okay the people criticizing this dude haven't the slightest iota of how much discipline and effort went into making this possible. I can't even wrap my head around how I would set up all the looping pedals correctly, let alone be able to trigger everything and switch between instruments at the drop of a hat

Yes, we all love the original, but this still deserves a lot of respect and acclaim. He didn't just emulate all the notes and structure, he matched so many of the timbers and nuances too. Brilliant cover.

I'm a longtime fan of Aphex Twin and this is an amazing cover of Windowlicker. Take a listen to Acoustica by Alarm Will Sound for similar; orchestral covers of Aphex Twin, including many from Drukqs. I will be listening to this often, I'm sure!
Alarm "Will" Sound rather than "may" but agreed that album is excellent really good orchestral interpretation of Aphex Twin's material.

he leaves out the part where the original changes the feeling to shuffle from straight and then back again and into another shuffle part. which i think is okay, because it would mean do record several loops at first if you don't have a drummer backing you.
BUT in the main theme he is out of tune and it's awful. hurts my ears.

The fact that somebody, or anybody, would choose to cover Aphex Twin says it all. More so with a deviant (and obscure) track like ‘Windowlicker’, whose unorthodox beats and borderline-perverse rhythms are disturbingly catchy as they are complex - to even fathom, let alone master and reproduce.
Any dude that does, and does succeed (like this dude), is an effin’ genius! Much respect on your choice of music, and hats off to you for nailing what I consider to be a flawless cover!

i would say aphex twin has more complicated tracks than this some of the druqs tracks are more complicated. im not nocking the guy playing this track obviously its difficult to pull off just think afx has more complicated tracks than this

This is one of the best stuff I have seen ultimately,, amazing,,I was alway by the opinion that "IDM" and stuff should sound much better if played by organic instruments and sounds, he is using some electronics but sounds really good any way, and the most interesting is see the performance, even if the the track is not so good (not the case of Windowlicker) it becomes great with his live performances. :-), I imagine the amount of trouble for him to play something by Autechre(I suggest him Cipater by the Chiastic Slide album or any other from the 90s), Z'EV instruments should help.

Cover Carry On Camping (Raving Mad Mix) this was clever
damn so much hate on the comments! As a musician of 10+ years I found this fucking awesome! Binkbeats wasn't trying to make an exact cover of the song, that would be boring as fuck. Instead he used live acoustic instruments to recreate a sound similar to synths and drums machines. I thought using the marimba for the lead analog polysynth part was genius. Appreciate this for what it is. If you want an exact copy go look up some video tutorials on how to remake songs in fruity loops. Peace

he makes it look easy. I was shocked how close the compressed live drums sounded to the recording. do we ever see what looper he is using, or what box/plugin on the vocals?
seems like he took great pains to cover up his feet. why? i'd like to see more of what he is doing to actually structure the song using the looper -- I'm assuming there is some loop pedal under there.

Hi :) It seems to be some kind of custom kalimba equipped with guitar humbuckers, probably going through some compression, distortion, maybe sidechaining compressor. He uses it in several Beats Unraveled, with different sounds :)
Oh, my bad, I might be wrong about the effetcs: it seems to be plugged into the small amplifier with aliminium foil over it, which might give this weird compressed/distorted sound. Cheers!
