also like alot of emo/scene music. i feel like as long as you like the music, scenecore is more of an evolution of scene and not a "ripoff"
_The editing is everything! I’m not a millennial and I wasn’t 13 around the time that scene was popular but as a young kid I grew up scene and seeing these differences makes me understand. I don’t think there’s any problem within wanting to take part of a community as long as you actually try to understand the community (just because it’s your fashion sense doesn’t mean it’s ur whole life !!!! You can have any fashion sense no matter what at any time!) it’s like going into a gay parade and asking why everyone is yelling gay rights 😭😭_ _Im not on my scenecore acc just my normal one but tysm_
scenecore is more tiktok alt than scene tbh i want to change my aesthetic to scene and make sure i DONT end up as a scenecore person. ;-; i don’t know where to buy the clothing and accessories- can someone drop some suggestions? also have an afro so i can never do the scene hair D:
finally somebody said it!! i really hate trying to look up "scene" and all i find is danganrompa rainbow edits. also, i listen to like the original scene songs and bands (millionares, pretty rave girl, etc) so does that mean i'm scene? i really want to be a scene kid, but idk if my parents would let me get the hair :(
What’s wrong with glitchcore kids tho- Also I don’t think we should gatekeep our clothing style from them. I think it starts to be a problem when they think hyper pop is scene. I also don’t think we should be shaming them for listening to hyper pop.
lmao i literally listen to some hyperpop myself bur i dont think its scene so.. where did i shame them?? and it becomes a problem when people are wearing clothing that is not scene yet they call it scene.
god, couldnt agree more..! it is so difficult being scene+emo in tha modern day.... i search scene or emo literaly anywhere all the results are my melody danganronpa swaggy alt froggy poggers bunnyhat it is so exausting and on top of that most "scenecore" people will make fun of actual scene peopel, like "Oh so emo brocken rawr XD" liek leave me alone let me live mah life...... O_o
i myself am cutecore / webcore, i love watching or learning about diffrent aesthetics. by far i think scene is better, i think scenecore is like goth or alternative but with a splash of rainbow, pokemon and quirkiness. :>
lmao, I’m late but, to be honest i personally really like both, music wise i mean, both styles of music are pretty catchy to me, but fashion wise i personally go more with emo or scene stuff lol, i do agree there is a major difference since I’ve been around this stuff since I’d say about early/mid 2010s?, i do mostly listen to OG stuff but i do occasionally vibe to hyperpop or ‘scenecore’ :)
To simplify scenecore is music adjacent to cloud rap and emo rap type of music. To your lil peep, yunggoth, GBC, Astari rappers, bladee, Yung lean, nosgov. Those are artists part of the various cloud rap/pc genres that e kids tend to like. E culture is rooted in rap and scene culture is rooted in rock, e culture is a thing from TikTok, scene dominated myspace. The aesthetic although Is damn near the same, the music is adjacent, and that's bc e culture is the current big alt subculture spawned from SoundCloud rap and certain eerie TikTok sounds/songs that also had an influence on it. Then when the rawring 20s hit, this nu scene shit made popularity in Astari (a big cloud rap channel). SoundCloud rappers got inspired by the scene subculture they witnessed but barely got to experience, especially now that scene is more relevant. Brokencyde, dot dot curve, millionaires, etc. walked so astari rappers, peep, GBC, draingang could run. Although it's culturally more in alignment with the e subculture, I just call this nu scene or sum
I’m still having trouble trying to figure out if I’m scene or scenecore, but seeing this video helped me a lot! Edit: I decided 2 ditch the scenecore shit bc I just realized that I was a poser O_o I'm looking forward 2 listen to scene music, clothing, or the subculture in general >_< (I'm still learning 2 abrivi8 my wordz T_T)
If you listen to both, it all comes down to how you dress and how your hair is/what you're planning to get. but even if u get scene hair but dress scenecore you're more of a scenecore person tbh
As someone who wants to be part of the scene subculture this helped me a lot, its obvious the difference but its still helpful :) hopefully my parents will let me be scene one day
1:16 this is where I think you're wrong. MSI is scene, the music and band formed in 1999 to 2015. I understand that songs like Shut me Up and Fggot are popular amongst the Scenecore community, however, their songs like "youll rebel to anything" and "prom" are VERY MUCH scene. Its sorta in the middle when it comes to the genre since its electropunk but Id say artists like 6arelyhuman and 100 gecs are scenecore and MSI is scene edit: also sorry if i come off as defensive. I hve been an msi superfan since i was like 10 so 💀
i literally was not referring to msi. i included that picture because everything else in that picture specifically the outfit and danganronpa was not scene. i was going to stop replying to comments on this video from ppl who try to argue because i made this video 2 years ago and this style is now referred to as "alt 2020" instead of scenecore so idrk why ppl still try to argue with me, im only replying to this comment because you mistook this as me directly saying msi was not scene even tho i didnt even notice the msi logo until u pointed it out. i think msi is scene definitely and i agree that 6arelyhuman is now what scenecore is. the new scenecore i prefer way more than the "scenecore" from 2020 but i still think authentic scene tops it all. and sorry for rambling abt this im just frustrated that ppl still keep coming in and missing my entire point just to argue about a minor detail in the video or argue about other stuff.
I think scenecore is literally more of an asthetic and an over exaggerated version of scene with a hint of glitchcore. Me personally I love scenecore I think it’s rlly interesting I’m mostly scene but I’m also scenecore. ^^
Thanx for the info! One thing I'd like to explain are some of my interests (Read below) I'm a big fan of scene culture, mainly cuz it's nostalgic and it's a peaceful community, and I'm also into a bit of webcore My interests involving those times: Diary of a Wimpy Kid Homestar Runner Total Drama Island Aqua Teen Hunger Force Scribblenauts Super Meat Boy Home Movies (from [as]) NCircle Enterntainment's old shows (from the late 2000's to early 2010's) LittleBigPlanet Happy Monster Band And the music I listen to: Some music on some scene (not the hyperpop) playlists The music featured in the DOAWK movies (Forever the Sickest Kids, etc.) Tally Hall Eiffel 65 Maroon 5 Renard Basshunter And lots more, but I can't fit em all here Does all that make me scene?
for me 'scenecore' is just 'alt 2020' nothing more and nothing less (I'm scene and I like that look a little bit, like maybe 5/10 not bad but not good, the worst is olny that cringe part of it or fact they're often sm00king and calling theselfs 'scene' )
I’m kind of a mix of both but I mostly listen too scene songs instead of much glitchcore and stuff like that it was until glitchcore got popular when I started listening to it more but I stopped and listen to metal it’s honestly a whole chaotic cycle because after all that I see how ppl can confuse the 2
I'm trying to become scene. I have the long (off-brand) converse, studded belts, edgy band shirts, striped and fishnet fingerless gloves, I don't have the hair because I impulsively shaved it off a few months ago so I need to grow it out :D (oh I also just got into making kandi last weekend =3)
although this is definitely true, and theres a difference between these, we shouldn't be getting mad at every single person who says they're "scenecore" because most people don't know the difference and are just misguided by tiktoks. we need to understand that not everyone saying they're scenecore has malicious intent. and while scene and scenecore are different styles and such, scenecore is similar to scene in the ways that it's influenced by 2000's styles and media. once again, they're different things, but scenecore is inspired by scene. so rather than being annoyed, and angry at thoe who consider themselves scenecore, why don't you just calmly tell theme the difference, and let them live their lives? as someone who has outfits that are inspired, or just are the styles, of scene and scenecore, the amount of hate i get from elder scene people is insane. elder scene people should be able to recognize that scenecore is a style inspired by scene, and that they should be happy that their style has rubbed off a bit onto younger people. although scenecore people do need to give credit where it is due towards scene people, we should still let them dress the way they want, and if it's really that big of a problem that they use the name scenecore, help some people find new names to call their style. it's not that hard to be kind and understanding to people.
@@seikoshinohara4ever I do care abt my hair alot [i'm a guy btw] I listen to any music, sometimes rock, sometimes old emo songs, sometimes just straight up rap shit lel
oh my god thank you so much its kinda dumb that people actually need to tell people the difference but i agree like the glitchcore scenecore shit is not the same as scene THXFOR MAKING THIS OMG
man just let people be what they want it aint harming anyone 😭 also when did aesthetics become a thing that we had to gatekeep?? like all in all its just looking a certain way, it doesnt really matter in the big picture :||
it’s literally not even gatekeeping XD its telling the difference between 2 things. thats like going on a video of ppl explaining the difference between emo and goth and saying thats gatekeeping.
@@seikoshinohara4ever you literally just missed the whole point of my comment??? literally taking the time to make a video about how "UR NOT SCENE IF U DO THIS!!!" is just stupid. let people be what they wanna be, not everything has to have a label
I agree with everything besides “scenecore person” vrs “scene person” in terms of looks. Those people would pass as scene if it weren’t for the hair. I’m a scene kid who has curly/wavy hair. I do have the scene haircut and i do straighten it. The problem is that it does a lot of damage having to straighten it all the time. Not all people are willing to do their hair for hours and damage it every single day, and that’s fine.
The song you played was so refreshing. I tried to get into modern scenecore music out of nostalgia for my teen days. I couldn’t. 90% of it sounded exactly the same.
Im so happy to see most of these comments aren't talking badly about the others and pointing out similarities but seeing the differences between the aesthetics identity etc
Thank you!! One day I googled for scenecore just to get some information about it and saw some 2010 scene pictures ;-; and this video also helped me alot to get some informations about scenecore... and I saw that you like rpg maker horror games.. you have good taste ^^ that was a long comment 0.0
Personally, I call myself scenecore because I'm in a sort of in between phase between scene and just like, regular tiktok alt. I also want to pick up a rave sorta look and music taste. It's just a good descriptor for my fashion and music tastes (I'm kinda all over the place when it comes to music, I like glitchcore, edm, hyperpop, emo, pop punk, even some just regular pop music (Ik, I'm weird)) I really want to be actually scene but it takes a little while to completely overhaul your aesthetic. And yes, I know it's about music taste too, but I've always listened to a lot of emo and pop punk. So yeah, that's what I think about scenecore. I don't think it's a problematic thing, I think it's just the aesthetic version of scene culture.
Sorry for posting another comment, but am I scene? I think I’m scene. When I go out, I have black hair, I put on hair extensions, style my hair up to a 2000s emo hairstyle, and I put on lipstick, some blush, and 2000s emo eye makeup. For those hating on Scenecore, I completely understand. It's not scene, that's for sure. Although, times change and we, unfortunately, have to accept new vocabulary and things. As long as we understand the difference and properly educate those around us about scene vs scenecore is, we can (hopefully) co-exist. I love scene and scenecore equally. Scene is a great style and scenecore is a cool aesthetic. However, let's not bicker about things like this and keep to our respective groups.
idk, i'd love to just wear whatever i want without needing this or that to be classified as scene or scenecore, since the whole point of this is expressing ourselves and meet ppl
im like a subtle mix between both. Im getting them confused a lot as im slightly new to the style (slightly new because i used to wanna dress like this when i was a little younger) so this is really useful.

ok i agree but ur low key gatekeeping. i’m a scene kid, i hate hyperpop sm and a lot of scenecore stuff in general, but this video is srsly calling a whole lotta things scenecore. like i’m a minor, i’m not allowed to dye my hair and get my own haircut that’ll actually look scene, but that doesn’t make me scenecore, i wear kandi & extensions and makeup n shit
u dont need to have the scene haircut to be scene, u dont need to dye ur hair either. its completely fine if u go with wtv haircut u got and natural hair. and u have extensions? that's really good as well. scene haircuts are a stable item in scene outfits, but you don't necessarily need one
Holy fuck, thank you so much
I'm so sick and tired of these people thinking that they're scene just because they like an aesthetic. They don't care about the music, fashion, or culture and I find it super rude and insulting. Hopefully more people see this
tbh i dont think its insulting its just reeeaaalllyyy annoying and bothersome
*ily for making this. This how I feel when people think emo is an actual fashion or lifestyle when it's just a type of music and when people call anything with emotional screaming in it screamo or emo*
Nah bc people just want to add ‘core’ to the end of everything to make it aesthetic. Soon enough couchcore will be a thing.
facts
love ur pfp btw idk who it is but theyre cute
@@seikoshinohara4ever thanks :D
i always preferred scene over scenecore, i prefer fun and inviting community with bright fashion and invader zim nostalgia over the people scenecore people that will call you a poser for not liking monster energy drinks. dont even get me started about how they always add danganronpa in their edits, it makes me mad idk why :V
i guess it's funnier because i'm mostly just emo lol (maybe a bit scenemo?) but i really got into scene culture because it had such and appealing look :D
I can say that as a sceneCORE person, this was a rly good video to seperate the two! I love both how you edited the video and the examples you used to seperate the two styles!!
Ugh! Thx for explaining this! I’m done seeing dangaronpa glichcore edits when I’m trying to look up scene outfits!!
I love the ready set! Also yeah, when I tell ppl that I like scene they think that I mean scenecore and it's a little annoying
Exactly scenecore and scene are totally different
i shouldve explained this in the video, but i don’t think you can be a scenecore person. scenecore isn’t a look or music subculture, and when i do see “scenecore” people, they don’t have a particular style, they just wear kandi and believe they are scenecore. it’s also not a music thing either, they mainly listen to hyperpop, which i don’t believe belongs to any subculture or anything like that. so yeah. if u think ur a scenecore person pls lmk why and what ur interpretation of a scenecore person is because i see it as just a visual thing because, scenecore is partly inspired by glitchcore, and you can’t be a glitchcore person either. glitchcore and scenecore are both just picture edits to me.
btw if u have any questions or video suggestions lmk :3
EDIT: THE SONG IS YOUNG FOREVER BY THE READY SET NIGHTCORE STOP ASKING ITS LITERALLY IN THE DESC

Ahhhh tysm for this! Not to mention the fact that scenecore was originally a term refering to scene music, I’m a little bit pissed off to see this become an "alt fashion" thing :’)
i hate people saying "im emo" but they are only glitchcore
Don't forget there were scenecore furries and hastune miku and dream smp (rarely) edits
Honestly idk how kids thought that danganronpa is in any way related to scene. I personally am scene and like scenecore.
(I don’t have scene clothes 😭)
0:51 fr like a rainbow checkered wallpaper with Ibuki on it doesn’t mean your scene💀
R u a demigirl bc I’m a demigirl
scene isn't just pop punk though right? I was pretty young when being scene was big but I remember ppl listening to EDM, dubstep, rave music and even some regular pop songs if they were sexy enough were considered scene.
pop punks the main genre to me but yeah edm and that stuff counts as scene music too
the scenecore image part, RIP my eyes it's too bright ☠️
i like a mix of both, leaning towards the fashion of scenecore. but i also like alot of emo/scene music. i feel like as long as you like the music, scenecore is more of an evolution of scene and not a "ripoff"
sammmeee
This sounds really confusing but my aesthetic is both if them
_The editing is everything! You can have any fashion sense no matter what at any time!) it’s like going into a gay parade and asking why everyone is yelling gay rights 😭😭_
_Im not on my scenecore acc just my normal one but tysm_
I feel prepubescent again hearing nightcore The Ready Set
scenecore is more tiktok alt than scene tbh
i want to change my aesthetic to scene and make sure i DONT end up as a scenecore person. ;-;
i don’t know where to buy the clothing and accessories- can someone drop some suggestions?
also have an afro so i can never do the scene hair D:
I buy my clothes from thrift stores, lots of scene 2010 stuff there. you just really have to look for them.
@@seikoshinohara4ever thank you!!
Thrift stores definitely. You can buy good stuff on eBay and Amazon as well. There is sometimes good stuff at hot topic as well.
finally somebody said it!! i really hate trying to look up "scene" and all i find is danganrompa rainbow edits. also, i listen to like the original scene songs and bands (millionares, pretty rave girl, etc) so does that mean i'm scene? i really want to be a scene kid, but idk if my parents would let me get the hair :(
you listen to scene music but i suggest trying to look more scene as well bc its more abt looks?
@@seikoshinohara4ever ok!!! i'm gonna try to save up for clothes and stuff
yez! thiz iz so trruuuu!! i’m a scene so showing people the difference iz really nice x3! Thanxxxx!!!
What’s wrong with glitchcore kids tho-
Also I don’t think we should gatekeep our clothing style from them.
side note, i rlly like the striped fingerless gloves theyre rlly cute to me :3
i myself am cutecore / webcore, i love watching or learning about diffrent aesthetics. by far i think scene is better, i think scenecore is like goth or alternative but with a splash of rainbow, pokemon and quirkiness. :>
lmao, I’m late but, to be honest i personally really like both, music wise i mean, both styles of music are pretty catchy to me, but fashion wise i personally go more with emo or scene stuff lol, i do agree there is a major difference since I’ve been around this stuff since I’d say about early/mid 2010s?, i do mostly listen to OG stuff but i do occasionally vibe to hyperpop or ‘scenecore’ :)
im a scene, and im proud! X3
Basically an exaggerated love letter to scene
I really think I am scene, I’ve always been both grunge and kawaii at the same time and didn’t know what it’s called but now I do
I’m still having trouble trying to figure out if I’m scene or scenecore, but seeing this video helped me a lot!
Edit: I decided 2 ditch the scenecore shit bc I just realized that I was a poser O_o
I'm looking forward 2 listen to scene music, clothing, or the subculture in general >_<
(I'm still learning 2 abrivi8 my wordz T_T)
Scenecore seems very inspired by the 2020 alt “bunny hat” style..
it basically is that but with a shit ton of rainbow checkerprints
I honestly cannot stand Danganropa, but i do listen to hyperpop as well as the OG scene bands… do I count as scene? ;-;
you’re scene. if you listen to og scene, you are scene. however, if your style and music is more scenecore/hyperpop, youre scenecore.
If you listen to both, it all comes down to how you dress and how your hair is/what you're planning to get. but even if u get scene hair but dress scenecore you're more of a scenecore person tbh
Same!! I can't stand Danganronpa either and I honestly get so annoyed when that's all people associate scene with.
need this song in my playlist right now loll
Danganronpa - scene core
Invader zim - scene
Tbh why does it even matter abt what we call things like aesthetics and stuff why cant we all just vibe and have fun (no hate)
Its sorta in the middle when it comes to the genre since its electropunk but Id say artists like 6arelyhuman and 100 gecs are scenecore and MSI is scene
edit: also sorry if i come off as defensive.
Im just emo/scene but when i was a kid i just didn't know that scenecore & scene aren't the same tho thx for telling me XD
we have the same pfp, i had to do a double take for a second
I don’t get it why not just call themselves glitchcore if that’s all they are 💀💀💀💀
Thanx for the info! One thing I'd like to explain are some of my interests (Read below)
I'm a big fan of scene culture, mainly cuz it's nostalgic and it's a peaceful community, and I'm also into a bit of webcore
My interests involving those times:
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Homestar Runner
Total Drama Island
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Scribblenauts
Super Meat Boy
Home Movies (from [as])
NCircle Enterntainment's old shows (from the late 2000's to early 2010's)
LittleBigPlanet
Happy Monster Band
And the music I listen to:
Some music on some scene (not the hyperpop) playlists
The music featured in the DOAWK movies (Forever the Sickest Kids, etc.)
Tally Hall
Eiffel 65
Maroon 5
Renard
Basshunter
And lots more, but I can't fit em all here
Does all that make me scene?

YESSSS I LUV IT TOO

That makes you a normie
scene >>>> scenecore.
Yah, scenecore is just, like, 2010s web core tbh. You can’t exactly be scenecore outside of the internet with out just being scene itself
this is why i go to livejournal for actually scene clothing!!
-core is just like a modern version of a certain subculture
for me 'scenecore' is just 'alt 2020' nothing more and nothing less (I'm scene and I like that look a little bit, like maybe 5/10 not bad but not good, the worst is olny that cringe part of it or fact they're often sm00king and calling theselfs 'scene' )
thats the new term for it bc alt 2020 mfs either used to call themselves “alt” or “scenecore”
Bro the scenecore image is literally my wallpaper 😭✌️
although this is definitely true, and theres a difference between these, we shouldn't be getting mad at every single person who says they're "scenecore" because most people don't know the difference and are just misguided by tiktoks. we need to understand that not everyone saying they're scenecore has malicious intent. and while scene and scenecore are different styles and such, scenecore is similar to scene in the ways that it's influenced by 2000's styles and media. once again, they're different things, but scenecore is inspired by scene. so rather than being annoyed, and angry at thoe who consider themselves scenecore, why don't you just calmly tell theme the difference, and let them live their lives? as someone who has outfits that are inspired, or just are the styles, of scene and scenecore, the amount of hate i get from elder scene people is insane. elder scene people should be able to recognize that scenecore is a style inspired by scene, and that they should be happy that their style has rubbed off a bit onto younger people. although scenecore people do need to give credit where it is due towards scene people, we should still let them dress the way they want, and if it's really that big of a problem that they use the name scenecore, help some people find new names to call their style. it's not that hard to be kind and understanding to people.
also sorry if this makes no sense at some parts, im terrible at constructing sentences that make sense
i do listen to scenecore musics but I don't wear some rainbow colorful shit but I do obsessed with hello kitty so tf i am now lel.
do you listen to real scene music as well? and do you wear a lot of scene stuff?
@@seikoshinohara4ever I do care abt my hair alot [i'm a guy btw]

3 years later and I've decided that I actually hate scenecore lol.
Except for the Danganronpa stuff.
i think scenecore is more like hyperpop being confused with scene and scene is more 2000s/early 2010s
Core is literally just another word for aesthetic, and aesthetic just means style 🖖😭
scenecore reminds me of decora substyle fashion in some ways
oh my god thank you so much its kinda dumb that people actually need to tell people the difference but i agree like the glitchcore scenecore shit is not the same as scene THXFOR MAKING THIS OMG
man just let people be what they want it aint harming anyone 😭 also when did aesthetics become a thing that we had to gatekeep?? like all in all its just looking a certain way, it doesnt really matter in the big picture :||
it’s literally not even gatekeeping XD its telling the difference between 2 things. thats like going on a video of ppl explaining the difference between emo and goth and saying thats gatekeeping.

MILLIONAIRES!!!
Millionaries supermacy
The song you played was so refreshing. I tried to get into modern scenecore music out of nostalgia for my teen days. I couldn’t. 90% of it sounded exactly the same.
I’m scene and emo and I have those platforms and people mix me up for goth
Im so happy to see most of these comments aren't talking badly about the others and pointing out similarities but seeing the differences between the aesthetics identity etc
Oh my god... thank you so much seikoshinohara4ever. i hate it when they say theyre "scenecore" it just makes me cringe so hard.
Scene - rainbow
Scenecore - vomit a rainbow
Thank you!! One day I googled for scenecore just to get some information about it and saw some 2010 scene pictures ;-; and this video also helped me alot to get some informations about scenecore... and I saw that you like rpg maker horror games.. you have good taste ^^ that was a long comment 0.0
Aw thanks!
I’m a scene kid and I don’t even wear kandi that much (I hate wearing things on my wrists), I wear it VERY rarely. So yeah..
I don't think it's a problematic thing, I think it's just the aesthetic version of scene culture.
being scene and “regular tiktok alt” to me isnt really scenecore idk what you mean by tiktok alt but ok

I like both aesthetics mashed together more😭😭😭😭
Ok but the second “scenecore” person IS scene I think. They just don’t have the hair.
Damn, i’m like a mix between both of them
idk, i'd love to just wear whatever i want without needing this or that to be classified as scene or scenecore, since the whole point of this is expressing ourselves and meet ppl
They are quite close but not the same.
ehh, sorta. scenecore is just scene but with a lot of modern / trendy influences put into it.
im like a subtle mix between both. Im getting them confused a lot as im slightly new to the style (slightly new because i used to wanna dress like this when i was a little younger) so this is really useful.
i get mad seeing glitchcore kids calling themselves scene xP ty 4 this
I LOVE THISS!!!! im trying to dress more scene with the clothes i have because i REALLY need new clothes!! i tried to look for scene pfps but i only found stupid eyebleeding glitchcore stuff. we need this fixed!!
