Steve, I'm a 69 year old pilot flying since 1965, and about to call it quits and sad about that. I'm happy however to be able to fly vicariously through your wonderful videos. Keep up the good work! God bless you!

Well sorry to un-make your day but it wasn't for the camera, that's to let the pilot know he's all clear. I doubt he even saw the camera.

Still looks like it was to the camera to me. His back was turned to the pilot. But we can agree to disagree. Cheers!

+FlightChops I remember the video of you flying a lady with a flying phobia. You were doomed with her no matter what you did she didn't try that hard in my opinion. My guess the cure for her lies in counseling therapy, but who says every one has to fly ?

    Hi Steveo
I just want to say that your videos are so cool and full of information and style!
I have some unusual request. Can you please set in one of your long taxi or takeoff or landings one camera on the pedals. I would really want to see what is the correct way to work on the pedals. If you can show it in a split screen together with front view it would be great.
    Thanks a lot.

Found your videos on accident. Always had a love for aviation myself. Even led to my Army tour. Of course, they "omitted" the fact that I needed to be stationed near an Embry Riddle school...sadly I wasn't being an M1 Crewman. So, my desire to fly will never come to pass due to my disability payments being what they are. However, I can at least watch some of yours. Keep on flying man.

$2300 is allot cheaper then a possible gear up landing. I am sure that you can think of a few approaches that you have done where a manual gear extension would have added a certain pucker factor and would have been that nagging thought in the back of you mind with each flight. I enjoyed the video and your chat with us, looking forward to your next installment.

Interesting video. That was a short flight indeed.
Yes, airplane repairs are expensive, we have a very little Socata (M.S. 880) and the exhaust alone is nearly € 1000, plus hours. So $2500 for 7 hours plus electronics doesn't seem so bad.

Dear Steve-O thanks for this video OPF-HWO, whilst your other experiences are more enticing and mouth-watering, this particular one, inevitably brought back memories of my first solo flight back in DEC,1997. We flew in a 152 from Opa-Locka to N.Perry with my unparalleled instructor Barbara Tressler, did a couple of touch & go's, she then told me make a full stop at the end of the RWY, chatted with the tower, unbuckled, opened the door and got off ! , "OK Mike time for your 1st solo, do two patterns and pick me up, pleeeease don't let me down" (she was more worried and somewhat more apprehensive than I was), the flights were uneventful, a major turning point had just occurred, you had finally crossed the barrier, B747 here I come ..., One thing I did learn after that experience, was that all of sudden you start to memorize all the emergency procedures by heart.
Do keep up the magnificent work, stay true to the way you present and narrate your experiences, I assure you it ignites the dreams of many.
    safe flights MC

KHWO - North Perry. My home base. 2014 GA Airport of the Year. North Perry was a Navy training base during WWII. A portion of the original wagon wheel runway system is still there. Should be put on the National Historic Site list. There is a local politician that wants to close the airport and build houses on it. May need your followers to fight City Hall if and when the time comes.

  • @51Dss
    @51Dss 4 ปีที่แล้ว

wow - so Steve o you're the owner of that airplane...so are you leased to a company sort of like owner operator truck drivers do? do a vid about your operations - what is your company name - how do you make your money - do you carry cargo as well as passengers - how do you generate revenue - did you buy this airplane new or used - I'm guessing your TBM with all it's cool features and avionics is valued somewhere north of 2m dollars - hangar, maintenance, fuel, insurance, fees for landing and taking off various airports and other incidentals I don't know about...annual expenses must be enormous.

$2360 for 7 hours of work, plus parts, seems cheap :-) I went to a small-town ER a month ago. Less than two hours of my time (less of theirs,) an x-ray and a couple of pills: $1160. I was still sick for a month. I am assuming the landing gear, the bracket and the other 'tweaks' all worked immediately. Health-care is nearly 20% of our entire GDP. We live in interesting times.

Wow, so that TBM was your own plane I take it. $3K to change a switch box. Ouch. What is the going rate for a pilot of your caliber? That would be like a 2.5 day thing for me.

Boy i'll bet Socata pays their A&P's very well. Probably a labor rate of around $130 an hour.
