If someone were to ask me that same question now (no one seems to bother) I'd answer, "A Session Man" with all the same confidence. You're a hero to us all Tom. Long may you reign.
One thing about this channel is that in a world full of esoteric, fancy, complex guitar music it's easy to forget the visceral, emotional impact of good old proper Rock & Roll... and Uncle Larry is one of the native speakers preserving the dialect not only for posterity, but for us to use and abuse in the wild. I'm a solo musician but this past Saturday, I got together with a band to jam and they had another guitar player, and at one point I started telling him about a guy named Tom Bukovac, and his face lit up, "Hell yes"....He told me you helped get him through the 1st part of Covid watching your channel. I told him, Hell I bought his T-shirt (Plexi Soul) and the Plexi Soul Cd. Tom, I know you probably know this already, but you have sincerely touched a ton of people, (including myself). Love this. I've played since I was 15. Served my country for 32 years, once I realised I couldn't afford school, or live off bar pay on a band, lol. I now am divorced, have a service dog, quit playing after Iraq in 2007, and one day I pulled out the junk and plug in an amp with a guitar. I missed out on all the licks and tricks, and 90s copy cats, and now, I watch people enjoy the world, and talk about heroes or influences. I also now play alot again in a country band, and the music police still ask me why. I tell them that I can play this or that, but mostly I just want to stay in tune, and be heard over the drummer and steel player. I like things simple. So as all my bla bla may not seem relevant, you are! Your attitude is simple and you make people feel important by being you. I can't copy you, nor would I tell others to try, because that's not what you and some you deal with preach. Thanks for being 54 and I'm 58, lol, and I love your stuff here and over there, and wherever. It's been a tough life like many have, but music often is my therapy instead of other methods. Thanks
We’ll Tom, I’m just at the end of 200 with Dan, I’ll try & be short but listening to you guys conversation & picks knock me out because first off I’m 70 & in southern oregon you didn’t get the latest like in the cities but I’m not anywhere close to the musicianship now days but friends use to tease me about having to show different parts in different genres but in your interview, one group I loved but know one I knew was aware of music that wasn’t on the radio but the band that I loved but no one had heard Giant and as I was watching your 200th I never knew who what Dan Huff really look like but I followed his name as a producer etc. but your reminiscing just about brought me to tears those parts you sampled not being a accomplished musician but I feel because the variety of band discussions which being 70 I’m not a 60’s only type I’ve like something out of all guitarist from George to joe to Steve m. Larry c. to Al d. to ritenour Eric J. On & on Mr. Beck ended up being all around player but thank Tom I’ve been with you since your 2nd or 3rd and your playing Tom has taken me because you are pretty much the epitome of what grabs me as a little bit of them all so hope my comment wasn’t to long your what I respect of musicians that don’t brag, action always speaks louder than words & less can mean more so you’ve got a senior citizen fan club
Whenever you play I can just hear the drums, vocal over the top in my head…. I never get that when I play alone lol…. There’s a compliment in there somewhere. Lovin it!

As someone who grew up with Cream in High School and got to see their farewell tour and was a huge fan, I would have to agree with your assessment of their music. Clapton was searching for something, and he found it with Derek and the Dominoes. That band was the … Jim Gordon, Carl Radle and Bobby Whitlock … Huge fan of The Allman Brothers too… But Lynyrd Skynyrd was just so much more… took me a while to get it. Keep up the good work!

Uncle Larry! I’ve heard/heard about you for years through the musician grapevine. When the lockdowns started, I was teaching guitar remotely from my home office down here in central TX, frankly kinda depressed and uninspired. I watched your first “Corona Lessons” upload and had no idea that these videos and your insights would become such friendly presence and wellspring of inspiration. Even inspired me to pony up for a 64 SG standard “chopper” a few years back, and get more serious about my harmonic knowledge and chord voicings. Thank you for being so generous with your knowledge and continuing to find time to upload, even post-lockdowns.

I changed the battery in my 2007 Honda Accord and now my radio no longer works...and the clock too. Uncle Larry, I've only driven a Mercedes once... and I honestly feel like my Honda is comparable to my American Standard Telecaster... and the Mercedes was like a custom shop Gibson. Anyway dude, thanks for inspiring me to work harder at guitar. I've been playing for 25 years and still learning...and more from you than any other teacher I've had. Greetings from Alabama

I’m late but what a do on your opening number! It brought back seeing Jefferson Airplane on Ed Sullivan sing Somebody to Love. My wound up pissed off ass kicking dad announced that kinda thing wont be allowed in his house. The next day my sister said lets pool our money and go buy some records. We walked to the store and came home with Tommy, by the Who. Hearing you real time reverie brought me back to hearing Tommy for the first time. Then Zep’s 1st record was out, then some Steppenwolf. Creedence. I told her dad was gonna kill us and she corrected me: No, he’ll kill YOU, but not me. We kept the records under her bed or I wouldn’t be typing this tonight. And that Firebird just rocks. Epic!

I’m late but what a do on your opening number! It brought back seeing Jefferson Airplane on Ed Sullivan sing Somebody to Love. My wound up pissed off ass kicking dad announced that kinda thing wont be allowed in his house. The next day my sister said lets pool our money and go buy some records. We walked to the store and came home with Tommy, by the Who. Hearing you real time reverie brought me back to hearing Tommy for the first time. Then Zep’s 1st record was out, then some Steppenwolf. Creedence. I told her dad was gonna kill us and she corrected me: No, he’ll kill YOU, but not me. We kept the records under her bed or I wouldn’t be typing this tonight. And that Firebird just rocks. Epic!
