Good reaction. 'Metal Kingdom' is the opening track on the album - it isn't a song that is mean to "explode", they have other songs serving that purpose. It is setting the scene for the concept of the album, so of course they also used it for the epic theatrical opening number at their concerts two weeks ago - their first live shows in nearly 2 years.
Listen to it again (another few times) and it will grow on you more each time.
This was the live performance but with the studio audio - the video was released less than a week after the concerts they filmed it at, so it is understandable why it has the studio audio.
We will have to wait for the DVD for the live audio.
You’re so lucky to be going to see BM live for the first time. I’m excited to see them for my eighth time and I wish I could see them new again, revisit that first time I saw them with no idea what they would be like. I hope you have a fantastic time. Get ready for an experience. You’re right, this song does feel like it needs a breakdown or a really heavy bit somewhere in the middle.
Just a bit of advice about going to a BM show, it’s best not to video it too much. Just be there, be in the moment and enjoy it. Don’t bother with videoing it too much.

I'm with you. I'll repeat what I wrote elsewhere: I didn't cry the first time I heard it either. But I started listening to it on repeat, eyes closed, and the third time I felt a few tears rolling down my cheeks and dropping onto my hands, I was so happy to have this music. After some more listens I paused to find the lyrics, for the meaning in English but also to follow along with the words Su-metal was singing; the romaji I could read that she transformed with her amazing voice and phrasing, and that really did me in. So yeah, you're not alone in feeling a big impact from this song, its epic, cinematic grandeur, and from what this mature Su-metal is now capable of bringing to a Babymetal song.

Every new song gives us a fresh, different BabyMetal feel. And the old songs let us experience that they are still the same BabyMetal.
They haven't changed. They just have more and fresh ways of performing. No longer limited to the previous way.

This video is from a live concert that took place last month. Although not shown in the video, all the usual band members were playing heavily.
This song was played at the beginning of the concert. We sang it loudly with everyone 😁It was so much fun. Of course the other songs were great too.
SU and MOA will welcome another member at the concert in Yokohama on April 1st and 2nd. After that, they will go on tour with SABATON to Europe and England from the end of April.
Something about that has me concerned: BABYMETAL doesn't seem to be headlining any concerts - they're going to be just a warm-up band for Sabaton. Something of a letdown if you ask me.
At the beginning when this song was released it didn't really get there for me either, but now it grew on me and i get goosebumps from it. Don't know how, maybe the visuals did that

@@kerimmejdoub1381 I assume there will be an announcement in April of a larger European tour and a US tour. I discovered them just after the LA Forum show and there hasn't been another US show the entire time because of the CCP Virus.
@@Jordan-Ramses i saw them at a too small venue that was packed in the Netherlands just before the pandemic popped up. I had tickets for a bigger show later that year, but then everything was cancelled.

I haven't heard so many songs from Babymetal so far, but this one was different. It sounds a little bit line an opera, I enjoyed it.
You will definetley have a lot of fun at the concert with tree very exiting bands. I hope you will react to some of their songs before the concert.
This is going to be their new opening song, it's like a huge teaser with a final cliffhanger, leading into the next one (Divine Attack on the album).
As you already noticed, this MV has live footage on studio recording, like Gimme, Shanti, Elevator etc., but some clip of their performance has slipped through and yeah, imagine a full drumming and the crowd shouting the chorus and you may figure how impressive it sounds😌!
Don't worry, there are going to be pretty heavy songs too, even a crazy one, though overall this album will not feature the kind of extreme variety of the previous ones, it will have a more coherent sound, that makes sense as it's a concept album.
BTW I'm going to see them in Berlin with Sabaton this Spring, really can't wait 😍.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛 Nice T-shirt 😍。This video is from Makuhari shows on Jan.28 /29. I witnessed both shows at the venue. Don't worry. This is the opening of the show that suggests new world of BABYMETAL called "The Other One". They expressed it by grave and majestic performance in this "Metal Kingdom". After this opening, 3 girls performed 12 songs with Momoko Avenger. The setlist included playful "Pa Pa Ya" and hilarious "Gimme Choco". They performed even "Doki Doki Morning" with clone BABYMETAL causing happy surprise. In "Distortion", "Megitsune", "Headbangerrr" ...etc. they exploded and so did the audience. We ran circle pit in "Road of Resistance". ヽ(^o^)丿 The concerts were full of joy 😄 。
Going back to this song, I had goosebumps all over my body once the intro got started. The show was held after the almost 2-year long hiatus after all. Seriously many of audience were moved to tears and/or dropped their jaws when the gigantic fox wall opened and the thrones came out and saw Su and Moa sitting on them. Yeah! I chanted all through the song. ♪ Oh oh oh o o o ♪. What a happy experience!! The Kami band was playing on the east stage that was not captured in this video.

Thanks for coming back with this new BM song and first official MV of this year after a long time, always love when you're sharing your honest opinion with us. Please keep in mind this the opener song of the album and live concerts. If you don't know about BM openers songs then you should watch some of those to really compare and judge:
- Babymetal Death, live at Legend 1997
- In The Name Of, live at Legend S 2017
- Future Metal live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020
- Babymetal Death Shin Version live at Budokan 2021.
You'll see no dance choreography in any of those.
After this song they performed Divine Attack - Shingeki, a song you like it and they dance on it like usually, but we'll have to wait next month for the whole live performance with live sound.

I for one am glad there is diversity in a lot of BABYMETAL songs / albums I would become bored quickly if they gave me what I expected every time

I get what you mean about the lack of 'explosion'. At first I was disappointed that the band didn't do some ape-shit crazy stuff after Su's scream part but now I realize it wouldn't really fit into what the song is trying to convey. I can appreciate a more serious brooding Babymetal to balance out the happy party Babymetal. I have a feeling you will appreciate it more when you hear it live in person. To be honest though, we've heard 5 of the 10 songs so far, 2 of them via phone cams, and it seems none of them are like Headbanger quality crazy yet. Since it's a concept album I'd guess that will be the case for the whole album so it's just a different vibe from them for now. This is "The Other One' so the other side of Babymetal after all. Some are speculating the real Babymetal already have another album that will soon follow this one. It's pure guess but I wouldn't complain if it were true. Meanwhile, they will still be playing the old favorites at the concerts so no need to worry about that. :)
Appreciate your honest opinion. Some people probably will jump in and have a little debate on your point of view regarding good BM songs need to “make brain explode, pop a vein, make run circles around the chair, not drink coffee for three days straight”, granted they do have plenty of such genre.
To me this song is such an epic, the stage presentation is majestic and large than life, camera movement is unreal, the chorus and drum beat send chills to my spine, a fantastic opening. Go kitsune! 🦊

This new album to me is more like a rock opera which is telling a story. If you check out the lyrics they are pretty deep. I'm loving it so far because there is more to come and we need to be patient. 🤘😎👍

I'm still trying to understand what more you wanted from this song as an opening song for a concert. It's epic . Jake has mentioned many other opening songs as examples.
BabyMetals mutured if you keep doing the same and dont develop, you get stale like many other bands doing exactly the same stuff over and over again years later . BabyMetal has always been developing since the beginning, never excectly the same, but could always tell it was them .
What keeps me following BabyMetal is Su, her Vocals and Performance abilities without Su, they would be no BabyMetal . Love Moa to bits great singer and performer in her own right, but if it was Su leaving in 2017 and not Yui . i know Yui left in 2018, but there would not be any performances or US tour without Su in 2018 . It would have been the end of BabyMetal story . No matter how much we love Moa and Yui, they could not have fronted BabyMetal . That opinion will be unpopular, but what the heck . I'll take the heat 🔥

No you are right. Koba created BM around Su, so if he did not discover Su there would most likely not be BM. While Moa and Yui are capable singers, Su was chosen BECAUSE of Su’s talents and charisma. I’m sure that is the consensus. But Moa loves Su and her extreme loyalty and love for her kept the band together. I think that is more of a potential unpopular opinion 😊

I am agreeing with you on this. As a coach builds up a team around their best player ( or something like that) Kobametal built Babymetal by building around Su-metal, yes, Moametal has shown she can hold her own when she is called on to perform, Su-Chan is the focal point of the group.🦊🦊🦊🦊
@TheHenrymontemayor Oh dont get me wrong Moa is a very important part of what makes BabyMetal a well loved band and Moa and Su's efforts to keep BabyMetal going through a time a lot of Bands of there age would of just give up are well know to fans .
Moa stepped up, and being the main focus of the dancing after Yui left in 2018, as a teenager, it must have been scary without Yui . My most memorable moments seeing BabyMetal live
(Apart from hearing Su sing live) is an interaction with Moa, which got me a huge smile from her 😁 not forgetting one from Momoko as well still warms my heart even now 😁🤘🏼🦊 oh and seeing seeing both eastern and western kamis 🤘🏼😁

I am curious what your opinion will be after you have heard it a few times, because I shared your opinion after hearing it for the first time, but after hearing it a few more times I ended up really loving this song. Really? The chanting actually reminded me more of "From Dusk Til Dawn" than Monochrome. This song grew on me though. I ended up having it on repeat for about a week. This is meant to be an opener. It has an epic "Once Upon A Time" vibe which I really love.

I really what to see you react to Babymetal's first song "Doki Moki Morning" as well as "Megitune" my favourite song, this song really delivers the explosion you are looking for! And "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!!”. There are a lot of awesome early Babymetal songs that deliver that explosion! "Ijime,Dame,Zettai" is another one! You are really missing out if you don't go back and listen all their early stuff!

Majority of BABYMETAL songs are aligned with a theme or lore. As for this one, it's "THE OTHER ONE"...so either the other side of BABYMETAL or the other new member. I've been also reading stuff about "metalverse" which like existing in a parallel universe, probably the reason there was a cloned BABYMETAL performed during this concert.

It doesn't sound like the Babymetal of yesteryear, but I actually like the song very much. We get to hear Su-Chan show expression through her vocals, as if she had woven her heart into it. And Moametal adding her vocals is amazing. I believe this is going to be a great song, no doubt. Yes, Su-Chan's voice is sharp and strong with emotion, which makes this song great. But, this is opening tune.
I don't think you can accurately judge what BABYMETAL's overall sound is based on this track. Yes, as a standalone track it may lack riffs and speed; but, it's clearly meant to be an anthem and to represent a theme, as well as to be an opener for their new album and upcoming live concerts.
Anyway, I suspect that once their album is released the current overall sound of the band and what they are going for will become clear. And I'm betting there will be some bangers on their too.

Babymetal is going in a different creative direction right now, and they're going for an atmospheric, vaguely symphonic vibe that is different from the explosive style they did in the past. Since this is a sort of "side story" for Babymetal, this album may not represent a permanent change of direction, but rather a temporary diversion into something else they want to try out. Su and Moa have spoken for a few years about wanted to present a more "mature" version of Babymetal that reflects that they aren't little girls playing at being rock stars anymore, and are grown women, meaning that the old kawaii style of Babymetal isn't really viable anymore, which is why a lot of the old kawaii songs are pretty much retired now. Babymetal, more than most bands, by virtue of the members physically growing up, have had no choice but to evolve; for them, staying the same simply isn't an option.
We saw the first forays into this evolved "grown up" Babymetal on Metal Galaxy, with songs like Kagarou, The Trilogy of Lights, which were more mature in tone, and expressed much more complex adult emotions than most of their earlier work. These songs were for the most part, less balls to the wall metal, and instead more slower paced and occasionally contemplative and emotional works, and we are seeing that thread continue in the new songs on The Other One, which are grander and more symphonic, giving Su's growing vocal skill room to soar without having to fight with the hammering of drums and grinding of the guitars. It remains to be seen where they go from here, but I would expect that there will be at least a couple of bangers remaining to be heard on the album, and I'm excited to see what they do. The one constant of Babymetal is that they will do unexpected things in their own way, and it's foolish to put preconceptions on them of what you think they should be or do, because they will just do something else anyway.
BABYMETAL created kawaii metal and now they're going to abandon it? Kawaii is what BABYMETAL was all about! It's like killing the goose that laid the golden eggs. And if Su and Moa are going to go in this direction, they need to change the band's name because, in my opinion, this ISN'T BABYMETAL.
I think the same as you, Su has improved a lot vocally ,but musically it seems they lost a bit of energy along the way, I don't know about the new songs musically, they don't sound like babymetal to me. One or two songs is normal, a little softer, but they all lack something. Although they will continue to feel like my group, because Su is a great singer, I also like Moa. The clothes with pieces of plastic don't fit them, it was a better combination gold and black,that PVC, or whatever, reminds me of the curtains in cold rooms
I have another theory that many of you may have thought of, or maybe not. It might be 1000% wrong, but it may be partly right. Anyhow, as mentioned, this is a concept album. This is also the first song, and as Jake mentioned, many times, the first song is not ... "explosive", it is almost a warm-up for the girls, to kind of get in the groove. Now, going on THAT thought, maybe this ALBUM is a warm-up album to get them back into things. Keep in mind, they've been on hiatus for almost 2 years. The girls, as confident as they are, might still be a little nervous and rusty, so maybe these songs are not as "heavy" and "explosive" as what you're used to because they want to kind of ease the girls back into the swing of things. It's just a thought that popped in my mind when Bisscute shouted "EXPLODE!!". I'm probably wrong, but OTFGK.
I beg to differ: the first track of BABYMETAL's debut album ("BABYMETAL") WAS "BABYMETAL Death" - that was pretty "explosive"; the first track of the album "Metal Resistance" was "Road of Resistance" - a whole series of "explosive"; and even the first track of "Metal Galaxy" ("Future Metal") had more energy than this. And taking a chill-pill for two years should have given them time to come up with some really good kawaii metal instead of three tracks of "blah".

It has been stuck in my head for a while one. Even though it isn't explosive, I still feel it is a great song. So maybe they thought they'd take it a bit easy on this album, but figure once they are back in the swing of things they'll step things up. Also, maybe, since they may be announcing a new member, they wanted this album to be easier to get into for the new member, whomever that may be. There are many things we just don't know. Or maybe this is just an album that wont be their best album. Considering they've released every album as an amazing album, they were bound to have an album slip a little sooner or later. Now it comes down to how loyal of a fan you are. Just because you may not like this album as much as other albums, are you going to jump ship? Or are you going to be loyal to them, and what they stand for, and still support them and see where this ship goes.
@@jeremyboynowski3784 No, I won't be kicking BABYMETAL to the curb if it turns out to be a less-than-stellar album - I did like "Divine Attack" which I think is MUCH better than this track. The Beatles. Led Zeppelin, The Pink Floyd, Queen, and many other of my favs had albums that were lousy but that doesn't mean I've come to hate them. As you said, there's much we don't know and there's still seven more songs from the new album that most of us haven't heard. I have hope but I'm not too confident.

First time I have ever been underwhelmed by Babymetal. Not at all a bad song, just nowhere near what we know they are capable of. I see folks here who know better than me saying that this is the beginning of a story, of a concept album which does fire my interest still, so not a complete no from me.

Hi Bisscute, I love your reactions I wanted to ask you if you can react to Dreamcatcher - Endless Night, It's a Korean K-pop girl group but they have a very unique sound focused more on rock, metal, with J-rock influences, combined with pop, rap among other musical genres, it's a very complete and varied group. ... and if you like it you could react to their songs from their beginnings with the nightmare series (Chase me, Good Night Fly High (prequel), You and I, What, Piri and Breaking out), also the Dystopia series (Scream, Boca and Odd Eye), Apocalypse series (Maison, Vision) among others like Reason, Red Sun, Deja Vu, BEcause, Eclipse, and other B-side songs from their albums... I hope you can react to them, it's a group that I really think you might like. n_n
i want the same quality of concert in the rest of the world, metal scene in japan is more spectacular in some sort. when in other country is more wild / anarchist but very good also.

I am almost always disappointed by new Babymetal songs at first because I have such high expectations. But then I come to love them.
With Babymetal, you will have a much better time enjoying what they do. Instead of what you want them to do. It has always been like that.

6:14 Not gonna happen. Even the other tracks released so far, they never fully explode. I hope the rest of the album has some of the energy we've all come to know and love. I appreciate bands/artist doing something new, but when they don't fuse at least some of the old into the new, they tend to lose momentum and the hype around them. We're all excited for new BabyMetal, but for me personally, it's so far a 'meh' reaction to the new tracks. I don't hate them by any means, but I'm also not that into them. I appreciate your honesty about the track!

I agree with you. While I tear up listening to all the new songs and feel a lot of emotion from them, they are all lacking something. I miss guitar solos. Also, all the songs are arranged to be very repetitive. It's a concept album, though, so I hold out hope that that is just what they are going for on this album. I was really hoping for a more mature and heavy sound from them. Koba wanted to bring youth to metal, but he seems to be slipping out of metal all together. He even hides the band now.

As to the music, it's going to be different!! They are young women in their 20's with greater input as to what they will be performing. Reportedly one of the songs on the new album, the lyrics are written by Su. Something she said she wanted to do in a Sakura Gakuin video.
