i can tell that you are, as many (including myself) don't realize how difficult it is to actually build this type of structure, as simple as it may look at a first glance, down to an 1/8th of an inch accuracy. means a lot coming from someone like you!
thank you sir! yes indeed, a good observation, forgot to mention in the video, the reason for a different color is that all the outside walls are built of pumice blocks, which is a lightweight concrete aggregate. they are much wider (over a foot, while regular blocks are half of that), and have 9 sections (pockets) inside. regular concrete blocks usually have 4-6 sections. and the reason is energy efficiency - they retain temperature much better than regular concrete blocks, and are half the weight. but of course, they cost more :)
thank you! i agree, especially in the areas which are prone to tornadoes or earthquakes. i did some research before deciding on the type of construction, and concrete/cinderblock seemed to have a few more advantages. it's being built in the "other" Georgia, across the pond ;)
I am from South Africa and from a young age I always wondered why Americans don't build all their houses like this with the kind of nature disasters the US have yearly.
@@randomlady5315 that os very interesting indeed. i assume it’s because of the cost. would be curious to see what is the price difference per sq/ft. one other advantage of the wooden house is that it gets built a lot quicker
Please be careful when cutting wood with a power tool. Make sure the piece of wood is properly supported to prevent it from getting knocked off and hurting someone.
you are absolutely correct - i wouldn't do that under normal circumstances. i didn't have my tripod with me to hold the camera, but nobody was in the room and i held the piece loosely, so in case it grabbed, it wouldn't have pulled my fingers with it :) but appreciate your comment - safety #1 EVERYONE!
glad you liked it and found it useful. unfortunately, i don't have a cost breakdown per each component, but here are a few things that might give you some idea on the cost: the retaining wall cost as much as one floor of the house, if not more, counting leveling the back yard where the house is standing. took about 10-12 metric tons of rebar (of different gauges), can't remember exactly how many cubic yards/meters of concrete it took (though it can be counted going through the blueprints), and had to bring in the pump truck to pour it all in, which costs as much as a full truck of concrete (costly, but less labor consuming), about $7k for roofing and $10k aluminum windows and back doors (materials and labor). overall cost to this point, however, is about $70-80k total (materials, labor, engineer, constructor, excavators, trucks, building materials for forms, rent of the jacks, scaffolding, etc... - i mean all of it). hope this helps a bit.
thank you! i’m definitely planning on doing so, but it’s a slow process 😔 as soon as i have enough content for at least a few minute update, i’ll post for sure👌
actually, several viewers have asked me for the structural drawings but for legal reasons i’m not allowed to share them, you know, in case someone doesn’t do it right and my channel or the architectural company gets sued… but i’m working on putting out floor plans, if that may be of any help 🤘
thanks for watching the video, bro, but i’ll take my chances👌 out of curiosity, how would you know that without even looking at the structural drawings and calculations? i’ve had it checked and re-checked by several engineers and the only comment i got that i’s an overkill, and it could support another 10 floors on top of it with ease. i assume you are an engineer of some sort to be saying that - care to share exactly which part of the structure made you say that?
@@hamidafshar9820 i suggest you ask a real engineer with some building experience if a monolithic carcass structure of 11 columns and interlocking beams (with 6-one inch rebars) to support itself and the second floor of 120 sq meters is not enough or an overkill, then re-run this model and let me know please

Great job sir. Do those concrete blocks have a different color shade from the normal blocks?

They look really nice. Great house you have there
congratulations
Great video. Where is this being built? I love the fact that you are building in concrete. We need more homes built like that in the US.

how much did it cost in total?
not including roofing+windows about $60k

I have master degree in structure engineering. Colomns are so weak four bars are very less with which structural software this model has passed.

No reason to worry, this house will last forever, come and see house built in USA, that’s scary!
