Hartung Family Farms is a farming operation out of Jackson and Clinton County Iowa, with our main farm located in Preston Iowa. We have around 2400 acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa, rye, and oats as well as around 750 head of cattle. We have a wide range of International equipment from small tractors from the 1970s to newer large farm tractors!
The contents and opinions displayed on this channel are my opinions and do not represent the opinions of John Deere and Deere and Company
Love your hunting videos, we do the same thing here but I do disagree with your theory on coyotes, getting rid of them IMO far outweighs the chance that you let a deer know your location. That coyote you let walk will kill countless fawns in its lifetime. When we are deer hunting coyotes are number one on the hit list. Take care
Coyotes breed faster when their local numbers drop. You need consistent, constant, heavy pressure to make good inroads on their population density. Or reduce prey levels or bring back wolves to push them out both of which have their own problems.
I agree a deer hunt turns into a coyote hunt when they are seen we do the same here in Ohio
We push with high power rifles in PA and it works very well
I think that's a fair point but my counter to that is the research done that hunting coyotes really doesn't do anything to a population. You remove a coyote from an area, another one will take its place and in essence you really didn't do anything. That fact alone kinda doesn't make it worth it for me. And trust me, I hate coyotes, we lost a calf this spring to one
@@HartungFamilyFarms Just a FYI when party hunting in Iowa you can shoot bucks with a doe tag as long as there's a buck tag to be put on it. Your not regulated to just shooting does. This is only allowed when party hunting
I look forward to these videos every year. we do drives in Ohio. probably my absolute favorite.
This is awesome! I love the team work and comradery. No ego's just trying to fill the freezer and having fun.
That's what it's all about
Our drives 11 does ..but we Southern boys can shoot...lol😅
Right on boys never disappoint every year 👍 especially the Bud man 🤟🤪👍
We had a rough year for our controlled hunt. We had about a foot of snow and the deer were nowhere to be seen. I think all week our group saw 5 deer, we got one deer for the whole week. Glad to see some deer moving around, you just gotta get a little closer to their escape routes. I will be watching the rest of the videos tonight back to back.
I enjoy being a stander I’m old now 60 we’re going second season hoping for snow and cold ! We’re all on private land so we have guys posted around our property to keep out the trespassing hunters . Which had never been an issue except the last 10-15 years . Good luck ! Keep hydrated and keep the eyes peeled ! Those deer melt into the forest when there’s no snow ! ❄️
You’re not wrong there, it’s even harder for the camera to pick it up
@@HartungFamilyFarmsEvery set of eyes being different, some see them better than others. For me unless they are in the open and well lit they turn nearly invisible and often when I first see a deer it just registers as “something weird” rather than “deer”.
Deer drives are a tradition in Wisconsin too
love pushing, got many deer being a pusher ! Good luck this season guy's !!
Thanks!!
Couldn't wait for this❤ love these vids
Yeeeeeessss its finally that time of year. Wooooo
you guys rock, great family values and ethics my hats off to this great family
So glad to see the Hartung hunting videos again!!!
Looks like fun. Too much talking. Wait until sunset than talk.
I've watched your channel regularly for several years and as an outfitter/licensed guide in WI I will say that in each of the past deer drive vids that I've seen someone has shot at a skyline deer. This year is no exception. At around 44 minutes into the video I believe it was Ron that shot multiple times at running skyline deer. Try and be a better mentor to our youth and practice safe and ethical shots no matter the target or excitement!
Glad to hear you're a licensed guide/outfitter (don't care). Both of those shots were safe, knew everything that was behind me, safe shot
Finally the moment I’ve been waiting for Let Go!!!!!!
YESS, yall have some of the best videos out there. Not my style of hunting, but i surely enjoy watching it.
Love what you guys do. We do same thing only in different state. And no you don't know steep! Come to WV. I'll drop you off in one hollow and pick you up in next one 2 days later if you make it that fast! Lol keep up the good videos..and good luck to you all.
Yet another benefit of farming with family!
Dude I’ve been waiting on this since thanksgiving thank you!!
You bet, it’s about time!
Been waiting all year for this!
Great hunt ron and video nice to see all the crew together be safe. Great to see your brother
Been watching your videos for a while but I didn't know you guys were into harvesting cbd deer.. no wonder why he was running so slow haha
Breakfast at Richman's is always the best start to a hunting morning.
Absolutely
Finally the hunting starts go get them Ron and family!
I have been watching you guys for three years now and don’t comment to much, I think after this year you should set up a practice range that would simulate this type of hunting. It would be fun for one thing two it would hold your skills. Ps not trying to beat you up it’s just an outside observation. keep on doing what you’re doing. 👍💪
My neighbor's do drives, every year i get a buck that gets pushed out of their swamp to my property line stand
That deer had cbd? 😂
Ive been pushing deer for 42yrs now and never had a hunting accident.
Favorite videos of the year
Love the video 👍🦌
Fire video 🔥🔥 keep them coming
4 more!
Been waiting for these videos
what do you guys run for chokes and shells for your deer drives?
No need to check for blood Ron.....lol That second shot was +200 yds away ???
Great video
i like the fact you all wear orange coats and hats thats a smart choice more orange the better but brown carhartts no way u look just like a deer
Great videos. Hunting drives are a good way to hunt. Shouldn't be controversial. Different strokes for different folks. As hunters, we shouldn't argue amongst ourselves about how others hunt. We need to work together to get and protect the right to hunt. Keep it up guys!
Ron's husband works for Larson farms and his name is Brody
Have watched all of your deer hunting over the years, driving deer sure beats sitting in a stand all day. Keep the vids coming. Stay safe!
Definitely not a fan of deer drives, 90+% of the time the deer is running.
What was the set up on your shotgun you used in previous years? Was that a rifled barrel or smooth?
Smooth
Been waiting a year for these videos
OHnice!
Iowa and no Ithaca guns??? Common guys.😁
I used to love my Ithaca!!
Shooting at a skyline deer. New year same bad hunting etiquette lol. Wasn’t surprised by this group.
Go cry somewhere else
Backstop for every shot, good try tho guy 😛
don’t like it don’t watch it..
Out of all the hunting videos I've watched from this channel, there has always been a backstop
The deer had CBD?
Fan since day 1. By the way bud. Wear some real orange. 🍊
You did actually skyline shoot your second shot at minute 44 or so. When those six ran out.
From my end, no. But even if (and big if imo), i know the property and backstop behind that shot and there’s no issue
Ya traded in the old mossberg! A 450 ! good choice.
Yall need to go to the range
Range don't help with running deer.
I hope you had better luck the next day.
Staring at today, definitely did haha
For shotgun you guys take some long shots
Don't let deer suffer!!!
Only waited 12 months for this video
Can’t wait!!
Do you ever bring a random person hunting with you?
Keep that shit in Iowa
The deer are walking up to our houses and our subdivision and knocking on the window looking for food
Feel sorry for any actual hunters in the area.
I feel sorry for the people whom you call 'friends'
@ poor baby. Attacking people because your feelings got hurt from being called out for not being a real hunter. What’s your address? I think I got some pacifiers and sippy cups left over from my kids being little.
@ 🤣
Love your videos but hate I can’t let my boys watch them. The language has gotten pretty bad. #kareniknow 😂
The thing is they just put that money in there pockets
Only saw the one deer quit shooting does
while you are doing the tree work next time, you might want to take a few and fix that "no shooting lanes" problem. it wouldn't take much, or long and might yield big time.
Absolutely, we were just talking about that today! Haha
I live in mich. Lived i minn. Iowa
Are u guys over by Big Mill Creek?
You can't walk through a state park to go hunting for one
When range day ? Lol
I was just wondering when the new kids would be out. Glad I refreshed my feed.
I live in iowa and I went out this weekend and shot a giant 8 point. My understanding is that in 1st season you can only shoot does on your own land. But idk about public land cause we hunt what we own. Can you explain to me how this works just so i have a better understanding??
I don’t think there’s any distinction between public and private land as far as laws go
Your understanding is absolutely wrong unless you depredation hunt
Were there 2 shots on the first drive? I wasn’t sure.
When are you gonna post the Sunday video
25:00 your cousin does not like to shoot
What part of Iowa? Central Iowa here
Eastern, along the Mississippi
🦌🦌🦌🦌 🦌
No wind noise
Whos shooting a 30 pack this year?
My vote is Steve!
You and Bobby look like Iranian
I just watched a hunting video where "nice buck" gets killed and never got to see it.WTF???
I forgot :( check the next one (day 2)
Your brother talks way too loud in these videos. Never going to get a deer LOL
Im confused, it says shotgun season, so why does the one guy have a rifle?
Straight walled rifles are legal to hunt with in iowa
Oh ok.Thanks for answering. @@HartungFamilyFarms
I am in northern Iowa.. I HATE shot gun season. It brings out all the morons that crowd push deer and everyone starts blasting. There is always accidental hunter shootings every year.. They should outlaw these group push hunts. I hunt the muzzle loader season, and bow. You actually have to stalk and hunt. Not push and blast until the deer is down or your buddy is. SMH
Then you should pick up your shells or do you hire someone to pick them up.😊
In this video the deer look like they're 400 yd from you
Wide view camera for the win there haha. I measured it and it was 110 yards
Please say the second day u could hit something that 450 is more of a brush gun 100 yards tops
Do your homework on that you couldn't be more wrong
Why is the one guy standing out in the open
Be nice to see your farming operation
Check out the rest of the videos!
Where's the second buck??
Check day two! (I forgot)
So...I get why firearm season is needed to help balance the deer population, but this isn't hunting, guys. I am an avid Iowa bowhunter and have nothing against harvesting deer, but pushing woods to flush out deer like they are pheasants just doesn't do it for me. Flinging bullets at running deer from once-a-year "hunters" is a recipe for disaster. Glad you got some meat for the freezer but it isn't all that different from going down to the local meat locker for a side of beef. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. Just messes up the deer woods for natural movement. Okay, rant over. :)
Completely get it, I do. But I am guessing you're not from the edges of Iowa, more in the middle correct? If you've ever done some backwoods driving around eastern Iowa, near the Mississippi, you'll understand more that it is rough AF. If we didn't do pushes in the area, we wouldn't hit the DNR quota that they need for harvested deer. There's just so much cover/terrain that sitters wouldn't see the numbers
@@HartungFamilyFarms I am in south central Iowa and have hills, woods, and Ag - very similar to what you appear to be hunting. Our anterless quotas for our county are near the top in the State, so we are not hurting for deer. I give permission for a few to gun hunt our property but only from a stand or blind. I am admitting my bias towards bowhunting, prefer to get deer within 40 yards or less, and maybe just a little salty that the Iowa firearm season is one of the longest in the nation. Regardless, I appreciate the need for population control and the comradery aspect - but start a bowling league and hit the woods during October with a bow in hand :)
How come you guys don't have any windmills or solar farms
Because we enjoy keeping the land in it’s natural state
Because they're not liberal idiots!
I didn't think you had a choice when they decided they were putting windmills or solar panels . I see there.
No putting in those pipelines full of compressed liquid spirit caustic people are dying from it. Prompt predominantly farmers are dying from it has no smell. I think it's called C02, but I could be wrong. It's a Bible. It's a byproduct of ethanol fuels.
And there's nothing to do with it. So they're burying it in the brown and pipes. It's extremely corrosive
U didn't show us the 2nd buck....
Shoot, I didn’t? I’ll show it in the next video, check back on Tuesday
Deer drives are not a safe method and yes, I've been on a lot of them.
BULLCRAP I’m 66 years old and have been hunting since I was 5 ! Drives are extremely safe if done RIGHT ! These guys have been doing it for years and do it right and safe !
A 5 year old on a deer drive sounds like a great idea to me......
Keep yourself safe
@@Wilbur2019 ahh, good thing we aren’t all pussys like you
Does anyone shoot a gun before season...
Absolutely… but hard to practice against a target running 30 mph…
Decent video shots, but you all talk way too much. We ended up fast forwarding thru most of the video . Congrats on the buck
I couldn't hunt this year had heart by pass good luck be safe
Oh man, sorry to hear that, recover well!
Driving should be illegal cause you end up injured
more Deers and you put them in stress. I had to put a dough down, because her mouth was shut off, guys driving through the was a hour before she came by me
Completely disagree with you there guy. If you’re safe about it, it’s the most effective form of deer management out there. Our group has been doing it for 40 years and no issues
I just read a short story, from Jabriel Jaquez. ..It chilled me through the bones: "One day, the deer will hunt you."
I have to clue. Just wanted to share. It gave me goosebumps.. No fucking shit.
Smell that your in iowa.
pushing deer isnt deer hunting
Ron you and
Pick up your spent shells BOYS
