It was freezing cold and very snowy, we too visited that waterfall, it was truly spectacular, and we cannot wait to be able to visit again, although we may consider a re-mortgage next time we go lol. What you said about travelling giving you a sense of freedom really struck a chord, especially now that we’re all literally grounded and can’t really go anywhere, no matter if it’s for leisure or work. @@noelphilips I don't know if you've ever looked at my channel, but I film the tube,, trains, buses (and even flights in the good old days!) and country walks. I was being bombarded with comments about masks, is this journey essential etc. I eventually decided to disable comments on my most recent videos. Its been sublimely peaceful since I did this, and the numbers of views haven't been affected. I was sad to see a "masks" comment on this video of yours as well as the "you shouldn't be travelling" one, but I was genuinely (and pleasantly) surprised by the support you are receiving, which is well deserved anyway.

Keep up the great work and keep on traveling. The trollls will get bored soon enough.

Great views Noel...best in flight entertainment by a mile !! And the scenery on the drive looks pretty good as well as did you driving on the "wrong"side of the road !! Amazing story re the aircraft...it is a wonder the scrap metal merchants haven't taken it !! Noel I found this on the internet .....In 1973 a United States Navy DC plane ran out of fuel and crashed on the black beach at Sólheimasandur, in the South Coast of Iceland. Fortunately, everyone in that plane survived. Later it turned out that the pilot had simply switched over to the wrong fuel tank. That is one hell of a waterfall !! Great stuff Noel and keep up the great work on the land or in the sky...really enjoyed this video...stay safe and well mate !! Looking forward to your next adventure !!

His watch says it was 23:57 when he recorded that sunset and the sun seems to have two or three minutes left in it before it disappears on over the horizon. Reykjavik is not far enough north to have any days of 24 hour sunlight but 21 hours isn’t half bad!

I totally agree with your new approach. Being Australian, the shortest international flight from say Sydney is three hours to New Zealand. Flying to Asia, the first half of the flight is over Australia. West coast USA is 14-15 hours, Europe is roughly 24 hours including a two hour transit in Singapore/Bangkok/Dubai . So the concept of flying somewhere just to turn around go back is unusual. Once I went to the USA for a 90 minute site inspection and then came straight back - no jet lag that way! I would rather see more of your destinations and also, some of the local food.

Sitting here in my home in Reykjavík, in late March, watching this video definitely makes me wish we could skip ahead to summer all at once! The south coast is incredible. The name "Höfn" is pronounced something like "Hup" in Icelandic, but for a non-native speaker, that terminal sound is nearly impossible to get right for an Icelander's standard, so "Hofinn" works. I would love to see you come back again sometime! (For some scenic air travel, the flight into Akureyri is particularly fun because the airport is surrounded on three sides by mountains, at the bottom of a fjörd.)

I am so happy that you finally reflected about your privilege of traveling. It's crazy because I was literally just discussing that with my partner yesterday while we watched one of your previous videos. (My partner is the one that got me into your channel). But my one "issue" that I've always had is just the fact that you go to all these amazing places all over the world, yet often don't really explore them and just go to the next place immediately. And it's like, my thought while watching your videos sometimes is "wow, I would *love* to be where he is right now and get to walk around/see the landscape/learn about their culture- and he's not going to do any of that even though he could if he wanted to". But you have this fortunate ability to travel and your lifestyle is a dream for many (although I am sure you work hard to be able to do this and you put so much effort into making this content for us). I know you're all about the flying experience and that's the point of your content, but I still wish you would schedule more time at each place when possible. And I know that jealousy on my part is probably the primary reason for this pet peeve I've had with your content, lol. But my feeling is somewhat justified- and based on your speech in this video, it sounds like you agree!
I hope that going forward you will indeed take advantage of your travels, instead of missing the point of flying to these locations. (I mean most people's point in flying, which is the part where you're there and visit it as a tourist.) I recognize that your main purpose will always be about the flight which is your niche!
But seriously, you don't even have to film all of your extra time in each country. In fact, you probably shouldn't so that you can be fully mindful/in the present, experiencing things with your senses (not through a camera, focusing on narration and whatnot). Although I am sure we wouldn't mind any bonus footage/pictures/commentary of special sights that you decide to insert in these videos!
Anyway, you're awesome, and I'm just so glad that you've addressed this topic because it will no longer bother me in the back of my mind when we watch your videos. :P

Quite the tourist attraction, I understand, that plane. Probably why it hasn’t been hauled off. On at least one album cover.

Those blue engine cowlings remind me of the FlyPelican service i caught from Newcastle to Sydney in February, also on a J32. Great to see some travel reviews again on TH-cam!

Whoops - forgot to say that I loved the drive across Iceland!! Well done. When you said 1,267 kms to the airport, it only took a few seconds to calculate that you were not catching a flight that night.
