My step father was the hotel manager here back in the late 80's. I also worked at the front desk. Lots of fun memories of this place. Sad to see it like this.
This was a top rated hotel in Southfield. It was THE place to be in the 70's and 80's. So sad to see this place now. That commercial grade kitchen setup was a fortune to install.
I could remember going to a couple of wedding receptions held there back in the early to mid 70s... I knew it had changed hands a few times since then, but had absolutely no idea it was now totally abandoned! When Northland slowly closed down, a lot of surrounding places went with it!
Used to go here with the homies years ago and chill in the suites up top when they where in almost perfect condition (probably where homeless dudes now living) good times. RIP Hunter
Gorgeous footage. Would love to see this in person one day. I’m from the Midwest as well and it’s crazy how many buildings are rotting away in Detroit area and Gary area.
me and my buddy’s just went there today couldn’t get in definitely going back with tools one day explored the pool area a bit its so cool but so creepy
Just went here 2 days ago with some friends and my gf. Explored every single floor. Very worth it to see. A lot of poop in rooms where it seems ppl were hanging out in tho 👀
Interesting to see hotels I assumed were thriving as I grew up and have seen throughout my life NOW ABANDONED first there was the Hyatt in Dearborn now this one in Southfield…. I surely never thought I’d see this happen to these places Especially as New Hotels are opening up in Downtown Detroit on a regular basis with in the last several years.
Normally it’s rare that I watch these types of pubic spaces… but this being only a couple miles away from where I live , and the fact that I’m familiar with this building seeing as that Northland Mall was one of my go to places as a kid way before I started going to Oakland Mall . I had No idea that it was even abandoned… But you guys did an EXCELLENT job exploring this place and I liked that you did research and also weren’t afraid to so documents and even photos that were left behind , to me that makes for the BEST exploration …. Something few other explorers care to do because of so called privacy concerns .. WHO would have thought some of what I would consider the BEST EXPLORERS RIGHT IN MY NECK OF THE WOODS so to speak 👍🏿
Yeah man I saw your video! You guys didn’t even bother trying to climb over the barricade lol! What made it so sketchy, for me anyway, was that you KNOW people are sleeping there…regularly I’d assume. After we encountered a few obvious “bedding” areas, I was ready to go. I kinda wanted to head straight up to the roof to catch that view first, but then…that’s where Cum Hands is supposed to live!
Hi. My best friend & I just watched your video. We met there as waitresses in the mid 80's & are still friends. You wanna hear some real stories about this place? Get in contact with me.😅
I liked the part at 15:41 where you showed the USED CONDOM🤢🤮,the cigarette butt🚬and whatever the other item is on the table😁. At least we now know that someone smoked and had sex here😁. Thanks for the tour of this dilapidated hotel✅👍🏻.
Plenty of people in Detroit, I’m just the only one interested in going into these places lol! No that’s not true, I share this hobby with a whole community of urban explorers, it’s pretty mind-blowing when you get into it all
A sauna room.... I love how today's youth knows so little. It's baffling. And the cinematography needs a ton of work. Moving around so quickly? Makes viewers nauseous. But again, today's youth have no clue.
Eh, it just didn’t feel right at the time, I felt like I needed to go, and you gotta go with your instinct. Check out my videos tab though, to see all the spots I have been

Very sad! I recall attending a graduation party at this hotel. It was nicer in the 90s. Southfield was very a beautiful city in the 90’s.
Thanks for the tag!! Scary place
I drive by that building all the time! You think they would fix it up and turn it into apartments because it’s so massive!

I wish I could’ve seen the place back when it was open. Thanks for sharing your memories!

It’s crazy! I lived in Seattle for 10 years, and they don’t have ANYTHING like this over there!
That building still has good bones. Hopefully a developer can buy it clean it out remodel it and make it a hotel again

@@PinetopJackson2 ….Cum Hands? 🤨 lmaooo is that the name people have for the homeless dude who lives up too?
so much could of been sold when it closed now its left to rot
Can i ask why did they close this and now its just rotting away why dont they tear it down or do something with it ??
I lived here with with my dad for a year in 2008. It legit still looks the same.😂
Looks the same on the outside, right?
I can’t imagine it’d be so trashed inside while people were still living there?!
@@PinetopJackson2 it wasn't trashed but it could definitely use a touch up. Every weekend there would be a party downstairs

Hey those are historically significant details, can’t leave those out!
Did you see or hear the old guy or the dog?
You've been in so many abandoned buildings since moving to Detroit I'm beginning to wonder if you're the only person there.
Plenty of people in Detroit, I’m just the only one interested in going into these places lol! No that’s not true, I share this hobby with a whole community of urban explorers, it’s pretty mind-blowing when you get into it all
is this that fake staircase thing I've wanted go up since I was like 4

Your such a scary cat lol if you can’t make it to the top of this building you won’t make it almost anywhere
