    I was deployed to this NAS in 1967 while in the Navy stationed at NAS Cecil field with VA 174. We brought our brand new A7 Corsairs for some air to air training. It was nicknamed "Rosie Roads" . Beautiful country to visit. I was an aircraft electrician 2nd class.

    Stevo:I'm not the type to leave comments on line, but I always watch your videos. I had to make it a point to leave you a message on this video. I am 42 years old, quit a very successful career to fly train full time and happen to be on check ride prep for my instrument training as of the time of this writting. I am from the Dominican Republic, and ran into this video as I was holding my daughter (while I was on the comode - a little comedy here) and it brought tears to my eyes. I would LOVE to fly an approach on that neck of the woods - one of my dreams as a pilot. Great job buddy and keep'em comming. Skyhawk N123AB HEAVY.

    Great channel Steven! I'm a brand new subscriber. I was a commercial pilot working as a co-pilot for less than 2 months, back in 2001. Broke my neck in a motorcycle accident and ended up with extensive nerve damage. Lost my flight physical. There are quite a few channels out there where pilots will bring a GoPro onboard, but so far none as good as you. I'm betting the editing process is quite a bear at times! But you do an excellent job of not only the edit, but also the whole process of modern commercial flying. Thank you for taking us along. It's amazing how much has changed even in the 15+ years I've been out of the game. Again, thanks for doing such a great job, and bringing the whole TH-cam world along with you!!

      Wow, a similar situation here, was a commercial pilot flying small turbines at the end when I was walking to my elderly aunts house one evening, got hit by a car which took off, left me with a broken neck, a broken back, and a host of other problems, and lost my medical, am now going blind too, but it's been just 2 1/2 yrs. since I've been in the air, and I miss it so badly it hurts, but these videos at least let me get up in the cockpit again!

    Hey Steveo, been watching your videos for just over a month now and they're all marvellous! I was wondering if you could possibly talk about being a pilot with a little more details, whenever you have a long flight. I'd love to hear from you about what potential new pilots could do with their PPL (can they make decent income out of it) or do we have to have our COMMERCIAL pilot licence after PPL? Potential costs, potential income rate etc... That'd be awfully kind of you, if you could shoot a video about these all Steveo...
    Kindest Greetings from England - Bournemouth U.K.
    Ziya :)

    • @adriang1
      @adriang1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'm not sure if the same applies in the US. In Australia you must not fly for revenue on a PPL. That means no being paid to fly an empty aircraft, transport passengers or derive any income from flying.
      You are however allowed to share the operational costs of flying an aircraft with friends and family.
      It is strictly personal flying. If you wish to do otherwise, commercial license.

      Thanks ever so much Adrian!

    • @theinfinitistig1109
      @theinfinitistig1109 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey ziya1only, as a student at ATP that has a PPL, with an Instrument on the way, soon to be on the commercial phase, I just wanted to answer your question about what you can do with that PPL. So as Adrian has said below, you cannot fly for revenue. According to FARs, you cannot fly more than pro-rata share of the cost of the aircraft and associated fees. For example, you and your co-worker fly in a Cessna 172, if the aircraft total cost was $360 for your two hour flight, your co-worker can pay you no more than $180. So if you fly with 4 people, and we take the same $360 total, you divide the total number by 4, and they each pay you that, and no more. You can explore the country, but you must plan carefully to stay out of IMC (instrument meteorologic conditions), or else you will be in some deep trouble, not just with the FAA. You are only limited to a VFR flight, so you must fly strictly by visual references (Nav log), not just a GPS.
      Your best bet is getting your Private and follow that up with your Instrument certification, then work on the Commercial license. Your best bet is to go for your R-ATP/ATP as that will lead to a brighter since airlines require that. You have a few options on getting all your certifications; you could pay out of pocket and do it a little at a time, slowly building hours. The route I took is going to a dedicated flight school (I chose ATP, but there are others like Aerosim, US Aviation Academy, etc), which you can also pay out of pocket if you have the money, or take out a student loan (which is how most do this). This is an expensive career to get into, but you will make it back and more. It is said the careers/professions that require a high amount of investment, financial and time, are often the most rewarding in time. The money is only a small part of the reward. Look at his view every time Steveo steps into his office, it does't get any better than that!
      Good Luck with your future endeavors and let me know if you have any questions. I will be glad to help!

      I loved it also especially truck bay and I can't get back there fast enough. Apparently I came during the rainy season because it rained everyday but one out of five that was kinda depressing but that comes with the island life. We stayed in red hook.

    Most airlines require like 500+ hrs on their main aicraft, however, how could you get that time on that aircraft w/ multi-crew if you don't work for an airline. Let's take Norweigen, they require 1500hrs on a B738/7 to become a first officer. How are you supposed to get them hours if you have never worked for an airline?

    • @srsparky32
      @srsparky32 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      there are several airlines that do type ratings and train to hire. delta is for sure one of them.

    • @jconan28
      @jconan28 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You don't need 1500 hours on a type of aircraft. You need 1500 hours of total flying time to be eligible to apply for the airline with a commercial certificate here in the USA.
