John squire I met sister on new years Eve as I was on my back in agony trying to kill the Pope in a 3 month ritual the play rosie molly came out. ...I am Philip John davenport order of the dragon. ....and way above JOHN SQUIRE IN THE PECTIN TREE. ...I am can hear the WOODPECKER EFFECT. ...I am very clever
This, ladies and gentlemen was the first thing I heard when I exited the womb on Wednesday the 28th of May of the year 1997. The greatest guitar riff ever!
One of the best things about this version's 4min 23sec jam session at the end is the way Squire hangs a big old lampshade on his Stone Roses days by throwing in the riff from "Love Spreads". Gives me a chuckle every time. As does the fact that the rest of the band finishes up and runs off to catch Chris Helme who had clearly popped off down the pub after singing the last chorus, and just leaves John in his own little world, noodling away alone in the studio oblivious at the end...
i would say same level as sex pistols ( they both have 1 album studio) ...not so influencer right buttt an album so weelll done...like the guy ... try again
I have to have this in my playlists and will never have a music player without it I have too many memories to this album. I love this and suicide drive and love is the law the most from my teenage years.
There are many, many unanswered questions in life that keep the mind open and active....like why the fuck was this band not as huge as Oasis and why did they just go away depsite their phenomenal collective talent? This album is just fucking awesome.
Simple - the two arguing brothers from Manchester where one thinks he is a walking talking ROCK GOD is easier for the media to sell than the seahorses who were simply just a really good band
The reason the band split was because during the recording of their prospective second album there were tensions between John Squire and Chris Helme. Apparently Helme was frustrated that his song contributions were being ignored and he began turning up to rehersal sessions hung over. And Squire is said to have felt that what they were doing "sounds shit" and they were only getting the attention due to his past. He was also annoyed at Helme's plans to launch a solo career at the same time.

“Johnny Page” - still, easily better than the last Roses output. What were they thinking. Remember seeing this band on the first gig of their first tour at Wolverhampton. Squires lead broke mid solo and he just shrugged and took a bow😄
I'd go back a year or so and say the same thing for the Stone Roses.... (I am the Resurrection: now that IS a guitar solo!) ... just something about greatness that is so ill-fated I spose...
@homerbear46 r u kidding me,,this is one of the best indie albums u can buy,,i still have this brand new,,unwrapped so one day in 40 or 50 years i can show my grandkids wat music really is,,,thats if cds still exist of course
@Dangarus1 This and I Am The Resurrection are by far and away the greatest of all British guitar solos from the last 25 years IMHO.... Squire is the Guitarist Laureate!
We lived in a dogfish egg case You qcould barely call it home Sorry little lot no roof on top But the fish left us alone Try a little more said the girl next Door it's time to roam Mad Lizzy Crumbs blind cobblers Thumbs were a sight to behold She was a rum old slapper and we always Tried to get her pants off when she phoned Left her cap by the sink it's not what you think Oh take me home Now we know where we're going baby We can lay back and enjoy the ride Take in the sights and drown in our senses Love is the law so take me deep inside Strap on Sally chased us down the alley We feared for our behinds Oasis was a shop with shoes so hot They were sure to blow your mind Running so fast I can taste the past Oh take me home Now we know where we're going baby We can lay back and enjoy the ride Take in the sights and drown in our senses Love is the law so take me deep inside These waters run deep it's clear my little one Blue velvet star sky not a sound The light in your eyes the smile on your ruby lips Tells me my lost soul is found Now we know where we're going baby We can lay back and enjoy the ride Take in the sights and drown in our senses Love is the law so take me deep inside
ive read an article and ian brown said he had heard love is the law and knew of it before it was released so im guessing squire had it during the roses
"Oasis was a shop with shoes so hot. They were sure to blow your mind" Is it an homage to the Gallaghers? It's all the more interesting as Liam Gallagher co-wrote Love Me And Leave Me! Great song and band. They only fault is that they released only one album!
There's a video where Noel Gallagher and Ian Brown are interviewed about their love of Adidas and Noel says that Oasis was the name of a market stall back in the day in Machester that used to sell imported Adidas football terrace shoes from Europe. He talks about it here at 4:15 th-cam.com/video/-VeD27szmSE/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Ignorancia18
Do It Yourself - One of those rare albums where every single track is quality
I only discovered them this week and even though this comment was 10 years ago I couldn’t agree more
Depends what or who you’re listening too
John squire I met sister on new years Eve as I was on my back in agony trying to kill the Pope in a 3 month ritual the play rosie molly came out. ...I am Philip John davenport order of the dragon. ....and way above JOHN SQUIRE IN THE PECTIN TREE. ...I am can hear the WOODPECKER EFFECT. ...I am very clever
I seriously believe that this song's guitar solo is one of the best ever. John Squire is an underrated beast on the guitar.
+ThePizzaBoy381 not underrated... squires f,kin genious... love ouutros....this... i am the ressurrection etc
+ThePizzaBoy381 Could not agree more!
+MrRamto13 I do know Al Di Meola. Race with the Devil on Spanish Highway is incredible.
Al de meola?? Educate me..they a band??
+MrRamto13 Can't say I'm familiar with him. Will definitely check him out, though.
This, ladies and gentlemen was the first thing I heard when I exited the womb on Wednesday the 28th of May of the year 1997.
The greatest guitar riff ever!
settle down. ever heard "Black dog"?
I went to see them live at Manchester Academy. I'd just left secondary school. 👍
Do NOT overlook the quality bass line amongst the greatness of the Squire!! 👌🏻🎸
well.... it's hardly Mani is it?
Very led zeppelin
I don't use emogis because I am not a 12 year old Japanese school girl
@@madmesh978 no but I imagine you’ve probably wished you were you pathetic little nonse
@@patrickbracken3363 no it isn’t, thanks for your quality comment stating the obvious
Class song, class band very overlooked...plus John Squire is a legend, easily one of the best British guitarists in the late 25 years.
John Squire is THE man!!
One of the greatest solos of all time !!
Great vocals and lyrics plus a masterclass by the Squire
Super tune from back in the day when British music was overwhelmingly good.
Master class in bass lines too
Totally outstanding album.
Dunno. There's some dogshit songs on it.
@@berlinocelot Err no.
More people need this band in their lives!
the most underrated album of its time. 100%
One of the best riffs ever.
The man is one of those people you would walk past in the street and not know what a God he was/is...
Squire is the man
Life had so many possibilities when i first listened to this -- I knew exactly who i was and exactly where i was going. Simple times.
then it's summer, i'm in my 20s and i'm down the the pub with my mates. it can't get any better than that. and now......................
Yes even in 2020 !
Still legendary to this day
This is one of those songs I've been chasing throughout my life …. i'm 33 today so it's been a while, but worth the wait … what a gift!!!!!!!

F o o k ! Wish this had made the cut as a Roses song. Reni's drumming wouldve kicked this up a notch or two. Amazing.

Another track I hammered on lead, brilliant song!
Best solo last 20 years..🎸
Brilliant, just brilliant. Another highlight of this album for me was "Standing on Your Head", loving the bass on that track!
Absolutely awesome
Simply amazing
Funkn bass And love you John from America
Great song, not heard it in ages. Shame the rest of the album wasn't this good
Fantastic album. Try again.
i would say same level as sex pistols ( they both have 1 album studio) ...not so influencer right buttt an album so weelll done...like the guy ... try again
Whole album is great
great song, shame the radio listening public never hear the full version! the Jam at the end is awesome!
One of the greatest songs ever!!
Banging album, very underated
Squire killing it again
I have to have this in my playlists and will never have a music player without it I have too many memories to this album. I love this and suicide drive and love is the law the most from my teenage years.

Agreed
9 times out of 10, it's just marketing. Sadly.

Love this album 90s child now a Nanny xx
“Johnny Page” - still, easily better than the last Roses output. What were they thinking.

Remember seeing these in Cardiff University 13th of June 1997
John squire tho!!!
Whooohoo!! love it!
John fookin Squire
You don't pronounce it 'oo'. I'm having a fooking beer, so bottoms oop.
Ese solo es brutal, que discurso, que fraseo, diría que habla, pero va más allá de eso...
Sounds like a Thor Movie. Luv it!
Magnificent guitar solo
I'd go back a year or so and say the same thing for the Stone Roses....
(I am the Resurrection: now that IS a guitar solo!)
... just something about greatness that is so ill-fated I spose...
Squire definitely rivals his solo in I am the resurrection here , led zippy influence mad rife 🎵🎙🎸🏴✌👍
fuckin' hell
I had this band all over my walls as a kid!
:D
Do it yourself, awesome album, fantastic song writing, and a well tight band. shame they split up so fast. so many people love this album.
Strap on Sally chased us down the alley!
Best lyric ever
The instrumental solo at 3:24 is amazing.
It’s at 3:21
Cippolina moves,man
...
thank you, i lost this CD = =
It's like a monster took a bite out of the globe
the best album,,, almost all of the songs became hits... and until 2022 I'm still listening to the songs...
Absolute filth. The solo is a different level
john Squire fantastic solo but mt favourite still has to be Stone Roses driving south. It just blows me away
@homerbear46 r u kidding me,,this is one of the best indie albums u can buy,,i still have this brand new,,unwrapped so one day in 40 or 50 years i can show my grandkids wat music really is,,,thats if cds still exist of course
Underrated!!!
In 2020
@stereotoned Yes I read that they recorded a second album but they split before its release.
Noel Redding approves this message from beyond the grave
This is mine and my cousin’s favourite song ❤
6:15 - 6:23 ngl but this bit is proper heavy metal
@Dangarus1 This and I Am The Resurrection are by far and away the greatest of all British guitar solos from the last 25 years IMHO.... Squire is the Guitarist Laureate!
@lyonslaforet they made a second album which was unreleased but leaked onto the internet. it's still around on the torrent scene.
I've got a couple of tracks from the album that weren't on youtube in HD on my channel: 1999 & Round The Universe. Great band.
That chorus fucking rocks my soul.
FUCK YEAH!!!! I remember this one! Nice to revisit.
Fuck me, I'm not one for nostalgia, but I'm welling up here....the sound of my teens
Are u still 19
excelente calidad de audio, que solo el del final, mamita...
+Federico Ribetto es squire. con ese apellido no podia fallar nunca
Mommy 🤣
when i here this song i always think of mark and lard of radio 1
Tune!
Lyonslaforet
The Seahorses released a second album aswell you know.
Owen Deane They recorded it but never released it; but you can find it online on your favourite torrent site ;-)
TUNE!!
GET IN!!!
Reverse gate on Squire's guitars, are cool.
Sounds like Squire breaks into "Love Spreads" at 3:42
We lived in a dogfish egg case
You qcould barely call it home
Sorry little lot no roof on top
But the fish left us alone
Try a little more said the girl next
Door it's time to roam
Mad Lizzy Crumbs blind cobblers
Thumbs were a sight to behold
She was a rum old slapper and we always
Tried to get her pants off when she phoned
Left her cap by the sink it's not what you think
Oh take me home
Now we know where we're going baby
We can lay back and enjoy the ride
Take in the sights and drown in our senses
Love is the law so take me deep inside
Strap on Sally chased us down the alley
We feared for our behinds
Oasis was a shop with shoes so hot
They were sure to blow your mind
Running so fast I can taste the past
Oh take me home
Now we know where we're going baby
We can lay back and enjoy the ride
Take in the sights and drown in our senses
Love is the law so take me deep inside
These waters run deep it's clear my little one
Blue velvet star sky not a sound
The light in your eyes the smile on your ruby lips
Tells me my lost soul is found
Now we know where we're going baby
We can lay back and enjoy the ride
Take in the sights and drown in our senses
Love is the law so take me deep inside
When this was out I loved it, had no idea who stone roses where 😂 embarrassing
You can really hear the Jimmy Page influence in his playing!
class.
John Squire should be regarded in the same category as Hendrix and Page.
I remember getting told off at school for singing this...screw The Man...The Seahorses are beautiful:0)x
Te deseo mucho exito
💗
yeaaaaaaaaa
This whole album is first rate, though its was slated by critics when it came out. This a top tune , and it's shame that they only made one album.
4.18 thought i was listening to driving south
Imagine The Roses had done this . Fuck me , it would have been special
It'd be rad if they added this and, "F.E.A.R." to their live setlist. They're good enough to be Roses tunes. Init.
ive read an article and ian brown said he had heard love is the law and knew of it before it was released so im guessing squire had it during the roses
Nicky Killen They did a whole album of this - Second Coming.
kevinindublin Second Coming sucked big time and nothing on it comes close to this.
+Nicky Killen you mad? love spreads, ten storey love song, tightrope, tears, begging you and driving south?you sure your not E'd up????
"Oasis was a shop with shoes so hot. They were sure to blow your mind"
Is it an homage to the Gallaghers? It's all the more interesting as Liam Gallagher co-wrote Love Me And Leave Me!
Great song and band. They only fault is that they released only one album!
lyonslaforet so this was obviously a long long time ago but actually, Oasis was actually a genuine shoe shop... 'Oasis was a shop, with shoes so hot'
There's a video where Noel Gallagher and Ian Brown are interviewed about their love of Adidas and Noel says that Oasis was the name of a market stall back in the day in Machester that used to sell imported Adidas football terrace shoes from Europe. There’s a band called oasis
