    this was helpful on so many levels. i had some ceretoke trim product get on my paint all around a sunroof trim. i knew i would have to wet sand it one day. going to give the 1500 grit a go. the thick high spots i let dry laughed at compounds i tried.

      Robert Purvis - Glad you found the video useful. Detailing is all about achieving the desired results being as least aggressive as possible. It’s great to hear you tried compounds first - but yes step up to the next stage if compounds did not work. If you’ve not already done so please check out the rest of the channel & subscribe! Thanks and good luck 👍🏽🙏🏽🚘

    With that DA machine throw it seems like the cut was much more aggressive probably for newbies it might be best to do by hand or use a 3 inch DA machine. As long as you know what your using you should be ok.

    Hi mate
    good informative video,really enjoying your uploads
    How can you tell if paint is soft or hard?
    Keep up the good work

      Hi S Ba - Thank you for your kind comment. We are glad you are enjoying the uploads 😊. They do take some considerable thought and time to put together so it’s nice to know they are being appreciated. Thank You. We test for hardness using Sonax Perfect Finish paired with the Uro Fiber 50:50 pad. If it gets rid of most defects with a good finish then chances are it will be hard-medium lacquer. If you get hazing then it will be medium-soft lacquer. You can also test to see how much lacquer is removed during the test panel phase using a paint depth gauge. If you have high levels of lacquer removal then that’s another indicator that you may be dealing with medium-soft lacquer. Hope this helps 👍🏽

    Hello,
    Another great video. Can you please make a video to show how to remove orange peel with sandpaper and Carpro Denin pad.
    Regards.

      Stephane Edberg - Thank you for your kind words! 👍🏽 As responsible detailers we can’t advocate removing orange peel unless a vehicle a. Has had its paint thicknesses measured and has a thick layer of lacquer from the factory (which these days is super rare), or b. a vehicle has been resprayed with extra lacquer! The top 25% of the lacquer contains most of the paints UV protection!!! Without a. or b. there is too great a risk of removing the UV protection by attempting to remove orange peel. One of a professional detailers true job is to know what level of perfection to try to achieve. Ultimately you are trying to improve a vehicle not cause long term damage for short term gain! Sorry if this is not the answer you were looking for but like we would advise clients we manage expectations! Hope that makes sense 👍🏽🙏🏽🚗

    What's the longevity of the rupes x-cut discs and how do you maintain them?

    • @VProjectUKDetailing
      @VProjectUKDetailing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JC 787 - In our experience they last ages as long as they are maintained correctly! (Like most things). The material Rupes use on these is quite rugged. Best way to maintain them during use is to spray liberally with distilled water from a spray bottle after each set of passes to flush away all the lacquer accumulated on the pad and use a soft bristle brush to clean any remaining debris - lacquer can accumulate quite quickly on these pads. Once finished give them a thorough wash using a stiff brush with some APC for next time! We would recommend using one pad per panel if you are using them over a large area to remove larger defects such as oxidisation. Hope this helps & thanks for watching.

    How does pf remove 1500 when it claims to remove 2000

    • @VProjectUKDetailing
      @VProjectUKDetailing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hakman239 - In the detailing world product use, their limitations, strengths & weaknesses and best application often comes from experience over what the label may state. From experience we know that Sonax Perfect Finish is ideal for removing 1500+ grit sanding marks from very soft or soft lacquer as was demonstrated in this video. In fact it works so well that it removes most imperfections from medium and hard lacquer too. It’s one of the reasons it’s our ‘go to’ polish - it just needs pairing with the right pad to get the results you may be trying to achieve. Our channel will hopefully give you some knowledge other channels may not have! Thanks for watching ...

    Das6 pro plus isn’t designed for a 3 inch plate mate you need a mini 3 inch da to go with it

      hakman239 - Everything we demo in our videos is for a reason! It would have been easy for us to use our Flex PXE 80 in this video but we wanted to show people who may not have the luxury of owning several machines that just having one machine can be sufficient to get very good results. In our experience the DAS 6 Pro Plus works just fine with 6”, 5” & 3” backing plates! Thanks for watching

      hakman239 - From our use with this machine the vibration is not too bad. 3” backing plate with 3” pad causes no great issues
