My dog seems to have gone back in progress at the end of week 2. He was already weighing bearing at the end of week 1 but has started limping again and showing signs of pain after the stitches were removed
I am sorry to hear this. Is it possible your dog has done too much walking? Typically when stitches are removed it should not cause them to limp, unless they are doing too much or have an infection. Check the place where the stitches were, is there alot of redness or is it puffy? If so it is possible there is an infection from the inside. let me know how it goes..😁
@caninewellnessonline Hi, thanks so much for replying. The incision looked fine. I think he was just being too active inside of the house and not resting enough. I put him on trazadone once per day and that calms him down. His let seems to be improving again now that he's resting more.
You can take him out every few hours if needed. just make sure to use a sling and a short leash. you don't want him tripping or falling down stairs. the first few days he may be a "Little" off, but don't worry by the end of the week all will be good
My dog is going to have a pin removal in the left leg that was operated on 8 months ago because of irritation, surgeon diagnosis ,and TPLO in the right leg . How will that work? Thank you
the recovery will be super quick. Most dogs that i have seen that have had the plate removed, are so much better right after. Remember the bone is healed so the plate is no longer required. The recovery will be just the stitches. Thanks for your comment...t
@@caninewellnessonline thank you but she just had TPLo on the right leg . The left one had patella 9 months ago. She was still limping so the surgeon took the pin out on the left but right had an ACL tear. That is a difficult situation . How long does TPLo on the right take to recover. Thank you so much
@@faridehh857 got it. The first two weeks you will have to be careful but typically the bone will be about 80% healed by week 8. Check out my recovery series tplo videos. The week 8 talks about bone healing.
@@caninewellnessonline question, the implant should be removed later or not necessarily? Also I tried tickling her paws she didn’t respond( may be because of sedatives?) Thank you so much
Totally off the wall comment: If the sheer number of posts and videos about TPLO is any indication, are we dealing with an epidemic? 'Perfect design' aside, what is causing CCL at what appears be be an alarming rate? Dogs acting like dogs is often served up as a possible cause but that seems a cop-out. Another theory I saw is 'spaying/neutering too early'. Prevention is the best solution so it would be beyond cool if a solid cause were to be found?
You are correct it is an epidemic. There are several known causes. Genetics being one of them. If you watch my video on causes of ccl injury I discuss possible theories. Thanks for the comment
@@hankguichelaar Hi, good morning, today is day 10 since the surgery . My dog Maggie is a bit agitated and wants to go out all the time. She doesn’t like the back yard which is small and forces me to take her out in the street. I am worried that she is walking too much. She put weight on the surgery leg, but when she stands and stops walking she keeps it a bit higher than ground. Is it ok for her to walk at this point?

Thank you for these. Any advice on how often should I take my dog out for bathroom breaks the first week?
